Weaver does a lot of things similar in terms of the drive leg mechanics and he relies a lot on his acceleration. You can see as he gets into that little leg lift there, he’s getting his hips starting to shift. But just because we’re so fixated on like acceleration doesn’t mean that we can’t load our drive leg. I think a lot of that effortless power output does come from that loading phase of the drive leg. Right? So when we descend from leg lift, we’re not just falling, right? this this back leg’s not just kind of falling through space. There is an idea of like, yeah, we want to get it going, but we still need to stabilize that energy. This is a really good example because see what his torso does and see what his lead leg does as a means to allow him to load. Gravity’s going to be pulling us forward because we’re the, you know, only overhead athletes that throw on a slope. It’s going to be wanting to pull us without that required stability that I keep talking about. It’s going to be really hard to do this. And that’s why I think it’s really important to have different types of mechanisms that can still help load that drive, which I would say are like components like the lead leg getting into, you know, extension or counterbalancing of the lead leg, counterbalancing the glove side, using the torso, a tilt to get him into a posture to load that drive. This just looks like a much more stable foundation to a hard throw,

The drop after you get moving forward is what creates the momentum and acceleration, which comes to a halt at footplant and the rotation of the back leg transfers that energy stored in the leg and glute during that drop up through the hips to the trunk and out the hand. You can't throw hard to your potential without the drop.
