this is how we want to generate some force in the golf swing this is power your lead foot has an important role in the downswing and it does a lot of work first as you fall into your front foot and all the pressure goes to your lead leg it has to put the brakes on it has to push back from the Target and this actually stops your body from going further towards the target if you’re a player that tends to get their leg buckling in the forward swing you’re not pushing back soon enough so the feeling of getting to that top of the roller coaster falling into your front foot I want you to practice by simply lifting your foot and landing and when you do you’re going to feel like you have to put the brakes on you’re pushing back from the target that’s one important Direction the second really important one is you push away from the golf ball as you fall into that ball of your front foot you push away from the ball into your heel this is for opening this is how your body turns and opens towards the target finally your foot pushes up it ejects you up from the ground so you can release the club and arms into the back of the golf ball so your front foot’s got a really important role in the downswing it pushes back back from the target away from the ball and up from the ground and a great way you could practice this is by holding your Club upside down put the weight of the club above your hands and take your normal grip on the shaft and what I want you to do first is swing back to that unweighted top position and fall into your front foot from here I want you to feel that pressure really getting into the top of your lead toe if you can stop your body from there push back and finally stand up this feeling is great for training your lead foot and what it does in the downswing when you get this drill down you’re not going to hit a ball like this I don’t want you to eject up from the ground and miss the ball you’re not trying to do that you’re just practicing the forces and the timing so as you get the weight of the club below your hands and you hold the grip again make a full swing fall back away and up and you’ll feel speed do this a few times to get the timing of it and then run through a full swing when you can Master the three directions that your lead foot does for you in the forward swing you’re going to pick up effortless power and you’ll never sacrifice Direction

  1. Ho-Lee-Cow! I’m sitting here like, “I know this guy.” It’s been 20 years. I used to be a patron at Coleman Plecker’s Golf in Edgewood, MD (maybe Joppa). How is it going Joe. I remember you shagging balls in the tractor at the range. I’m the Brother with the John Daly Swing hitting driver out the end of the range. In ‘04 I moved out of state so that’s what happened to me. I hope the family is well. I see you’re in GA now, congratulations. You worked hard for it. Good to see you are doing well. And just saying, I had the biggest crush on your sister Beth. 🤣🥂
