Testing the Legendary Nike One Black Golf Balls – Are They Still Worth It? 🏌️‍♂️🔥

In this video, I tracked down a sleeve of the infamous Nike One Black golf balls on eBay — the same model Tiger Woods allegedly used during his legendary Grand Slam season. These balls have become rare collector’s items, and their prices have skyrocketed since Nike Golf stopped making clubs and balls in 2016.

But are they still any good in 2025? Or is the hype just nostalgia?

Join me as I unbox these iconic golf balls, hit the range and the course, and see how they stack up against today’s modern tour balls. We’ll talk performance, feel, distance, and whether these old-school Nike balls are worth the steep resale prices.

👟🖤 Nike may be out of the ball game, but the legend lives on.

In a world where Tiger Woods was dominating the golf course, Charlie Sheen was dominating the headlines and Nike Golf or Nike Golf were dominating equipment, we have these. Now, I’ve just bought these from eBay and I paid I think it’s fair to say well over the odds for them. But could these still be the best performing golf balls ever? Or have I just been robbed for a bit of nostalgia? Hi everyone, my name is James and welcome back to this YouTube channel. I’ve got the Nike one golf balls. These are Tiger Woods’s golf balls from back in the day when he was absolutely dominating. We’ve still got the old Tiger Woods logo there. I heart back to the time where this was Tiger Woods’s logo and not this. Is that upset you as well? Like it’s not really. It can’t be. I still think it’s an April Fool that but it’s not. And that was the old Nike logo as well. I am going to make a conscious effort to pronounce Nike as Nike in this video because I always get hounded for it. thought today we’re going to put them through the paces, put them to the test. We’ve already had them in the studio and then I’ve reboxed them um cuz I wanted to test them for the numbers. So, I will put that in this video. We’ll have a bit of a discussion. Spoiler alert, they weren’t that good. They really weren’t that good. But, we’re going to test them out here today and see what we can score with them. They already look a little bit scuffed. Scuffed. And I don’t think they’re actually white, but uh Nike one black golf ball. Remember the black golf ball they did? So, the black ones on eBay as well. Uh, I paid like £25 for these. It’s nearly like£10 a ball with with postage. It was over10 a ball. So, this video better do well. And they’re not even from the same pack cuz I’ve got a one and two twos. So, someone’s properly done me there, haven’t they? But the black one was like 100 pound for one ball. Absolutely frightening. We’re going to kick things off on this par three, so we can’t lose them all on the first hole. Then we’re going to smash some drives up the par four and continue from there. And we have 135 playing 142. So, I think this time in the morning, that’s just a nice eight iron, Bobby, isn’t it? Um, who remembers Oh, that sounds awful. Now, here’s one. And I was going to wait till a little bit later on in the video to do this. There’s no way Tiger played these, did he? Let’s just all be a little bit more kind of honest here. I don’t think Tiger actually played these irons or irons. I think he didn’t play these balls. And just like the Nike blades, did he really play them or did he play like muras that were made to look like Nikes? Potentially. Right. I mean, it all can be forgiven if they do perform really well, can’t it? In fairness, that felt that’s gone miles. You know, that might be lost that one, Bob. Oh, no. What an awful bounce that was. That literally could be one lost already. Right. Do we club down? That’s gone a long way. I did not expect that to go that far, I’ll be honest. Especially at this time in the morning. So, we’ll club down. But that must have gone 160. Did not anticipate that. I hope we find that. I’ll be really upset if we’ve lost that. That’s why we started on this whole nine iron. They have a really strange sound to them, don’t they? They’re two completely different sounds, though. That’s actually pin high. That’s not a bad shot at all. Let’s go again. Nike one. The one thing I’ll say is the ease of launch there is quite astronomical. And if we have a look at the box in a moment, I think these are designed to be a bit of a kind of low spin monster ball. Now, in testing in the studio, I’m going to get straight to the point here. They weren’t that at all. But let’s see how we get on out on the course. I hope I haven’t lost that, Bob. I’ll be devastated. Right. As consistency goes, Bob, the other two were good, weren’t they? They were not overly sure about this one with it. Just pleased we haven’t lost it already on the opener. Oh wow, what a shot. You see, that felt really, really good. Oh my god. Just brings out your inner tiger, doesn’t it? Really. We’ll see if we can par it with that. You know what? I was really petrified. We’re going to lose that then. Like if anyone finds that, they’ll think, “Oh, a Nike one.” How does it feel off the One thing that surprises me is how I don’t know if because these would have been a premium ball back in the day. The obviously the Tiger Woods golf ball of the era. I found a Pro one as well and a Callaway. And a Callaway. Is this potentially the ball that he used at the Masters when it like just went in? I remember him having the one black on the side of the hat. It’s some three this. Oh, it is as well. And a little bit of ball wash to go with it. Right. Was a wasp on me hand there. Could a wasp sing you when it’s dead. I feel like it stung me then. But I was quite happy with that. Let’s move on. Let’s hit some drivers. A two is too much task in it. No. It feels terrible off the putter. Two threes and a two tiger like a wasp den in there or a nest even den. So back in the day Tiger Woods was known for two well he was known for a lot of things but he was known for two main things. Hitting it a long way and short game. And I feel like I’ve pretty much done that. That a time went far too far. Then the trip was really really good. But you have a look at here. The one for longer distance and penetrating ball flight. The Black Knight one enhances performance for aggressive swing speed. Would you say I’m an aggressive swing speed? I’m aggressive. I wouldn’t say it’s consistent. Aggressive is like the total wrong terminology, isn’t it? You say fast now, would you? The Black Knight one keeps spin low for accurate distance off the tea. Accurate distance. Accurate distance. Straight distance. Accuracy and Yeah. The Black Knight One has long penetrating mid-trajectory flights. The Black Knight One plays great on tight, windy tracks. I don’t know what to say to that really. The Black Knight One redefineses premium performance for tall caliber play. Each layer is designed to achieve a specific action. All the layers work together to create a complete and unified scoring advantage for the serious player. You just spit. I did look up a bit. Yeah. Um, but it’s actually a three-piece ball. So, it’s very similar to what a proving one will be. You’ve got a core, an inner cover, and an outer cover. Um, larger, faster, longer, reduced spin, straight of flight, controlled spin, and crisp feel. So, we’ve pretty much kind of ticked every box there. And for me, that’s marketing back in its heyday, wasn’t it? Like, you imagine the guys at Tailor Made or at Callaway now getting the hands on something like that, they would absolutely be all over it. But, let’s put it properly to the test. Let’s hit some drives with a modernday driver, not one of these. Cuz back in the day, what would the driver have been? A SQ Sasquatch that Tiger was using. Was it that blue one as well? No, that was that was long after that. We’re talking here. This So this ball, we’ll put on screen what year it was, but I think it’s circa probably 2002. Oo. So like proper in its heyday, just a few years after obviously the tiger slam. And the idea is not to lose them all here. So we can cut one open for you at the end and see what it actually looks like in the middle. It’s safe. You know what? It’s safe. Oh, thanks for that, Bob. I’m actually impressed by that. I think that has given You’re not impressed by that? I don’t think it’s gone very far. I thought it did okay, that just got past that bunker, hasn’t it? It was a bit cuty, but like it was You could tell it was that nice trajectory in a mid spin like they say. Sorry, I’ve not impressed you there, have I? No, redeem yourself. That was a better fly. Yeah, that was lower, wasn’t it? I see what you mean, though. Right, I’ve got I’ve got a Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond video that we’ve just done actually. Um, I’ll hit one of these and see what it’s like comparable cuz this I would say is probably the equivalent to what Nike thought they were doing with this. How beat up that is. I reckon someone’s used these before me. Have I bought recycled balls here or reckon someone has a little put on a chip with them in the house? They do, don’t they? And the guy who’s bought them, he sold them obviously for like $100 a dozen, but you can see the difference in color. Oh, yeah. I think the outer textures now the technology has come on so much. Right. Does this go further? Yes. That’s gone miles further. Do you think it has? I think Yeah, there’s every chance. Potential flight. Less movement in flight as well, isn’t there? It’s gone absolutely miles further. It’s gone like 30 yards longer, hasn’t it? Let’s hit one more Nike with a Bay Hill T. That’s special, isn’t it? It’s got to go further now. Got to do Tiger. Probably run one round bayill with this this ball. No, we’ll find it. We I feel under so much pressure using them. Whenever I buy just a sleeve of free golf balls, I’ll just turn into You’re going to lose all these in one hole and the video is going to be terrible. That’s how I feel every drive. It’s consistent. So the last one’s here, the other two are there. So very, very consistent. And then do you want to show them where the Callaway is? Yeah. Yeah. So there’s a common thing that keeps happening here, Bob. The first one we hit is always the worst one. We’re in the rough again. These balls are cutting up incredibly. Like I can’t believe how much they’re cutting up. We’ve only hit like a couple of eight times. That might be the one where I hit the flop shot. But um we’ll play the first shot again, but I just want to hit a few and just really get a feel for them because some of them feel really nice and then some feel pebble-l like. So I’m kind of hoping this might sound crazy that we keep all of them. You’re laughing. It does sound a bit weird. I’m going to cut them all open cuz I’m not sure these are all the same. And I don’t know if I’ve been ripped off or not, but maybe we’re all getting ripped off back in the day. Did anyone used to use these? They were 169s playing. They were before your time, weren’t they? I used to have some N golf balls, but it was a lot later. We’re like Nike Mojo playing 169. I’ve got seven. I’ll bring this one back as well. But for the score, we play the first ball. Is this too much club? Flag’s right at the back, isn’t it? You’ll be all right. Uphill. I’ve got a seven. Wow. It does. I’m not going to say it feels nice because I mean that’s really good, isn’t it? Great shot. because nice is probably a bit of a a bit over the top, but it does feel different. Very different to anything we we’d hit today. And they are incredibly high launching, aren’t they? Very high launch. Seen videos of Tiger and he was hitting them irons like he was hitting them like proper up in the air, wasn’t he? He can get a ball airborne like that. Like that. And maybe that’s just to play with these balls. Maybe that’s why they feel like they do because the people who wanted to use them, i.e. Elrich, wanted that high low spin shot. Have we lost my me towel? Stinker today, Bob. Kings Barnes towel gone. The path did us, Bob, didn’t it? Just a couple of hops over that path and we were done for. Kings Barnes. What a place, right? Pretty good and pretty consistent. The one thing I’ll say is still quite short, isn’t it? I I thought I probably had too much club there, but looking at it, they have landed nice and soft, which you would hope they would do, especially coming down from that trajectory, but I personally thought they’d be further up towards that kind of 169 distance. Did you, Bob? I thought they’d be closer. They did go very high. Which one would you say is the first one? This one behind me. The first one? No, I think it’s the furthest one. Do you? Yeah, we’ll go with that. I do think I use these for a very very brief spell. You know, like when you’re a junior, you save up your pot washing money and and buy these. Oh, sit. Can’t complain with the roll, can I? Not that golf ball’s going to roll oddly different, but feels firm. But we’re getting used to the feel now, which is good. Sounds firm. Two pars in a row. Clicky, doesn’t it? Yeah, clicky. Right, another par three. 154 playing 161. I’m going to go eight iron or do I go seven? What do you think? Eight. Prince seven and eight. Bring seven and eight. If there’s ever a hole, you’d want to can one with like because I I I’m a big believer if you like whenever you have a one or something like that, you make I’ve got a we’ve got a we’ve got one frame, don’t we? But imagine that in in a frame. That look cool, wouldn’t it? It would. Um and oddly enough, on this hole yesterday, this happened, didn’t it, Bob? That’s gone too high. They did. You might talk. You can talk. Let me talk. He’s eight enough. That’s why I told you seven. I feel like if we get one of them like low spinners that we got on the first par three, then it is. But if we get the high launching high spinner like those, it’s not. You’ll be surprised if this gets that. Yeah. Watch this. Wow, that sounded really good. I do think it’s short, though. I think you’re right. Go on. Go on. Go on. How? It’s not short, is it? I think it’s landed short. And I don’t think that stopped very quickly at all. I think it’s No, it run out a little bit, didn’t it? Wow. Short hole at the minute, isn’t it? I really enjoyed that one. I can’t believe that’s not stopped, though. Another decent strike. It’s certainly a really high ball, isn’t it? Oh my god. But you see, that one’s short. Yeah. So, that one felt like exactly the same swing, exactly the same shot, but I reckon that I reckon that’s 30 40 foot short and the other one is like just released out past it. The good thing is it’s still due on the ground so we can see exactly what’s happened and we can get a bit like CSI on it. Bob, can’t we? You like CSI, don’t you? Love CSI. Oh, you more NCIS. NCIS is the really bad folk, isn’t it? Right. This is a seven. So, this could go 20 yards long or be right. And this is where this ball This is where maybe where they struggled. No, I’ve tried to steer that one and I’ve not done it very well. That could be one lost. No, but this is all due to the indecision of how far the ball’s going. Should have just kept it at one, Bob, shouldn’t we? Come on, give us the theme tune. Boom. Boom. Every day on a golf course near you, indexes things happen with Bobby Andrews. Those are those stories. Boom. It was short. See, that’s a massive difference, isn’t it? Wow. A massive difference. And if you look at like cuz I’d say they were both a nice high trajectory, would you? Yeah. Um and that’s released miles, hasn’t it? This isn’t for the skull. We’ve got the birdie put for the skull. I’m going to have another chip with it and just see what they’re like. But you can see where the dew’s gone there. So it’s pitched here. Is it pitched there? No, it’s pitched here. So it’s pitched next to the hole, hasn’t it in fairness. So it’s not too bad. But you would expect an eight iron to stop a bit quicker than that, I think. Would you? Yeah, I would. Yeah, with that height. Yeah, cuz this one, the one that again looked all over it, that’s that’s what you would expect from an eight iron. Short game wise, I think they’re really good. You know, I think if you can get over the the feel of them, I think they do perform quite nice. Yeah. And the seven iron flat pull’s not done too bad. What a shot. Would you expect that to spin more? No, not from that’s top spin. Went for the landing angle. Nice shot. And you can sort of use that ease of launch to, you know, help you in situations like that. Yeah. Right. This is to get under par. Oo, I really enjoyed testing these balls in this environment, you know, like hitting a few but just diffusing your first one. It’s the sawrass hat as well. Yeah, I bet he went at s I bet he went everywhere with Bayill T. Sawrass hat. Where’s your hat today? Oh, it’s been so close, hasn’t it? On quite a few. Right, par five coming up. We’re going to go one ball at this and just focus on the score. See if we can get under par with Tiger’s balls. You heard it, Bob. You heard it. Some of the most heinous. Sorry, I’m just I’m thinking about your What do you mean myum wrong bag? I’m in the the content bag there, Bobby. Right. Basically, we’re going to try and smash drive around this corner and hope to get on the par five in two and make ether an eagle or a bird. Is that okay? Cheers for that. Yeah. Oh, no. Well, that’s not a great start to the hole, is it? It’s not, but I feel like I can still get it in there. Oh, I got a splinter in me. Oh, I should have just left it. Should have left it. Right. A draw’s not being my friend, but could be. Tiger could play a slinging draw, couldn’t he? And I’m using Tiger’s ball. So effectively, I am Tiger Woods. Oh my god. And I haven’t heard anything either. I think that that we could have like pitching wedging. And the ease of launch of that has helped what I was trying to do. Numbers wise, we’ve been inside and as you can see, we’ll put a couple of shots on screen now. It just wasn’t very good. like I couldn’t get it below like almost 3,000 spin with an iron. It was very inconsistent. So, you were kind of getting the worst of both worlds really. And I feel like this is where maybe Nike have gone, you know what? We can’t make balls. We’re struggling to sell clubs. Let’s focus on shoes and clothes and kit out Rory so we can win the grand slam. Bobb’s tried telling me that’s in the trees. I mean, it must have clipped him to be fair to finish. It’s not come down that way, has it? So, I’ve slowly robbed it of a bit of distance, but it’s still a good I’m That’s the first drive where I’m like, you know what? I’ll take that. What do we have into the par five? 200. What is it? An eight. Playing 206. Now, my worry here is I I’m going to hit like six iron. I don’t I’m not even at seven. It’s just going to trundle down, isn’t it? We’ve not had the most consistent of stopping powers and control. Like a low seven that lands left of it and just bounds down. just bounds over. Oh, look, a rabbit. Oh, it’s just right of it, though. That’s not going to kick left either. Straight on. Greenside bunker probably. It was the right club. I’m pleased with the the distance. I’ve actually grown to quite like this. I do feel like it performs terribly, but I feel like for a nostalgia video, really happy with it. Guys, hit that subscribe button if you want to see more videos like this. And I was thinking back then, I was going to have a conversation with you, but we were too busy talking about NCIS. Do I order the Bridgestone ones he’s using now and compare them? Oh, yeah. Be a good one, wouldn’t it? It would cuz we not lost any either, honestly. We’ve got them all. 25 quid, Bob with postage. 33. Sweating. So, actually there, Bobby, the lack of distance on the Nike one black golf ball has probably helped us because we’re not in the green side bunker. Although, I did really fancy a greenside bunker shot, but we’ve got that chip now for eagle, which I’m going to be quite aggressive at because um I don’t know if you know this, Bob, but the Nike one black golf ball is designed for aggressive golfers. You’re an aggressive golfer. Um, no, it’s all right. Tell people. I’m a I’m a very aggressive golfer. Are you an aggressive? Do you know who is an aggressive golfer? Who? Brett. Yeah, Brett’s aggressive. Yeah. Do you know who’s not very aggressive? Gaz. Gaz could do with being a bit more aggressive. Bit more assertive. Bobb’s just an aggressive. So, I think if I if I land this Oh my god. If I land this here. Yeah. Yes, I think so. It was just a bit shy, wasn’t it? That wasn’t an aggressive shot at all. But we have a nice little uphill put for a birdie. Guys, would you buy a few golf balls off eBay to see what like I’m I’m sure they’re still legal, aren’t they? They’ve not changed anything to say they wouldn’t be legal, but the birdie puts have evaded us so far. And this one means a lot. Guys, thank you so much for watching. If you’ve enjoyed that video, smash that subscribe button below. We’re well on the way to 300,000 subscribers, and Bobby would love you to be a part of it. I would. And we’re going to try and get him a green bag. Oo. Goodbye.

  1. I always heard that the NIKE balls were actually made at the Bridgestone factory. Don’t know if true or not but heard it from several sources. Kinda makes sense that Tiger moved from NIKE to Bridgestone later.

  2. I swore by these balls at the time I loved them. If I watch this and they perform bad it’s an age thing not a ball thing. Those balls were great. Those balls look used and cleaned then sold as new. It would explain the short drive.

  3. The 975D in its day was an unmatched driver. The old Precepts were amazing gif balls as well. Bridgestone always made a great golf ball.

  4. Funny story, back in august 2011, I found a Nike One Black ball. Not what I usually used but decided to tee it up on a 162 yard par 3 over water. If I lost it, I didn’t care. I was a low 90s golfer. I ended up with a hole-in-one. My only ace in 30 years of playing. Now the ball sits in a stand commemorating the ace.

  5. There was a limited release of a TW spec Nike One Gold that was supposed to be his actual spec. They spin like nothing I’ve seen since. I found a dozen on eBay years ago. They have Tiger stamped on the side of the balls.

But he played the One, One Gold, then One Platinum. Never the One Black to my understanding. But the TW logo is on all the boxes just because.

  6. Sorry James I think you bought some eBay snide balls that were made in China, even the wording doesn’t seem right 😡😡

  7. Those NIKE black one golf balls were trash, in my opinion? Never bought or used any Nike balls after those! I did want that Buick Rondevue Tiger was promoting back in the day, and even those were crap!
    Great video though ROBO!

  8. I found an interesting ball in my bucket of driving range balls from Poppy Hills. It's a Nike One with the Nike swoosh. It is stamped Tiger in one area and 2000 129th Open Champion opposite.

  9. The Bridgestone balls have to much tech compared to the Nike Ones. Don't you think? Did he ever play the Nike RZN Platinum Balls? Try to get some of those and play with a Nike set!!

  10. I still have a sleeve of these 🤣 and some other old balls…. i want to break them out and play them… but i feel like i'd lose them right off the tee

  11. I found a few of them back in the day and tried them because i bought into the hype. They reminded me of a solid ball, great for distance but when they hit the green instead of spinning they bounced lol

  12. I found a Nike ball about 7 years ago. It was a Platinum with a teal and chartreuse swoosh. That was the absolute longest ball i ever hit. I was driving the ball 25 yds longer than usual. I actually used it for a couple of rounds, and then i lost it. Never saw another one before or since.

  13. Why? Why? James, I was so sure you would chuck the balls in the bunker and see if you could hole one. Sort of a short side shot, it would have been so interesting to see if it would check and go in
