MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — The ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic has begun after a rain delay on Friday.

ABC15’s Amanda Kinseth was there when the showers started pouring down.

All tee times were delayed 1 hour and 40 minutes on Friday morning.

“This is a custom design rain jacket because it’s a little bit wet out there,” said Don Affinito, a volunteer.

A sudden downpour forced volunteers under awnings, and golfers under umbrellas.

The spring showers didn’t phase any golfers or deter any fans.

“I’ve got no problem with it. Going out to sea anyway. I’ve got a rain jacket on,” said a spectator.

Proving Mother Nature can’t dampen the mood!

The Fan Zone Classic Shag Dance Competition scheduled for Friday night was cancelled due to the rain delay.
