✅ Power Rankings: Truist Championship

Imagine Baseball Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt in his prime taking an at-bat for Bryce Harper today. That’s essentially the roster move that the PGA TOUR has made for this week’s Truist Championship.

The sixth Signature Event of the season traditionally is contested at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, but because the course is hosting next week’s PGA Championship, The Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course is pinch-hitting for the field of 72 in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. It’s situated almost 15 miles north-northeast as a Schmidt homer would fly from Citizens Bank Park, home of the Phillies, the only Major League Baseball Team for which Schmidt ever played.

Details of what is a special treat for qualifiers and fans alike, a review of the weather and much more are detailed below the ranking of golfers projected to contend.
15: ANDREW NOVAK
Rory McIlroy’s April will help define his career, but Novak has his own best month ever with a T3 (Valero Texas Open), a P2 (RBC Heritage) and a breakthrough victory (with Ben Griffin) at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
14: LUDVIG ABERG
It’s strange that he’s still searching for consistency despite sitting seventh in the FedExCup, but he’s misfired frequently. Yet, he’s risen to the challenge of Torrey Pines (win, Genesis) and Augusta National (seventh, Masters).
13: XANDER SCHAUFFELE
His last three results aren’t bad – T12-T8-T18 – but they’re still well short of his best. It doesn’t hurt that Wissahickon is a neutral site on which he can manage his game as he continues to find consistency with the putter.
12: TOMMY FLETWOOD
Possesses all of the intangibles required to ace the test but he’s also appeared regularly on leaderboards on tough tracks like Torrey Pines (T5), Bay Hill (T11), TPC Sawgrass (T14) and Copperhead (T16) just this season.
11: COLLIN MORIKAWA
When considering who should thrive when ball-striking is paramount, of course he rushes to mind. Third on TOUR in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, 11th in greens hit and second in proximity, but also ninth in putts per GIR.
10: DANIEL BERGER
Two podiums among his eight top 25s this season, including a T3 in his last start at the RBC Heritage, so he’s back to his top-shelf self. Seventh in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, 14th in Scrambling and 23rd in Bogey Avoidance.
9: PATRICK CANTLAY
His stoicism helps explain how exceptionally balanced he is from tee to cup. With a pair of T5s and another three top 15s on the season, he’s lurking and poised to strike when it makes sense. Well, it makes sense at Wissahickon.
8: VIKTOR HOVLAND
Golf forever is a four-letter word, but it’s still hard to accept how some talent slips gears. He did a 180 when he won the Valspar Championship and has extended terrific form since with a T21 (Masters) and a T13 (RBC Heritage).
7: RUSSELL HENLEY
With a win at Bay Hill two months ago, he’s already prevailed in a Signature Event on a challenging course this season, but it’s one of five top 10s. Elite putting is reflective of his entire bag. Ranks T10 in Bogey Avoidance.
6: JORDAN SPIETH
While inspired by Rory McIlroy, Spieth’s resurgence also is a product of a surgically repaired left wrist, confidence to rely on it responding in the heat of competition and his talent. Three top 10s among six top 20s in 2025.
5: COREY CONNERS
That he doesn’t give away strokes with his putter is as impactful as his reliable ball-striking, and even though he has five top 10s in 2025, both components of that profile have an even greater chance to dazzle. More below.
4: SHANE LOWRY
In the center of the crosshairs of form upon arrival is how his game has measured this season and record of excelling on the toughest of tracks. Three top 10s among seven top 20s in 2025. Fourth in SG: Tee-to-Green.
3: JUSTIN ROSE
As the 2013 U.S. Open champ at Merion Golf Club, nine miles southeast of Wissahickon, he’s already a winner on a classic track in suburban Philadelphia. The Brit tends to play his best on courses with the most character anyway.
2: JUSTIN THOMAS
Rested since prevailing in a playoff at the RBC Heritage, it fulfilled his most recent promise borne from a pair of runner-up finishes previously in 2025. His irons are hot, and he’s No. 1 in putts per greens in regulation.
1: RORY MCLLROY
Back on his own ball for the first time since winning the Masters and achieving the career Grand Slam, so it’s unchartered territory for the 36-year-old, but the kind to which any pro would aspire. Best in the field tee to green.

In fact, rain in advance of balls in the air on Thursday morning could soften the turf but lengthen the course. More rain is expected by Friday when it will be coolest as wind pushes in from the north. Everything should calm down by the weekend as lighter breezes could rotate from the prevailing west by Sunday. The winner of the truest will be one of the last automatic qualifiers for the PGA Championship. As of midday Monday, only Ricky Fowler and Michael Thorbjornson are not yet exempt for the major. Thank you so much for following another great news and see you in the next video.
