It’s time for the sixth Signature Event on the PGA TOUR schedule, and the TOUR ’s best heads to The Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course. This week also marks the return of Rory McIlroy, who is set to play his first individual event since his Masters triumph. Although it’s a different course, McIlroy is still the defending champion of the tournament. The Philadelphia Cricket Club is an architectural gem from A.W. Tillinghast and will be a one-year fill-in for Quail Hollow Club, which will host the PGA Championship next week. Joining McIlroy is Justin Thomas, who will tee it up once again after his win at the RBC Heritage, as will other top players such as Ludvig Åberg, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama.

If he catches this one, he could possibly fly it over the first one. That brings the second one perhaps into play, but doesn’t look like he’s worried. Let’s go. Let’s get it. Right down the center cut. This has to get close. He’s also got some slope to the left of the hole. It’ll get the ball a little bit closer. Yeah, like that. Yep. Joe Grinder making his debut on the bag. How about this birdie putt here for Kamora now? And so Morawa hit a little fade to this left hand flag. Signature ball flight from Moracawa. So this is a good look for two in a row. Good call there. Putting from the proper position on the green. Marca has driven it beautifully so far today. I think it’s funny how intently these players watch the ball when they they know that they’re not going to see it land a little back into the breeze. There’s wind has just picked up. Feels good. Not going to lie to you. Good swing on should be good. This guy is dialed in. Oh. Oh, just a yard or two. Yeah, this place is really cool and really playable when you hit it in the right spot, even when you miss it in the right spot as Kamorawa did there. Inside two feet for Morawa, formality. Holes later, a par three that’s playing over 200 yds. That’s pretty sweet. Ora’s on the team playing his little cut to perfection. Yeah, I heard John say earlier he’s driving it beautifully and that’s what you expect from Morawa. That reliable cut. This is at the sixth columawa. He’s off to a good start as well. Chance to keep attacking from the fairway and he does really good. Morawa has this for birdie and he gets it to go. This guy’s been playing some consistently. There’s not enough of breeze right now to factor it in. That’s not really hard for Joe to caddy for right there. 68 right down the middle. Another 15. Only one of the best short arm players. The win has to come, right? I think that’s uh why the caddy changed. Okay, Colin has six wins. 11 seconds, 44 top 10s. Went into uh one of the maintenance buildings yesterday and there’s a big whiteboard with every hole on all the golf courses in there with detailed notes. Oh, the folks have certainly shown up here in Philadelphia. And Colin was expecting that to jump a little bit. It did tumble. It was a terrible angle to that left hole location. And Yeah, you can eliminate half the golf course when you know that thing’s going to move from left to right. He was aim down the left rough line and just Yeah. knowing that it’s going to move left to right, tumble down the bottom of the fairway. Beautiful. I got a bird. I got a bird. Yeah, he’s got it going. Backto back birdies and to seven under par. just needs to cut more. Oh no. Yeah, it’s it’s one of those. Oh great shot. Miss for Par Colin. I mean Frankie had to land it perfectly. Wasn’t a great lie. Two great up and downs we’ve seen. Would be last to go. But meanwhile, back on the tea here. Kamorakawa. Stay away finder. Big first bounce. Stays right there. He’s ready to go right. Did just not enough. I would keep an eye on him over the next three days. Yeah, I like that call from John McInness. Start a 63 today. When you look back on this round, this opening round, what aspects are you most proud of? Well, look, there’s a lot of new uh between me and Joe and uh I have to take a lot of accountability on that and for me to go out there and describe my shots and just own those shots. Uh you know, that’s what we have to do, especially starting this new partnership. So, I I’m pretty pretty proud of just how I played and and you know, stayed true to just playing solid golf out there. It’s just your first competitive round together. How would you describe the comfort you guys have out there? Yeah, we you know, we we played last week for a day. Obviously, we’ve had a few days out here, but it’s something that I’ve never had to deal with and and and learn and uh but I appreciate what what I’m going through right now and um at the end of the day, like like I said, I have to take accountability going through this with him and it’s been a lot of fun. What do you appreciate about it? Well, you know, just owning owning up to hitting my own shots. You know, it’s it’s sometimes you get in this rhythm and it could be great and sometimes it can be bad and um at the end of the day, I still have to execute the shots no matter who I describe it to, who I talk to. And um that’s that’s part of this learning curve right now. Finally, um Philly Cricket Club, you and I were talking, not a lot of players have seen this course, if if any of in the field. How well do you feel like you know this golf course right now? Uh not at all. I mean, uh, so much. And then you’re going to get tomorrow where it should be raining all day and it’s going to play completely different. Um, even today played a lot different than how our practice rounds went on Tuesday and Wednesday. So, it’s it’s just going to be a week where you have to adjust. Holes are going to play a lot different. Uh, you’re going to hit different T- shots and um, you just have to, you know, who’s going to be the best at adjusting over the next 54. As always, appreciate your time, Colin. Thank you. Thanks, Todd. Thanks for watching the PJ Tour on YouTube. For more videos, click here. To subscribe, click
