so I just watched Phil Nicholson’s 2025 what’s in the bag on the High Flyers YouTube page and he has one of the craziest iron setups I have ever seen in my life we’ve got to talk about it so the irons themselves are a Callaway X Forge Japan only model these came out in 2024 and basically replaced what he had in the bag which was a 2013 set of Callaway X forged here’s the thing because they were Japan only they only came in right-handed which means Callaway had to take this design read design it in CAD in left-handed and then fully Mill each and every head in the iron set and although I thought it would be difficult to estimate how much this would cost there is actually a full Reddit threat about CN seeing an iron head if you can believe it and this guy who claims to be a machinist says it would cost you somewhere around 1K with all of the costs per head which means that for the six heads five through pitching wedge that he has it would cost somewhere around $6,000 for this set but of course because it’s Phil Mickelson it absolutely does not end there now the sole right here is pretty tight on the Leading Edge this is important because when you get in Fairway bunkers you’ve got to have that Leading Edge tight if it’s rolled good luck Tes what the hell does that mean well basically let’s think about it like this that is a relatively flat iron sole it allows you to get the Leading Edge in near the golf ball before the middle of the sole contacts the ground and while this is certainly not a perfect example you can see if there’s any roll or camber in the sole there’s a high point and this High Point will catch that Fairway bunker first before you you can get the Leading Edge near the golf ball thus creating not very clean contact it’s got a little bit of a bounce back here another little bounce back here but it Glides through the turf and as you can see I took some of the heel I took some of the toe off so I have less interaction it allows me to hit be a little bit more creative get in different lies a little bit easier side Hill lies without having the heel or toe interrupt the shot so there’s the straight Leading Edge and then he’s talking about having basically a triple cut sole grind so you have a middle of the sole this middle is basically the main bounce and then you also have Trail Edge relief this makes it so you do not feel that back Edge catch when you get near the golf ball the closest current Soul grind on the market to what Phil has from that perspective is going to be the ell SMS Pro this next part though might just be the coolest Edition and it makes me want to do this to my irons right now he’s added heal and Tow relief on his irons which makes this probably one of the most versatile Iron Soul grinds in existence now this is something that shrix on does on their irons as you can see toe relief and you’ve got your heel relief but obviously we just have a dual soul on this not the triple cut soul and as far as shafts go he has Mitsubishi mmt 115 TX prototypes they only make these in a 125 and a 105 so the 115 is a Proto made just for him my guess is the profile is a little bit different and probably closer to the KBS he’s used for a very long time

Love gour channel bro. Keep this stuff up! Lets get you more subs!
Great breakdown! Love getting even more info on his setup. Any idea on his grips and grip size he uses?
Phil pisses 10k each time he pisses…
The CAD redesign is just saving mirrored parts
Mizuno just added a triple cut too. Seems like it's becoming more popular
