This Nearly Cost Tiger the Championship
one of the finest acts of sportsmanship that I have ever seen. Recently on the podcast, we had Steve Scott on and he tells a story about Tiger’s third championship. They were paired together as the final group and he tells a great story about helping Tiger move his ball marker. I saw it on TV. Tiger had marked his ball and had moved his mark because it was in Steve’s line. And Tiger wasn’t obviously thinking and he went to just put his ball back down and he was about to pick up his mark and Steve in probably one of the greatest displays of sportsmanship I’ve ever said, “Tiger, you need to move your mark back.” Tiger was like, “Oh, thanks.” And he moved the mark back and then made the putt. To make the putt to win. And if he didn’t tell him, it would have been a two-stroke penalty and Steve would have won. It would have been an automatic loss of hole I’ve ever seen.
Steve Scott shared a story about playing with Tiger Woods.
They were in the final group when Tiger forgot to move his ball marker back.
Steve reminded him, even though it could have cost him the win.
It was a simple act of sportsmanship that still stands out to Dr. Bob Jones IV today.

Its the honorable thing to do. Well done Steve. Everybody wants to win the right way – not by injustice. The scenario is; Steve will have asked Tiger to move the ball marker – it should be incumbent upon the person who requests to ensure the marker is returned to its correct position.
Well done to Steve. If he didn't do it he would forever be remembered for the wrong reasons.
As it turns out the Amateur wins are not being taken into account. Are they?
Can't see Tiger doing the same thing!
