We’ll kick things off with a super chat from Seth, who asks about Thor Griffith, the undrafted free agent the Seahawks signed at nose tackle from Louisville. Seth is excited about Thor’s size, 320 lb, and motor, having watched his tape. Now, while I share Seth’s enthusiasm, it’s important to temper expectations. UDFAs face a tough road to make the 53man roster. They don’t get the same benefits as drafted players. So even if they perform well, there’s no guarantee they’ll make the cut. Thor might impress in training camp, and if not on the 53man roster, he could end up on the practice squad, ready to step up if an opportunity arises. Let’s keep our expectations in check, but root for him to succeed. Next up, a question from Hawks Rule about J Alexander asking whether the Seahawks might trade for the Green Bay Packers quarterback. Alexander is an intriguing player. He’s had some ups and downs, particularly with injuries, but when healthy, he’s been highly productive. In 2022, he posted five interceptions. And in 2024, despite only playing seven games, he had one interception, a pick six, and seven pass breakups. The Seahawks definitely need cornerback help. And while I would be open to acquiring Alexander, the big question is the trade cost. Seattle has cap space, but what would they have to give up to make this deal happen? With the possibility of not receiving any compensatory draft picks next year, Seattle might be reluctant to give up too much. What do you think? Should the Seahawks trade for Jer Alexander? Type T for trade or P for pass in the comments. Next, Beta YT asks, “Who I think will have the most visible impact this season.” While the casual fan might not notice the improvements in the offensive line, they’ll certainly see results if the run game flourishes and Sam Darnold stays protected. But for someone with more noticeable flash, I’m looking at Nick Emmanuri. He’s a firstround caliber player and could make an immediate impact, especially with Seattle using three safeties at times. He has a bright future in this defense and I expect him to make his mark early. Moving on to another question from Beta 12s, who wonders if the Seahawks should trade for Adam Thelen, as rumors suggest the Panthers might be looking to move him. Thelen has been a reliable receiver in the NFL, but has struggled with injuries in recent years. In 2023, he still managed over 1,000 yards and four touchdowns, but his numbers dropped last season. He is a slot receiver, which doesn’t quite match the Seahawks need for an outside receiver who can stretch the field. As much as I respect Thelen’s career, I don’t see him being a fit for Seattle’s current needs. What do you think? Should the Seahawks go after Thelen? Type Y for yes or N for no in the comments. Now, Matt writes in asking which player I wish the Seahawks had drafted. This is a tough one, Matt. If we’re talking about players who went before Seattle’s pick, I would have loved to see cornerback Tyreek Stevenson join the team, but he was gone by the time Seattle was on the clock. I think Seattle did well with their picks, but looking at later rounds, I would have liked to see them grab quarterback Quincy Riley, who went undrafted, but overall, I’m happy with how the draft turned out. Kingszoa asks if Nick Emanuri could be moved to cornerback instead of safety. That’s an interesting idea, but right now it looks like the Seahawks plan to use him as a safety. He’s been compared to Kyle Hamilton, who excels in a hybrid role, but I don’t foresee a position change for Emmanuri at this point. The more likely scenario is that players like Kobe Bryant could potentially shift back to corner if needed. Finally, Raw Hector asks if there’s a free agent right guard the Seahawks could sign to solidify the offensive line. There are a few intriguing options still available. Brandon Sherf would be a great fit, though he might be expensive. Dalton Risner is another option who could provide solid depth without breaking the bank. These players could help shore up the right guard position and improve the line’s overall performance. That’s all for today’s show.
