All right. What’s good, guys? Welcome back to Golf and Gospel. Obviously, I brought my homie Nate back and obviously with the NFL draft just finishing this past weekend, me and Nate are going to lock in and do a PGA/live draft, seven rounds with the option of picking two free agents, man. But before we get into that, uh, obviously I want to pay my respects and speak about the LPGA. They just played in the Chevron Championship, which is essentially again, guys, the masters for women’s golf, man. So Nate, for you, do you have any initial takes on the tournament itself or shoot, do you want to just like get right into the the playoff scenario that happened? That was exciting. I mean, it was kind of slow like you didn’t know who’s going to take control of it. Yeah. Um, and you didn’t know if uh it came down, huh? I thought she was going to pull away with it. Oh, yeah. I I thought she was, too. Um, yeah. So, I want to hear your an your thoughts on this, too. We’ve talked about this before. So, obviously, she got over the water for Eagle in that scenario, which you have put chipped. And I know a lot of times you say you would have chipped, but what would you have done that scenario? And if you were going to chip, tell me why you would have chipped. So, I I wouldn’t have chipped that. Okay. That shot looked like putting because she had a lot of room to work with before the green light. She had a lot of non green to work with and then a little amount of green and it was looking really dry and it looked like it came downhill after the putt. So, with or after like it the ball gets on the green, it looks like it just slopes downhill. Yeah. So with shots like that, it’s and it looked like it was tight lie. It was dry. It’s really hard to get some zip and like fly over those little sprinkler heads that she had to carry. Um and also like when it comes to like woman’s golf, they don’t get a lot of spin. So I I think she would I think she made the right move. Uh like this is the other thing too. So when I play southern dunes like uh uh Kasa Gron Yep. I I almost never chip it. Okay. Because it’s so dry out there. Yeah. Yeah. Like At least when I played it in the summers, it was always Oh, yeah. Especially out here. Yeah. Yeah. It was super dry and dude, it just even when you’re off the green, it was like the green. Yeah. And that’s kind of what it looked like. Her putt was like I think she thought it was going to be slower than it was obviously cuz she Yeah. It flew. It flew. Yeah. Yeah. that that that that birdie putt was clutch cuz I’m like this is no this is no gimme and I would have hated if she would have took herself out of the scenario to get to that obviously five person playoff man. So it was a really good birdie putt by her but I love that she was aggressive. She was like man I’m going to try to win this thing. I’m not going to try to play it safe. Yeah. Yeah. And I I don’t blame her man. Uh, I do want to speak about obviously the face of the LPJ, uh, Nelly Carter because I know she is going to watch Golf and Gospel because you know what else would you watch here. Um, she, for people who don’t watch, you know, women’s professional golf, to give you an analogy, she’s pretty much the Scotty Sheffller of the LPJ, but in respect to her, she is Nelly Carter. But they’re both in similar situations this year. Both of them are currently still the number one ranked golfers in their profession and they both have not captured a win. I believe Scotty won seven last year. I think also Nelly won seven last year as well. Uh but she came out pretty slow, plus five on day one. She was like second to last place. I’m like, bro, she might not even make the cut. She fought back. She fought back in a in an amazing way. And I want to hear your thoughts on this, too, because this is a trend I’ve kind of been seeing quite a bit. She actually uh after the first day, she went and switched her putter. She made the switch from a blade putter back to a mallet. How often are you or how familiar are you are you with golf college golfers or professional golfers switching clubs in like a middle of a tournament? Because this is the same thing that Colin did last year at the Masters. and went on a had a really great season. Didn’t really capture a win, but like that changed like everything for him. And obviously Scotty changed his part too. Although Scotty didn’t do it in the middle of a tournament, uh which I guess that does differ because you have time to practice, but to do it in the middle of a tournament, man, how often are you like aware of these things happening, dude? So, one of my friends growing up, I’m going to give him a shout out, Jimmy Kosakowski. He’s a he’s a baller. He was I think he won conference when he was at GCU. Nice. Back when it was D2. He’s a really good player. He won the Jack Nicholas award, too. Wow. But he’s like a putter fiend. He’s got a million putters in his garage and he he would do that. And obviously like the person that putts it is ultimately in control. You like the putter doesn’t really play that big of a role. Yeah. Like it controls the face and whatever. Like, and if you’re a player, tell yourself that. That’s great. But I I think like when you’re when you’re missing stuff, you kind of need like a a different frame, a different vibe, a different juju, you know? Yeah. I I I do that, too. So, I I don’t want to hate on people. I don’t necessarily do it in the in the middle of a tournament. Yeah, that’s the thing. That’s crazy. But yeah, if I if my putter’s cold like tournament after tournament, round after round, I’m like, “Let’s throw this thing away.” But then but I don’t throw it away. I always I might come back to because like then the next putter might stop working. I’ll have to go back to that one because I think I think what happened is she like it says she she changed the purse like she made the switch from her blade back to a mallet. So obviously she was mallet went blade and then back to the mallet again. So, I guess it’s all depicted on how you’re feeling that day or what’s like what’s hot that season, but I always feel like man, the switching middle of a tournament like bold move, but I I’m not a professional golfer or played it at any degree of college or whatever to know like if this is a common thing, but like I I just remember when college did it last year, that would really change this season. Yeah. Yeah. I I think that’s a bold move, but if it goes in the right direction, you know, I I like I I think if I would have done it and it like went well and I started to putt well the next day, I would change my putter every freaking tournament. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely, man. Um so yeah, I she it might have happened to her before. So yeah, and it’s it’s funny, too, cuz she changed the putter. She was plus five day one, came out, had went back to back bogey. Then it’s like, all right, maybe that change didn’t help. And then she went on to get six birdies. Man, that really just changed everything for her. Ended up making the cut when, you know, it was a risk that she wasn’t. And uh I kind of like this quote that she said. Obviously, I don’t know where Nelly stands in regards to like her obviously u her faith in terms of salvation. But she was speaking about how like it was a ve she quoted saying very up and down day. Just my word today was to have faith. That was my motto. I didn’t really have much after I made the two bogeies on day two, but I just kept repeating myself. grind and keep your head down and have faith. Obviously, what we been well, I’ve had you on before on golf and gospel. One of the main thing I’m always emphasizing on just having faith in obviously in everything we do, which can also be on the golf course. Uh ultimately, the end goal is to I’m hoping people have faith in obviously Lord Jesus Christ, but we see how important a factor of just faith in itself plays just in a profession. And uh and we see the importance of like selft talk not to say that Nelly can manifest something but I love when it talks about in uh proverbs 12:25 it says anxiety weighs a man’s heart down but a good word cheers him up. You can be using the word of God or just a simple good word is have faith man and grind this thing out. And we see how that really like you know changed the trajectory of her game man. So I mean it it was it was awesome. It’s It’s still crazy she hasn’t captured a win this year yet, but I wonder if she’s going to have the same uh I guess reaction Colin did last year when he changes put her at the masters. Just went on a tear. Yeah. I mean, I hope she does. Uh because I I think like for a minute we were thinking she’s going to be like the Caitlyn Clark or the Serena Williams of women’s golf and and to an extent I still think she she Yeah. Yeah. you know, but like we really thought she was gonna turn LPG around last year. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And it’s funny. So, if people who haven’t watched the the podcast I did with Emma Tally, shout out to my dog Emma, she talked about how like, man, that she wished that, and I hope I’m not misquing her, you guys go back and watch. Uh, but she wish that the LPJ did a better job like showcasing the season that Nelly really had because like that was an incredible season that wasn’t really uh I guess broadcasted or marketed well unless you like are really really avid golf fan or women’s golfer. Like I think if I could ask like a guy down the street like you know who Sky Chef is like yeah for sure. But like the season Nelly had was just incredible and it it wasn’t, you know, broadcasted enough and that might not be the LPGA’s fault. I don’t but I I but to some degree someone should have done something to show and like like Emma said too, she was on the cover of Vogue. She was on the cover all these other things, man. Uh she was like she took the gala by storm, man. So I wish I did a better job of just like showcasing her and obviously women’s women’s golf. Yeah. Particularly last year, I think like women’s sports was really making a Oh, yeah. Yeah, for sure. a surge, if you will. So, like that that would have been the time to do it, especially with how hot how hot she was playing. And she’s a good-looking golfer. So, yeah, that, you know, we’re all we’re vain creatures. So, yeah. you know. So, uh yeah, I feel like they could have done a lot a lot better job just promoting her and especially just how how impressive because she won didn’t she won one extra tournament than Scotty cuz like Scotty won five in a row. I think so. I think so. I think so. Yeah. Yeah. I was definitely tuning in more to women’s golf especially during that that beginning. And and then also if you watch the chevron like the uh when they do like the they they interviewed her and you just hear everyone you could just hear like the crowds you Nelly like little girls like Yeah. Yeah. It’s really cool. I I when I was I went to a tournament in person down in Florida last year. I think in Brandon or Brayon I keep confusing. I think it was Brandon. And if you see the crowd that follow Nelly it’s insane bro. insane. Little kids, people my age, old people, they’re like, “Yo, she just has a massive crowd around her.” And her and uh I would say for the most part, Lexi Thompson did too, which I kind of want to talk about her a little bit, too, because she’s technically retired, but hasn’t missed a tournament yet. But, uh, I thought it would been really amazing to see her win this again. She was in the running at one point. I think after day three, she was six under. I’m like, “Dog, Lexi’s about to lock in and like, you know, take this thing.” Uh, I know day one she was a little streaky off the tea. Uh, but t like I said, day two and day three she finished with four under and then also finished with six under off the day three. So, I’m like, man, she can just keep this momentum. She can definitely come out with a victory. Uh, but day four is kind of where it got a little shaky for her and stuff, too. So, she wasn’t really uh making herself a contender, but I think it was still a really good finish for Lexi. And like I said, I’m I’m a huge fan of Lexi, man. If you go back and look at the episode I did with Torrance the Googat episode, we did like a a Ryder Cup draft and we had to pick one LPGA, one PGA, one female content creator, one male content creator. I pick Lexi, bro. I think she has a powerful swing. She’s a really good player. Uh, and I just well, even though she’s retired, but she’s been playing in every tournament. I thought if she was retiring, she was like picking and choosing which tournaments to play in, like maybe she would have been well rested, you know, to like, you know, play out this tournament. And not to say she tired out or anything, but I think she gave it a good fight, but yeah, she wasn’t able to like get into that, you know, that contending spot like she would have liked to. Yeah, she she finished with a birdie. So yeah, we all say whip free on top of poop, you know. I never heard that. So I would take that though. Um, but sure, we can real quick get to like the the five player playoff, which is like the most, you know, players in the playoff in LPJ history, man. And, uh, it’s crazy. So, when I got to the five player playoff, every prediction me and Emma had, like the people to make it, like none of them were in it. But, uh, Janagard, I believe how you say her name, I had her sister in my predictions, but a sister to make the cut. So then I started rooting for her sister, man. And uh I know one thing that really hurt her, I think it was on whole 18 before the playoffs, she duffed a chip on. Yeah. Yeah. And that hurt so much, which uh gave her the bogey to put her back at seven under to tie with the other five players, bro. Oh, other four players. So if she would have not had that and uh just simply chipped on and came out with a par, bro, she would have been obviously a major champion. But uh I thought this was super exciting, bro. Like if I play a playoff, I don’t think this ever happened in the PJ as far as I know. Can you know? Uh but what was like what was your emotions like going into watching, man? Cuz I was watching my wife and I was like hyped like, yo, this is awesome and no one’s probably paying this thing attention. I know, dude. I I was like, dude, five player playoff cuz I was nervous that it was going to go on forever. Yeah, 18 is a hard hole at at at that course, though. It’s a hard home. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It reminds me of like a course here in town called Logan Tree. It’s kind of got like a I never played there. Yeah. I’m always down there in Chandler Gilbert. I want to play there though. Oh yeah. It was my home course growing up. So I love I love the guys out there. But yeah, like 18 par five and like the Well, except for this this hole. It looks like a dog’s right. Um and uh Oh, yeah. It goes right and then back left. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But like the approach is like where Yes. the green kind of curves. Yes. To the left um and there’s water. It’s a really interesting hole. And I thought I was just thinking like uh who was the two the it wasn’t Mao. She hit a great drive. Yeah. Uh Jerard, she she had the furthest drive out of all of them. Oh, okay. Yeah, never mind. Yeah. One of the girls hit one like it was just a perfect cut right around the corner and I was like might have been Hannigar. Yeah. No, it was Kim. Kim, she hit a really short one and she laid up. She did. Yep. And I was thinking like did you see uh what was it? Run yin. Okay. She hit that uh approach and it was to 10 ft. Yeah. I was like yo. Yeah. Yeah. Imagine imagine you just laid up. I know. Boy, that’s so intimidating. And those greens weren’t holding either. So when hers sat, I was like, “Dog.” Yeah. Yeah. That speed behind that one. Oh, yeah. The other two just like bounced and went over the green. Now, one of that was also strategic with that cuz everybody was hitting off that back wall. Yeah. Yeah. But hers landed like in the front of the green, which is like real risky. Yes. Yeah. Real risky. But it she it just went like 10 feet. Man, dude, I just felt I felt bad for uh Duncan and Tim just like, “Oh, shoot. She’s 10 for Eagle.” For Eagle, right? And she three putted, but no one knew that she was gonna do that. Three putt. Yeah. Yeah. She’s like, “Oh, shoot. Heavy for Eagle.” Yeah. I’m 100 yards for Eagle, right? Yeah. And I think it’s also a crazy just we see the importance of just playing your game too cuz like her doing that could have made people do something uncharacteristic but they stuck to what even though they went before her and they laid up which is fine. We still saw the outcome was totally different bro. And the thing that sucks is I don’t know she had her first puffy eagle stayed on the high side I believe but then it was a little quick downhill. Did her did her birdie lip out or was that? Yeah. Yeah. And then and then uh Jannerard hers also lipped out too. I’m like what? That’s what you hit me up. You said yo there’s a repellent on this hole. There’s a repellent on that hole. Looked out for her birdie. Yeah. Cuz they would have went through another playoff at that point if uh if they would if they both made it. Yeah. So go ahead. That’s that’s one of those things like if I was the caddy and like someone like one of my my player lay it up and I see that 10footer for eagle up like hey just cuz you lay it up doesn’t mean you can’t get birdie. That’s like one of those things you got to say like yeah play your game you can still make birdie from here. It’s 100 yards for sure. And for all we know they probably did say that. Yeah. For all we know. Yeah. Right. Right man. So uh but yeah I mean congratulations to Sego man. Hey, this is her second year on the LPGA and it was her first LPJ win which was a major which again guys if you don’t follow women’s golf the chevron is essentially like the masters for the men man. So this was huge for her to get this win man. So you know shout out to the LPGA man. Uh they put on a great outing at the the Carlton Wood Club in in Texas and uh I am very excited to see the next major and see like who could come out on top. Man, I I think uh I got to do a little bit better job studying. I don’t think my predictions were terrible at all, but like none of them cracked it. I mean, Lexi was the closest one and I was like, man, she looks so vintage right now, but obviously didn’t close it out. But, uh I would love for us to, you know, transition a little bit, talk about the Zurich a little bit. Uh we don’t want to go fully into it, but I will say this. I do respect Rory for this right here cuz I heard that uh Shane Lowry hit up Rory and was like, “Hey, uh Rory, you we don’t have to play in this if you don’t want to, man. Obviously Rory, he didn’t play in the RBC. Just got his uh career grand slam.” I think he I I guess they said he went to Ireland to go visit his parents. I didn’t know if his parents going to come here. So Shane’s like, “Bro, we don’t have to do this.” And our respect works. He was like, “No, man. Let’s go try to defend this thing, bro. I’m going to lock in with you.” was just uh I just highly respect Roy. I know he been watching Roy been watching Golf and Gospel too cuz he been proving me wrong. But I I highly respect that gesture to say, “Man, Shane, we’ve been rocking together, bro. Let’s see if we can close this thing out.” Uh unfortunately, they didn’t though. They finished with a T12. Uh they were that low. I didn’t even I didn’t really watch the zero. I was keeping up with but I was trying to put more of my focus on the chevron. I really wanted to honor, you know, women’s golf and watch that, man. But yeah, they fish with T12. They were they at one point they were like uh T4. Uh was obviously something happened. They finished out pretty strong with two backto-back birdies on day four, but I believe they finished with T12. Um but as we move on, uh I am happy to see that Novak got his first PGA Tour win. Uh, and I’m sure you probably know this, Nate, but I’m going to say anyways, there there’s some pros and cons to playing and winning in the Zurich. So, the pros is get paid. Good purse. Good little purse to get there. It actually counts as a PGA win. And additionally, you earn 400 400 FedEx Cup points and you gain entry into PGA Championships and the player championships by winning, which is awesome. So, shout out to, you know, Big Griffin and Novak. But the con is despite being an official PJ tour event, there are no uh you’re not award any you’re not awarded any official world golf rings. Oh yeah. So, you know, bittersweet, you know, you get money, you it does count as your first PGA victory. I’m sure Novak would like to win one on his own, but I mean, but I’m not taking anything from like his last three weeks of golf have been incredible. and just came off a heartbreaking loss to JT, which we’re all happy for JT to make that clutch birdie, but uh I think this was a very well earned win because he was making some chip in birdies like like Novak held his own, man. Really, dude? See, he chipped in at the RBC last week a couple times, yeah. So, if it’s one thing if Yeah. I think if you just see that film from Novak, it’s like, dog, I’m I’m trusting you simply off of obviously he’s a big hitter. We talked about that last week. Yeah. and his chipping has been amazing. Uh, I’m not doubting his putter at all. Obviously, maybe nerves got him last week, but we see in team events, bro, like he’s played super well. He might be like, at least in the current rankings, not world rankings, he might be like 11 or 12th maybe. So, he’s he’s making a name for I hope I’m not wrong, man. I want to let me uh let me peep that, bro. Let me see. I got I got I got it pulled up right now because Yeah. See where he’s right there? Well, earnings this year he’s ranked six. It goes Rory, JT, Russell, Henley, Kymore, Kyle, Luic, Oberg, Andrew Novak, man. He’s making him a pretty penny this year, dude. Novak is six for FedEx Cup rankings. Yeah. Yeah. So, I say I’m Yeah. Okay. Yeah. He’s ahead of Marawa, bro. He’s been he’s been in contention a lot. He just he hasn’t been able to close this year, but he’s a young player, bro. Like, he’s he’s he’s making a really good name for himself this year, man. Heck yeah, he is, dude. He’s up there. Yeah, it will be crazy if he fights his way to that top six on a Ryder Cup year. Yeah, I mean, that would be huge. A huge year for him. Yeah. And and yeah, very very needed for his career. I do want to see him pull off a uh a solo win though at some point this year. Yeah. Yeah, I really do. And like I said, I’m not discrediting for anything what he did at the uh at the Zurich, man, cuz he he has some great shots. It’s not like Ben carried him at all. I think that was a great team effort by both of them. Yeah. Yeah. Still, it’s like an asterisk win. Yeah. Yeah. Essentially, though, but again, cuz I’m I’m pretty cordial with Nove. I want I want to give him his flowers, man. But uh but at this point, yeah, like so now uh guys, we here we can move on to our our draft, man. So again, me and Nate, we get seven seven round pick. Seven rounds, seven picks and then we get to sign two undrafted free agents towards the end and we’ll see who has the better team. You guys let us know in the comments. And again, like and subscribe. Now, real quick, go ahead. Before we get going, I’m curious because this just happened. We all saw Cam Scataboo or Quinners get drafted. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. What What was your draft day experience like? It’s good question, bro. Uh it was fun and nerve-wracking. So, I just did a podcast not too long ago. I think it might come out Tuesday. Yeah. Yeah. And he asked me about that and it was a great time, bro. Um, the funniest part about draft day, I I knew I wasn’t going in the first or second. Third was going to be a reach, but I knew I was a day three guy and uh you just holding tight to your phone cuz like they don’t want to miss this call, but you get really anxious like dog like are you going to someone going to call me and your and then you hate that people like randomly text you or just get notification because it kind of like plays with your emotions. And I remember at one point I was like, I can’t hold this phone anymore. I threw it to my my best friend Jose. And uh literally as soon as it touched Jose’s hands, like the phone rang. And I remember I remember joking. We always talk about like they actually gave you the phone like two rounds ago. But uh he he uh he calls he tells me to pick up. It’s New York Giants, bro. Tom Coughlin. And uh yeah, they drafted me uh pick 186. And it was very exciting. And it was funny cuz my mom was like, “Yo, Jose, turn the TV up.” This fool Jose went over there accidentally turned the TV off. So then we didn’t get to see like my name and stuff. But luckily, we turned it on. We were able to rewind it and like get that moment. But we always joke to say that Jose was the hero and the villain in the same day, bro. But it was super fun because of multiple multiple things. Obviously, like my dream came true. I got to hear hear my name call. I got drafted. Uh one of my friends, uh he got drafted in the fourth round. So, it was awesome cuz we got drafted the same day. And then on top of that, um our boy Dion the Shields, he was in MLB, but he was part of this rule five trade. People who watch this, they understand baseball. He was part of the rule five trade and got sent from Houston to the Rangers and he got promoted to the big leagues. So, it felt like all three of us got promoted like at the same time to like the highest of our professions, man. So, uh it was it was an amazing time, man. I’m super grateful to experience that. It felt very nostalgic nostalgic, you know, watching the draft this year and kind of reminisce. And I always kind of look like, man, who’s picked 186 this year? Cuz that’s what I always picked. I never like know who the guy is, but like you know the number 186 has someone special in my heart because of that was the pick I was. So uh it it was amazing man and that’s one of those days you kind of wish you can like do it again. Yeah. Did you get like all emotional and like shadow did or? Nah, I never been a crier, bro. So I just got really really happy was just smiling a lot. Uh my boy, my mom was there, my grandmother, I think my little league coach was there too. And then uh my boy Nick Williams, he was my teammate at Yukon. He was already in the league for I think either a year then he was playing with the Redskins but Commanders. And then I said my best friend Jose and then my other best friend Ryan King, bro. So Ryan uh he went to Max house first. Chill with Max. match got drafted and then Ryan sprinted over to my house, came over and then I got drafted. So, it was cool that Ryan Yeah. Ryan got the experience, you know, both of us getting moments. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And like I said, Ryan, Jose, like those were two dudes that they were Jose was my best man at my wedding. Ryan was a groomsman and I was a groomsman. Ryan went. So, those are guys like I’m like super tight with, bro. So, it was cool experiencing all that stuff with like close family, friends. I didn’t have like a big party or anything. It was it was probably like a total of nine of us in my house, bro. So, it wasn’t nothing crazy. I didn’t have no cameras. I wasn’t like a huge obviously I was going to get drafted, but I wasn’t like a huge guy. It’s like, “Yo, let’s bring the cameras to his house.” But, uh, I like it. It was intimate, bro. It was only nine of us. It was very intimate. Yeah. Yeah. That’s cool. Yeah. No offense, but you probably like weren’t like a big name like Quinns or Probably for Yukon. I was, but like to the college. Yeah. Like if I would have repeated what I did my junior year, you know, maybe maybe but my senior year uh which is a whole totally story different story didn’t uh pan out like my junior year though. But uh but yeah, otherwise still grateful, you know, to like I said hear my name call, bro. But uh the main thing is let’s see who names we’re going to be calling right now. Um yeah, I I was thinking is who who do we decide how do we decide who goes first? I don’t know. T flip. Uh, do you have one on you? I don’t have a T on me, unfortunately. All right, I’m I’mma keep it honest here. I’mma just flip this pin. Okay. If it lands anywhere towards you or me, I’ll let you know. So, that was a bad flip. All right. Landed towards me. Oh, wait. So, wait. The criteria. What’s the criteria? Like, we’re we’re picking players. Are we gonna pick players as if they’re gonna play next week or are we going to pick players like they’re gonna play a whole season? They’ll play a whole season. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So, we’re bringing we’re bringing a football environment into golf or golf environment football, however, however you however you put put it. But, uh, so my first pick, bro, I think it’s pretty obvious. I mean, this guy as of this year has some character issues with some outbursts, some anger moments, but we all know he’s a dog. Uh, seven time winner last year. Hasn’t captured a win this year, but I would be a fool if I didn’t start off with Scotty Sheffller, bro. All right, dude. So, with the first pick of the Golf and Gospel podcast, you take Scotty. Scotty Sheffler, bro. Scotty Sheffler. Well, how long of a clock do I have? Just kidding. It’s not gonna be like 10 minutes like the uh the real draft. But I mean, yeah. Yeah. What kind of blows my mind is like when the like the first pick of the draft, they’re like 10 minutes. Yeah. You know, exactly. You know, you already did your homework. You could have feel the phone calls earlier. Um anyways, my second pick, I’m probably gonna take Ferrari. Okay. first two names probably flying off quick. And you know, I’m okay with you picking Rory, man, because I don’t think I was going to have Rory at two, judging from my scouting and my board. I think because Scotty is a great dude. I think he can lead my team, but he does have anger issues. I need someone who’s going to bring some joy and some happiness to the room. A fun guy, also a big hitter. I’m going to go with Bryson Dashambo, bro. D, I thought you were going with JT with that. You just had a fun guy. No, I’m going with Bryson, dog. Dang, dude. This is tough, dude. Having the second pick sucks. Royy’s not a I mean, obviously my scouting of Rory, I’m going to say, man, he’s kind of a cocky guy, but he’s a heck of a player. Can he Can he lead our team to victory? But technically, you saw him do that with the Ryder Cup, so you know, he has leadership qualities. Yeah. I think. What’s the third pick? Well, your second your second overall fourth pick. Yeah. Oh, sorry. Fourth pick. My bad. Um, I probably have to go with Xander. Wow. A guy who just came off a rib injury. I think it’s going to be up and up from here, though. I love that. I mean, dude, he didn’t do anything. He was kind of quiet in the earlier in the year last year. So, he might be a, you know, a second half. Yeah. But second half of the season kind of guy could be. So, let’s go Xander. I like the pick. All right. So, you know, heading into the third round here. Fifth pick. I’m going with a guy, young guy, tons of upside, pretty quiet, but I think he has an intimidating presence. big hitter as well, great ball striker, has of lately had the the squanders on hole 18 at the Masters, but we see we see he is capable of winning. If we go back and look at the Genesis and his performance at the Ryder Cup two years ago, give me Louic Oberg. Dang it. That was my next pick. Must be looking at my draft board or something. I got my own big boy right here next to me, bro. Dang it. Uh, let’s see. Well, my next best player available was just taken, so I gota I might have to use up all my clock. There you go. Um, let’s see. All right. You know what? Maybe maybe I won’t go for best player available. I’ll go for, you know, position. I love it. Um, this guy has been doing really well with scramble drills, you know. Uh, so situationally, I think we can take him. So, I’ll And we need a fun guy in the room. I’ll take JT. Jess Thomas. That is a good pick for a third rounder. All right. I still have my board here. [Music] Uh man, you know, I think this guy does very well. Uh, you know, I’mma hold back. I’m going hope you don’t steal this guy. Again, I’ve been a big fan of this guy for the past three years. Just spoke about him earlier earlier today on the pod. He uh he changed his putter last year at the Masters. Been playing really good. has been a solid number top four golfer the last two years. Uh two-time major winner, I’m going to take uh Korawa. All right. So, with my fourth pick, I’m going to take I think I’m gonna go with John Rom. Wow. I think after hitting that 426 yard drive, got to go positions, you know. I got my scrambler short game guy in the last pick. So, I got to fill the long drive need. So, Jean Rom, I’m okay with that. He wasn’t on my board. I’ll say that much though. All right, we’re looking at the fifth round. So, now we get to obviously might find some sleepers at this point. You know, uh this guy I would say is a little streaky, but when he wins he wins. Uh, also a Masters winner, won the century this year. Japan’s finest. Give me Hideki Masama. That he’s a good pick. A little bit streaky. You’re right. Yes. Yes. But I’m I’m willing to take the risk with Hideki. But when he’s hot, he’s hot. Hard to beat. If I just If I just bait him with some Chick-fil-A, he’s going to play better. All right. Well, I don’t I I don’t know how this guy hasn’t been taken yet. So, I’m gonna take Neman. Oh, okay. I I tried to like just let him like maybe be let him be a steal for me cuz he’s a best player available on my board right now. So, I like it. I like it. People watch Go ahead. I think he fell I think he slipped in this draft though. He’s the Shador Sanders man. Heador man. He slipped all the way to the fifth. Ironically, that was Yeah. Round five. But that’s a good dude. That’s a good starting five. You know, it is, man. Pretty happy with that. Going into our sixth round. Look at my clock here. Not my clock. Look at my big board here. You know what? I’mma go with a guy because I need veteran presence. This guy can be either really good or really bad. I’m going with some different perspectives because he’s a lefty, threetime Masters winner, short game enthusiast. It’s a risk here, but I want a veteran president, a guy who knows how to win, who’s been there. Man, give me Phil Mkelson, bro. You’re taking the lefty. I’m taking the lefty, bro. Man, that’s a that’s a that is a big swing. Big one, man. That’s like a That might be a controversial pick that they’re booing me, you know, on the blogs right now. This that that pick has like the same pick same vibes as Josh McDaniels taking in the first round. Yeah, but I got feel in the six. Yeah, I know. But, you know, but yeah, you know, he’s going to sell tickets. He’s going to be he’s going to be polarizing. There we go. Like I said, you just never know. I can either get like a Phil Milkinson last year at the Masters who finishes T2 or one who misses a cut. It just depends on which Phil I get. Yeah. Short-term enthusiast though. You’re right. Yeah. And he’s kind of got a little Bryson in him where he’s like, I gotta figure out little things to get some advantages. Yeah. Yeah. To get get some advantages. So, I think he’s a good pick. Let’s see. So, my sixth pick. Oh, I’ll pick Victor Hoblin. That’s a good pick. One of my one of my favorite golfers. This is me just picking him because I like him. Yeah. I mean, when you get in sixth round, it’s all about, they always say it’s either about attributes like size, speed, or, you know, I just like a guy, which is fine. Yeah. Yeah. And he’s he’s gonna be a winner. Like, he’s going to go on a tear one day. I know it. I like it. All right. in the seventh round right now. Looking at my big board, you know, I think this guy’s definitely a still in the seventh round. Uh, another live guy does pretty good when he goes to majors. I’m going go with Tyrone Hatton. It’s a good pick. All right, seventh pick for me. And Mr. irrelevant. Mr. Irrelevant. I’m going to get I think I I’m going to do Mavic McNeely. That’s That’s That’s a good pick. That is a good pick. He hasn’t been taken yet. I will say I had Maverick McNeely on my undrafted board. I will say that. Oh, that’s a good thing I picked him. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So, now we we get two undrafted guys. I mean, in reality, we could still treat this like a nine round pick because if he signs with me, he’s not going to sign with you, obviously. So, uh, we’ll keep that same image. So, let’s just say this is undrafted, but our eighth pick here. Uh, another likable guy on the tour. Another bigsized guy. Ball strikings. Amazing. Very, very short back swing. 63. I’m going 20 feet now, man. I think he’s a I think he’s a good team player. Yo, I don’t think you’re gonna like this sign. Okay, I’m signing this guy, but I’m going to sign Ash. Oh, okay. That’s that’s actually that’s actually a really good pick, dude. Third at third at Sawrass. Been playing really well, you know, solid golf all year. It’s a risk-taking fee now because he hasn’t been having the most incredible year, but I just like him in team environments. He’s I feel like he’s a really good team player. All right. He’s He’s a player. He’s a good player. He is. He is. Uh All right. So, the last undrafted person I’m going to sign, I was in debate like, man, do I go with veteran presence? Do I stay youthful? You know what? This kind of hurts because obviously I would love to go Max. I would love to, but the Cobra switch hasn’t been doing well. Hasn’t been having the season and even last year having the best season. If we’re going based off the last three years, it’s like Max Holm hasn’t really showed in the last three years. But a person who’s been kind of a a silent guy, finishing top 10, not really a big talk guy. Very very slow back swing, pauses at the top. Sun JM. Okay. He’s a good player. He’s a good player, man. Yeah. He was leading uh at one point uh at the RBC. Yeah. At one point. I thought you Yeah. Yep. Yeah. Yeah, I felt bad. I remember s him sitting there. I felt kind of bad for him. Um, let’s see. My last man, I was actually going to sign Max. I mean, he’s out there technically. He is. But dude, after seeing my boy Chan Kim up there, I think I’m just going to go with Chan Kim. Wow. Now, I will honestly say I’m not familiar with this game. Chan Kim, dude. So, hang on. Let me find this tweet, okay? But he led the he led the tour last year or he was like a top five in or maybe top 10 in like strokes gained or something like that. Um, it was in four different categories and uh I had to find out my phone. Okay. Or I mean I believe you. It’s just like that’s kind of like the one I’m looking at the big board like who’s this guy? But I mean if he has the stats to prove it then I just did a bad job scouting. No, he he does have stats to prove it. Uh he missed the cut at the surich, but yeah, he played in the uh the he played in the tournament that was going on the same time at the RBC, you know. Oh, the uh the one in uh put the kind of the coral. Yeah. Yeah. And he was he was second, I think. Okay. Going into the last day, but uh ended up finishing um ended up finishing like 12th or something like that. didn’t do well. Solid. Yeah. But yeah, but he was he was like second, you know, so that’s good. Hey, I want to talk about some guys we left off the board. Cuz guys, if you watch this, man, tell us first off, tell us who has the better team between me and my dog Nate. But also, here’s some guys we left that, you know, went undrafted. But kind of like, man, I can’t you guys can’t believe you guys looked over them. So on an overall big board man like Patrick Kentlay don’t want to talk and he might be just a contrary guy like do I really want to play with Patrick Kentlay? But then we look at the Ryder Cup the no hat situation but he still came out there involved like Patrick Kentlay is a guy but he’s not a likable one though. So it’s like do I want the locker room presence with Kentlay? Yeah. So, there was some character concerns, some red flags I had with Kent Lady. Like, I don’t know. I want to draft him, but you know, maybe I can get him sometime in like week eight or something like that if I got some injuries. Uh, we left off Willie Z. You know, he’s a baller. He’s a baller, man. We left him off. We left off uh Russell Henley. Russell Henley. Matt Fitzpatrick’s not having that good of a season. Obviously, me and you were both in a debate like D, we really want to sign Max Homer because he is a name. No one said Minu Lee. Uh Sah. I was thinking about taking Sah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh Tom Kim. I was I was I was That’s who I was debating between Tom Kim and Sunjm. Uh but I went with Sunj. Patrick Reed was out there still. Uh Shane Lowry. Geez. Uh, Ricky Fowler, Jason Day, Matt Wolf, Jake Knap, you got Tommy Fleet. Oh man. Yeah, he’s a good player. He is a good player. Tommy Fleet while we left out there. Uh, Charles Schwarzel, which I mean, not really, but you know, he’s a Masters winner. Uh, now the question I have for you, man, which PGA Champions Tour player would you hire to be your coach for this team? Oh, dude, what a great question. Yeah, I know. I have I have mine between two and they’re both great guys. If someone could coach I’m let you I’ll let you go first in this one since I had the first overall pick. D I gota think like Mike Weir or maybe uh oh I take like Fred Couples. Fred Couples good pick. That’s cool. I would say Fred Coupples and then is Tom Watson still playing in the champion store or is he like done because he’s like a legend now. It’s a good question. I’m not sure. Uh, I I it like Fred Couples or like Ernie L’s like just guys that are you know I got I got it. It’d be Couples and Jim Fury. Okay. I would I would go with Bernard Langford and I’m going with Steuart Sink, bro. I love Stewart. I love Stewart. I know he was upset because he thought he was going to be the RDER Cup captain this year. He’s been an assistant. He was an assistant last year. They pee Keegan, but I’m going to give Steuart Sync the opportunity to coach this team because they didn’t give my dog the opportunity to coach the Ryder Cup team. So, I’m going with Steuart Sync. So, uh, to recap guys, my team who is coached by, uh, Bernard Langford, Steuart Sink, I drafted Scotty, Bryson Nambo, Luic Oberg, Colin Morawa, Hideki Masyama, Phil Mickelson, and Tyrell Haden. And my undrafted free agents were Tony Feno, and Sunj M. Nate, first overall pick was Roy M. Well, your coaches would be Jim Furick and who else? and uh Fred Coules and Fred Coules and his first overall pick was Roy Maroy and he went Xander Shaflet in the second round JT in the third John Rom in the fourth W Neman which was he he stole it off my board in the fifth round sixth round got uh Victor Hoblin seventh round went Maverick McNeely and then his free agents were Akay Batia and Chan Kim I said that correctly right Kim be my boy yeah here we go so uh I’mma I’mma I’m gonna turn this into a real. I’m gonna postpose and we gonna have to figure out who have the better squad. Chan, you better Yo, Chan, you better start balling now. Let’s go. Well, I think people might and again I could be totally wrong. People might be like, “Man, I got to look up Chan Kim to see like what type of player he is.” cuz I think everyone else there there might be some familiarity with but like yeah Chan Kim kind of went over my head but like he might be have a dark horse trait that no one knows about that like man this guy can help win a game. Dude, I’m telling you there was uh I I’ll have to like find it and maybe like said it to you later. Yeah. But there was there was this guy who like went over like golf stats and it’s all like strokes strokes gain stats and stuff like that and Shane was like leading the tour four not leading but like he was in the Yeah. in like four different categories but then like one category he was really low and that he was this guy was explaining why Chan Kim was like kind of an anomaly. Um I don’t know I don’t know if Chen knows this. Hopefully this helps him. I I’d love I would love to see I mean just you you’ll just root for your boys, you know? Like I would love to see my boys just start killing it, you know? Yeah. So, let’s go, Chan. Don’t make me regret picking you or signing, man. Yeah, that’ll be I mean, yeah, I’m about to look him up as soon as we get done with this, man. But, uh hey guys, again, we appreciate you guys watching this episode of Golf and Gossip with my dog Nate. Uh again, let us know in the comments who you think has the better uh drafted team. And uh we will see you guys next time at uh whatever the most prestigious golf tournament’s going to be next. So yeah, we’ll see you guys then. Peace. Peace.
