You know, I’ve been off I’ve been off the scene for such a long time, but but I’m coming back. I’m coming back. Um, first of all, today is a good cause, right? So, I come out for a good thing cuz when they told me about it, I said I don’t know if I can make it cuz I got appointment today, but my appointment’s in the evening. So, I said, “No, I’ll definitely be here, man.” But, you know, it’s always it’s a good cause. It’s not just for Michael, it’s for everyone involved in um the neurosurgeon side of things and and for me, I work in that field now where I work in um well-being. So, it’s like I’m I’m happy to to support this and hopefully people can can can know and be aware and that’s the key. Absolutely. I want to get Wayne in and all cuz Wayne I feel like Wayne should be here as well. Jump in Wayne. Come on. What’s happening? This is quite This is quite a trio here we’ve got here at the moment. I got to take me out of then. We were just talking about obviously we’re here to support Michael Watson for Iuro and the the Brain and Spinal Foundation. Um it’s great to see so many people come here and will be here today to support Michael Watson. Yeah, listen mate. Um I remember Michael back in the 90s, you know. Um I followed his career. I looked up to him highly. He had a great great fight with um Eubank. Two great fights with Eubank and it was very sad to see what happened to him. Um I’m so glad that he’s he’s recovered and you know he’s he’s um back on men, you know. Um you know he’s a real a real character, a real fighter, a legend. Absolutely. and and it’s it’s great when people do turn up speaking jud about this earlier and show Michael Watson that there are people obviously that still care you know forite for definite I mean the thing is the boxing the boxing fraternity we’re family and everyone’s you know sometimes you don’t see people for a long time when you see them it’s like you’ve been with them you never left you understand so um and with Michael Michael and me close because the funny thing is we both won our time we born we born like come a couple days apart 1965 turned 60 couple weeks ago man so I’m big man now right Michael the next the next day. So we won our titles the same time the com title the same year. So we we’ve had the same similar journey until Michael got that that unfortunate um incident in the fight with Eubank. But like I said we we we tried to move on and not dwell on the past and try to move to the future cuz he’s he’s come a long way and and continue to grow and um and I love that you know support. Right. Listen, just before I let you go, I’m going to ask you all one the same question here. Do you still miss the game? Do you still miss it? I do. I miss the camaraderie of the game and I miss I I do actually miss being in the gym, the camaraderie, but I don’t miss fighting. I don’t miss actually fighting. You know, it was something that maybe I was I was good at. Some people going to say I was good at it. Some people going to say I was rubbish. But hey, you know what? Um I went and tried to do and um achieve the goals I set for myself. So that to me was was was it for me as far as the fight angle was concerned. Wayne, you’ve been retired nearly 20 years now. Do you miss it? Yeah, it is. My last fighter was 2006. So yeah, 19 years. I missed the game. I missed the fighting. I I miss the training, you know. I must admit, you know, um I love my hand, but I don’t I don’t I didn’t like training. I hated training. I should have done better, I believe. Um but you know um I’m glad I’m glad um you know I’m healthy and um you know um I’m now I’m now a referee. So um I’m still involved in the game but yeah I do miss it. The same question to yourself there. Well for me I I would say this I think that I miss like like Julia said miss the camaraderie of the of the fight game but the the fighting the competing fighting you have to have that desire and I don’t have that I lost that desire a long time ago but I enjoyed the whole fraternity the whole surrounding the whole setting. So yes, boxing. I think I always love the fight game. I don’t love, to the truth, I don’t love some parts of the fight game. Obviously, when you see fights with with with bad decisions or robberies and things, it makes you feel sick. But you understand that’s part of the game. You know, we love the game of boxing. Sorry. The biggest fight still in British boxing is that fight with Joshua and Tyson Fury. Tyson Fury’s currently retired. Do you think we see that fight in the next 12 months? No. No. I I you know um honestly I’m going to say this. It’s been too long in the making, too long in the talking about it. They should have done that fight. They was talking about it like six, seven years ago now. It’s got boring. It has he is actually got boring, right? I have to agree. Um I think the fight has gone past it sell by date. And I do believe that um Fury will stay retired. I believe he I believe he will stay retired. I think I think um hey um Joshua’s got another couple years year or two left. I think he’ll fight again. But um that particular fight I think it’s so it’s comp by date again. First of all, I take my help to both guys cuz Fury done great for boxing. Josh done great for boxing. So take my help to both of them. But I don’t think and and it’s a sad state of boxing to know that two guys who had ended career ended their career are still being considered as the best fight the biggest fight in Britain. I don’t know if that’s the truth for me. It’s not a fight that I don’t know if I’m interested in seeing it at the moment. You understand? That’s the reality because I would like Julia said six, seven years ago. Yes. But now it’s it’s going to be um guys who are the shadow shadow of theelves and um I think that for boxing we got looking for new stars now and giving them the the platform. Yeah, for definite.
