Some days you have to work for it. This is a rocky start for me. That was incredible. Locking it are hard to come by today. This is really tough, but it’s golf. It’s been a day. Brand new. Come on, dude. Yeah, you too, man. I’m ready. Especially the numbers out there. I played here like 8 months ago. Pretty getable. Yeah, it is. I remember being good. The first the first green is shaped like Texas. Yeah, like it’s like Texas and then there’s like a bunker back in the back with Oklahoma. So then I for you. My bad. My bad. My bad. Sorry. More speed. anymore. first tea. Brad, it’s good to have you, dude. I appreciate it. Thanks for having me on. Yeah, this is gonna be so glad we were able to get this to work out. I know. This is going to be awesome, guys. This has been something we’re trying to work on for a while. We’re finally We’re finally locked in. This is a two-part match. The first part’s on my channel and the second part is on Brad’s channel. So, make sure you go subscribe to his channel. It’ll be uploaded tomorrow for the back nine to see who wins this 18hole stroke play match. So, dude, this is going to be awesome. We’re going to do We’re going to run it stroke play 18 holes. We’re out here at the Byron Nelson Club. The Cottonwood. The Cottonwood. Yep. Yeah, Cottonwood course. So, let’s flip the tea to see who goes first. You guys know exactly who Brad is. I don’t need to. But, we’re going to have some fun conversations, talk to him about where he’s going, how he landed in social media really, which is really cool. So, this is going to be fun, but let’s see who goes first. I get honors on my channel. Um, driver off the first here. Try to aim up the left a little bit and try to hit a little fade. This is This has been a club that cooperates on and off. So, hopefully today it’s on. Cut a little bit. Oh, that smoked a tree. I think it’s fine over there. Yeah, I think it’s okay. That just It hit a tree and came straight down. So, it’s going to be a long way from home now. But, I hammered it. All right, I’m going to go with a little uh little cut little cut down there downwind. Try to get down to the bottom of the hill and hopefully have a little short wet shot in really cut for me. We literally hit it. Well, Brad’s going to be fine there. Oh, that hit a tree, too. Did it? Yeah, it caught that. I saw a leaf come down, but I I think it’s fine. I think we’re fine over there. I know Brad hits it a long ways, too. He’s probably one of the longer hitters in all of YouTube golf really, especially like real golfers. I feel like you are too. So, I think we’re just going to be Yeah, I know. It’s going to be cool to see battle out there today. We’re going to get right into it. Hopefully hopefully those are okay. I know. I I hate I hate like having not hitting the fairway on the first hole. Like, let’s just start the round right and then But anyway, let’s get on with it. 18 hole stroke play, me versus Brad. It’s been a long time coming. Subscribe to the channel if you haven’t. Let’s get right into it. All right. Um I got 212 yards to the pin. it. I mean, it’s kind of set up for it looks like I can move it a little to the right, but I’m kind of looking at the left side of the green. Maybe even just left of the green wouldn’t be bad, but I got four iron. I’m gonna try to just hit just kind of a It’s a low cut in there. Hit it, wind. Hit it, wind. I hit that way too hard. Yeah. Okay, it’s in that back bunker. That came out really nice. Well, we saw some leaves fall down on my drive, but I guess it just caught leaves, no branches or anything. So, I’m down here close to the water. I got 115 on a little down slope. I think it’s a pretty perfect sandwich. Maybe take a little bit little bit off of it, but hopefully hit it close and get the get the round started off hot. Oh, go. All right. Oh, we’re done. Actually, it released back there. It’s almost All right, worked out. It kind of came out knuckly. And did that land short of the green? It did land on the front fringe, I think. Yeah. Crazy. Came out with no spin. And luckily, it ran out pretty good. So, got a good look. I’m in the back of the bunker, so I have an interesting golf shot here. I’m going to try to land it a little short and just let it release on there. Not the most ideal position, but it’s 18 hole stroke play, so you got to stay got to stay patient. Oh my gosh. All right. Yeah, good shot. Thanks. All right. It’s actually pretty good all things considered. Bunker looks like it has pounds of sand. It had so much in it. All right, that’s a five for me, which after that second sand shot, I’m okay with. All right, we got a pretty good look here for the bird. I think it’s just barely off the edge on the left, moving just a little bit right. This be a nice way to start the round. So, let’s put a good stroke on it. Hopefully, it goes in the middle. Oh, that snapped a lot. Damn, that lie. Damn. I turned quite a bit. Good part. Nice. All right. Four, five start there. I’m actually really impressed that I I haven’t seen bent grass greens in like a long time. I could have sworn they’re Bermuda on this side. Yeah, they’re good. I know. I love bankrass, but usually don’t really see them in really hot states, but guess they just dump a ton of water out here. Anyway, on hole number two, par three. Good par there by Brad. Thank you. One over to even par. All right, par three. Hole number two. 160 yards to the pin downhill into the wind. What are you hitting? I got seven. I think I’m just going to hit a very chippy cut. Pin’s on the right, so I’m feeling kind of like starting it middle of the green. do a little knock down three quarter and just hopefully cuts back to the somewhat to the pin. So, pretty tough part three today into this wind. That was incredible. Sit. Sit. I go in. Where’d it go? Yeah. I I think I put a little little much on it. I think it’s one of those where I almost hit it through the wind a little bit, too. Yeah. It looked like it didn’t get touched by it. Can’t be mad. I mean, I hit it exactly how I wanted to, so can’t be too mad about it. All right, I’m I’m gonna play like a one 170 shot. So, I got eight iron. Kind of a pull, but I’m gonna go kind of right side of that bunker. It’s kind of my target. I hit it really good. Yeah, like 25 feet. It’s all the way to the back edge. That’s crazy, man. that I thought for sure that wind was going to hit that a little bit. I hit a really great shot, but the wind is going to be a factor today. I think we got about 12 mph of wind, so Oh my jeez. What? Yeah, seven is the wrong club, I think. That is insane. Give yourself a swing. This is YouTube. Like, just make it so you can have a swing. I think swing a swing. Yeah, that was I think that was a brain fart on me. I should have hit eight iron. Didn’t hit the seven iron chippy enough, but even then, I think if I hit it exactly how I wanted to, I think it still would have been bunker easily. So, got a tough shot now. Luckily, the lie itself isn’t terrible. Just kind to maneuver my this tree a little bit. Try to open it up. Hopefully, land it right in between the bunker and the green and just give myself somewhat of a look at at par. Ah, it’s not easy. Not easy. It’s doable if I caught that a little cleaner, but I got it down for bogey now. No bueno. All right, pretty simple bunker shot all things considered. Let’s get something down and get the bogey to run out of here. Sit. Sit. That was fast. That was a freaking fast shot. But straight uphiller for the bogey. Try to knock that down. That’s like a That’s really unfortunate, but it was just a It’s just a missed club off the tea there for Brad. I got like 25 ft. It’s going to be breaking a lot and it’s going to be pretty quick, so I got to respect it. Breaking to the left. Breaking to the right at first. Breaking to the left the whole way. Settle. Settle. I hit that so soft. All right, this pin’s kind of in a tough spot. All right, lock in. Got to make part here. All right, got a bogey putt about 15 ft up the hill. It’s going to be slow as balls. Just hit it hard and hopefully hopefully it goes in. Stay at one over. Yeah, good putt. Thanks. It’s a great save. Thank you. We’ll take that bogey from that spot. I would say that’s a really good bogey. I’m going to I’m going to go. This is a pretty straight putt. Maybe a little right center. If I can knock this in for par. I That just didn’t break at all. What the heck? All right, it’s a bogey bogey start for me. One over to two over. Got to get locked in. That is That sucks. All right, par five. Brad still has honors. His was respectable. Mine His bogey was respectable. Mine was a little bit questionable, but I think that pin was questionable to be honest. I think it’s right over that last bunker. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, there’s three bunkers up there you’re about to see. Um, I’m basically trying to just go over that last one. So, good drive. Should set up a reachable par five. So, hopefully hit a good one up there. Go, go. I think it had enough. I think so. Yeah, good shot. A little into the wind, which kind of worries me, but I think I hit it good enough. It should be over. All right, driver for me. I think I’m going to take that same line. I think it can go a little bit right of it and be fine, but just need a square one up here. [Music] A should be fine. Fine, though. Think. Don’t get in that tree line. Ah, you see it? Yeah. I think it’s right on the edge. Yeah. A little spinny, but got to get got to get settled in here. All right. Brad hit a great drive. I’m a little right. I only got two like 28 to the pin, so I’m going to hit hybrid. Just kind of hit just something that kind of goes straight here. And I think I can get this there. But this will get over those trees. So if it it’s a little left or right, it’ll be okay. Or not. Wow, this is starting off great for me. Maybe I can I don’t know what I’m going to do from there. All right, 188 to the pin. Trying to figure out the wind’s off the right. I’m trying to figure out if it’s helping a little bit or if it’s a little into that feels dead help. I’m on seven iron again. It’s kind of feeling like it’s down, but off the tea, it was 100% in two and it should be that way here, too. So, 7 iron, a little more middle of the green. Just give myself a look at Eagle hopefully and try to break that birdie seal. Looks really good. Don’t be downwind. Just don’t be downwind. Yeah, good shot. Thanks. All right, got a pretty decent eagle. Look, let’s go knock that down. Eight iron, 176 something on the green. Just got to stay patient. A little bit right of it. I think the wind will pull it back left. All right. Uh, it’s in that front bunker. All right. Um, I I’m just This is a rocky start for me, but just got to stay patient. It’s not. It’s actually a pretty standard bunker shot. So, up and in. Make par. On to the next. Sit. Sit. Sit. Yeah. Good shot. Not too bad. All right. Well, it’s not quite as close as it looked from the fairway. I thought it was going to be like maybe 15 ft, but we got about 30 35 ft. Pretty good look for Eagle. Just focus on speed. We miss it. Leave it close to the hole for tap and birdie. And I hammered it maybe. No, actually pretty decent speed. Just a bad line. Need to play that about a foot higher. All right. Well, this would be to a photo avoid a bogey bogey bogey start. I think it’s like Brad’s went Brad’s Why does this look like it’s tilting this way, John? His went this way, but like I think it went that way before it got to mine. This hole I think it’s left edge. Yeah, I get save. Thanks. All right, let’s try to clean this up for bird. Good one. All right, Brad’s back to even with a nice birdie there. Took advantage of it and I am still two over. Good birdie. Nice. small green since it’s such a short hole. That’s kind of the the defense. Um got to lock in here. I’m going to make some birdies. I’ll be a couple I’ll be a couple under after nine holes. 400 yards right on the dot maybe. But Brad has honors after a good birdie. I think something up the left side with a little fade is pretty good. I think. Are we trying to like finish it? See like orange thing? Yeah. I think you got to you got to finish it like it can’t finish right of the trees otherwise it’ll be in the road. Yeah. Downwind. So I feel I can kind of swing hard and hit it high and hopefully fly a long ways. They’re trying to go over the middle of those trees. Oh, no. No, no. What is that? Watch that. You got eyes on it, John? You know, it might be left of the taller stuff. I think it is. Oh my gosh. I’m going to try to go kind right at the corner. I think a little bit. There’s like one tree in but swing on here. Ah, get down. Yeah, terrible cart golf, but all right. Hopefully we can find Brad’s. I really do think it might have got left of the tall stuff, but if not, I guess we’ll go ball hunting. All right. Well, found the ball. That’s that was goal number one. Now we got to get back on on the green. Hopefully. I mean, it’s a decent lie enough. I think I can hack it out and do something with it. But got about 70 yards. Just going hit lob wedge and hack it out. Hope it comes out good and give myself some type of a look. Just run. Yeah, just didn’t come out very well, but should just be short of the green and get that up and down. All right, 98 yards. Pretty good. Pretty good position to be in. I’m going to hit just a It’s a real easy 54. Just kind of run something back there. Pins way back. Get a little left. I actually like this. I think it’s good. Pretty good. Yeah, I think so. If I had a little spin on it, I think it’ll be really good. All right. Well, a little short of the green. I was sneaky hoping it might hop up. There’s some mud on the ball, so it must land pretty soft here. But pretty easy pitch shot all things considered. Lots of green to work with. Kind of straight up the hill. So, let’s just get up and down for par hopefully and get out of the hole. That would be that’d be still in one, I think, after that drive. Whoa, that was not very good at all. I was not seeing that left turn the entire way and I hit it way too hard. Pretty poor shot there. All right, Brad’s still out here. He’s got about 15 ft for par, maybe. This has been kind of an interesting start. This has been sloppy. I think a sloppy start to say the least. 15 ft. Breaking right the whole way. Let’s knock this down. Kind of steal a pore on this hole. So good. Thanks. Incredible putt. Thank you. That um did not feel like a par whatsoever that hole, but I’ll take it. All right. Just outside left here. I think I got about 9 ft. Would be nice to knock this in. No, it’s not going to break. Dang it. All right. That one bites two over. Brad’s even on hole number five. 440 par4 hole number five. Brad has honors. It is 300 yards to the water to carry that water. Dude, that’s so Do you have like the app or like that’s the app? Yeah. And you can do like measure and all that. So like for my location, that’s just a lot of work. It’s Yeah. Seeing your app now. Yeah. I think I probably should go 18 birdies. That’d probably be smart of me. Oh man. It’s just How much do I want to try to chew off? If I can I’m going to swing hard regardless because if I can carry it 300 then it takes all the trouble out of play. So I’m just going to swing hard and just left that water and hopefully hit a little better than last drive or hit a spinny golly. So I mean that’s I think it’s fine cuz when you go when you go there it gets more right shorter. Yeah. I think it’s probably be all right. Well, we didn’t see it, but it was headed towards those guys over there, and I think it’s going to be fine. All right, I’m going to don’t want to hit it over there. I’m going to go kind of I think it’s kind of back into the wind, so I’m not going to I’m not going to bite off too much. I’m going to play a little fade right off of that where that card path goes up. Oh, no. That’s going to be close. What is it? Oh my gosh. I guess I hit it farther than I thought I did on that line. Brad, he hit that slope and he actually I think is I’m pretty sure that’s his ball. He’s totally fine. Um I have 104 yards here. Stay patient. Start making some birdies here. 104. I’m going to I’m going to kind of play it about 104. Just a little left of it. I think the wind’s moving this way a little bit. Oh gosh, that’s the worst wage shot I’ve hit in ages. All right. And I’ve kind of shortsided myself now. This is going great. All right. Well, um, cover the water. That’s I mean, that’s why I swung hard that way. It just took all the water out of play hopefully and it landed up there. Just pass the water and in a good spot now. So 82 yards front pin. It’s a good looking wet shot. Hopefully hit I want and give myself a nice look. Chunky and high. I mean, yeah, not too bad. Thanks. That’s terrible contact, but kind of worked out. All right. And what a what a freaking start here. I’m going to try to kind of bounce this through the rough and get it on the green. Get myself a buff for pour. That’s it. Dang. Okay. All right. Well, that wedge shot was, you know, wasn’t great and it actually was a little further from the hole up here than I thought it was going to be. So, I got like 35 ft. It’s kind of a sloppy wedge, but breaking hard left the whole way. Try to get good good speed, good line, and hopefully might sneak in there. Nice putt. Thank you. I’ll give you that unless you want to putt it. No, it’s fine. All right. Got another sixfooter for par here. Hey, 6 and 1/2 ft. I think it’s breaking a little bit to the left. Yeah, I can save. Thanks. All right. This isn’t This is This is really something. But it’s golf. Some days you have to work for it. I’m two over. Brad’s even. And I believe is this hole six already? I’m discombobulated. I’m usually not this far into a round without making some birdies. So, I don’t know what’s happening. I’m just kidding. Um I think we’re going to hole six. Four left. All right. Hole number six. We think you might be able to get it close to green. I think you that that that bunker on the right is just short of the green and it’s like 330, but it’s straight down wind. Downhill down wind from fairways. Yeah, it’s only 390 to the pin, but it’s playing. I think if you carry this ball 340, you’re going to be close to the front edge. Remember, this is a two-part match. Oh, fairways are too soft. Come on. That was a nice shot, though. Put less water on these fairways. All right, that was a That was a really nice shot. I’m going to try to follow that. I toe jammed it. I do not know what’s over there. Wait, I saw it come down. All right. I mean, if it lands where I thought it was going to land, I think it’s fine. For some reason, I thought I saw something bounce back to the right, but it’s it’s definitely not good. I hit it on the toe. All right. I’m literally so close to this route. I’m trying to figure out if I can if I need to just punch this or if I can stop. I think it stops right there. Yeah. So, I think I’m safe. I just don’t want to blow up my wrist. But, I do got to get this ball up really quick. It’s only 60 yards to the pin. Just up and over. Probably carry it like 55. I’ve gotten so unlucky. I I wasn’t even thinking about that tree. Gosh, I am working for this. All right. Well, middle of the fairway here. Probably about 50 yards away, but it’s downwind and I have like zero green to work with. So, not the best spot. Um, I have to hit a little high shot. Hopefully has a little spin and give myself some type of look up there. Oh. Ah, it’s not bad there. Take that. I was hoping it would kick straight instead of right, but pretty good. All right. Brad has a really good look at birdie there. Um, short in the bunker. Pretty standard. Need to get this up and down. Maybe up and in. That would be fantastic. Got a little more sand in this bunker, so it should be a little easier. Yeah, very nice. Thanks. Feel like you’ve already had to hit like eight bunker shots. I know. I This is Yeah, I’m I’m grinding right now. Nice rake job, though. All right, Brad, with an opportunity to get to red numbers after it feels like we’ve just almost missed every green. Well, me. You You haven’t You’ve missed a couple, but not every one of them. Still. Yeah, it’s been it’s been a grind. If I make this, it’d be 100 through six. Be pretty good. Doesn’t feel that way at all, but we’re grinding it out. Got like 12 ft breaking left down. Come on. That has to move more than that. Thought that was going to snap a little bit far. Even through six. Hitting a putt, but didn’t want to go in. I tell you one thing that is different here is on every other course that I’ve ever played in Texas, you have to deal with so much grain. in here that you don’t have to really worry about that. Even I feel like even the bent grass courses in Texas still have a little bit of grain really in them. Yeah, some of them this these out here really don’t have any at all. Yeah, I can save. Thanks. This is This is This is crazy. But I love it. That’s That’s a good That’s a good par considering where I was over there. Par for Brad, par for me. There’s only been one birdie today, which I was expecting there to be more, but there’s still a lot of golf left to play. I’m two over. Brad’s even. Three holes left on my channel and then we’ll be tuning into Brad’s. It’s only 329 to the front edge, but it’s I think it’s actually showing this. Yeah, it is downwind. That last one was downwind. So, Brad, this one’s actually Yeah, it’s off. We don’t quite have like the downhill help that we had last hole, but if it’ll help a draw if you can smash a draw. There’s some trouble on the right, but I think does that trouble on the right? It looks like it kind of stops and goes that way. So, you actually have if you miss the green all the way to the right, you actually have 30 yards. You have just Yeah, actually. Yeah, you have 30 yards. So, you have 30 yards right of the green that you can go. I think Mike is officially selling me on 18 birdies. If you fire it right over this f first bunker, I think that’s like money. Yeah, I think I’m going to go high draw. Try to get ride the wind a little bit and somehow get on the green. If not, bunker shot would be just fine, too. So, have you won anything since college? Mm-m. Dang. You got to get back out there, Brad. I know. I know. Yeah. Last tournament I won was is like UTSA’s tournament in San Antonio. You go down and play in some minor leagues down in Florida, dude. Those I know they’re only one dayers, but those guys are shooting 62. So, it’s like as far as competition, it’s really good. I thought about it like at some point maybe like after the wedding, maybe getting trying to figure out like, you know, part of the schedule where I can go play like two or three, but also do some filming like in between and all that. If you go down there, they have they usually have about two a week and they actually have some three days, too. So, if you time it right, you can do like a three-day. Yeah, they’re they’re awesome. All right. Well, they’re off the green, so it’s a little high draw. All right, send one up there. Come on. Oh, out of sink today. No, I actually think that’s fine. Yeah, that the fact that it was still moving a little left should be Yeah, I think it’s okay. I just swing’s just so far. Not feeling too hot right now, but we’ll figure it out. Short hole. Hit a good drive. Set myself up. I’m gonna aim just right over this first bunker. I’m not trying to hit a draw right now. That was about as bad as I can hit a golf ball. Get over that bunker. That should No. Did it pop out? Yeah. Right on the top of it. And dude, I am limping right now. Just some some days I wake up and my body’s not moving right. But I’m still grinding. And I mean, the fact I’m over two over par is crazy. Feels like I’m like seven. I I get it. I’m not. And this is like maybe like a hot take. Like I get it. Everyone’s like when you hear people talk about tour players, they’re like they are so freaking good. I agree. They’re so good. But they’re just so good at managing how their bad shots. They’re They’re good at knowing their game. Yeah. They know they know what their misses are and and if they are missing it, they’re not going to be hidden in some crazy spot. Yeah. All right. 78 yards. It actually worked out really nice. That could be a problem. Look over there. If he hit it far enough, he could be past it, but that’d be crazy. 78. It’s This would be a great time to hit a good shot. Yeah, I like it. I like it. I think it’s about six feet. You got it, huh? Yeah, I got it. That’s insane. Brad has found he’s found he he’s he’s hit some crazy drives and he’s found every single one of them. Just need him to lose one. I was literally looking back there and I look up and like damn it’s actually all the way up here. I don’t know if I got a little cart path help or cuz I really I mean I hit that towy. I didn’t hit it great but it worked out. We got a little shortsided shot downwind. So it’s not the easiest and the lies not fantastic but we can work with it. Open up the face. Plop it up there and hopefully just give myself a little gimme birdie this time. Yeah, good shot. Thank you. If you said you wanted to give me that to give me it in for the fun and breeze are hard to come by today so far, so I got to enjoy them a little bit. Good one. Thanks. 100 through seven. Let’s go. All right, John. I think this is straight, but I don’t know. Yeah, I’m going to hit it straight. 19 ft. goes to the right. All right. Um, wow. Good birdie by Brad there. Through seven holes. He’s one under. And I’m still at two over. We probably have one more par. I don’t know what the par is out here, but might have a par five in these last two. Dude, you’ve hit some drives where you got really lucky. I have. I have. I am not hitting the driver. Well, I shouldn’t I I should have lost a ball by now. Hey, but that’s good though. That’s what just what we were talking about. It’s like you you’re hitting a bad you were you were like what 20 yards right of the green. Yeah. Pin high. That was crazy. All right. Hold. Uh 395 is a little bit shorter. Um Brad sending driver again with the way I’m hitting it. I’m not going to hit driver right now, but I shouldn’t be. I think I mean it’s like three. If I can carry it 315, then it takes a lot of the trouble out of play. And it’s dead downwind and it’s downhill. So if I really just hit it solid and high, it should carry that no problem. So it just takes a lot of trouble out of play. So yeah, it’s trying to go just left that tallest tree. You might be able to see down there and good. She just have a little pitch shot in. Good shot. Thank you. All right. I guess when you had to hit a good one, you showed up. Yeah, it’s true. Finally. About time. All right. I’m going to go two iron. I’m going to try to hit this like 250 and it should release a little bit. But I’m going right just right at Yeah. Right up this little grass line here. Holy crap, that was bad. So, yeah, I think I’m going to hit sixiron. I was thinking 195, too. So, I It’s either like a seven iron that I really turned down or it’s just a very chippy sixiron. I’m kind of feeling the seven. I don’t know, dude. You do got some big biceps. I mean, I have been grinding, I will say, for the last like four or five months, I’ve been grinding, but I do have very nice genetics. Yeah, my well, one of my sisters did one of those uh like 23 and me DNA testing things. And I guess it comes back with like a bunch of different stuff, but she said that the uh donkey like genetic the muscle building or like the muscle whatever is Olympic level. Oh my gosh. So, you should be playing football or something. I should be. Yeah. Yeah. That’s what my dad did. That’s what my brothers did. I’m just a golfer. So, didn’t didn’t use the uh the genetics to my advantage quite as much as I probably could have, but hopefully I can just go right through that wind.
