Jordan Spieth has PGA Tour fans dreaming as he eyes a historic achievement: completing the career Grand Slam. With victories at the Masters and U.S. Open in 2015, and The Open in 2017, only the PGA Championship eludes him.

A win at this month’s event at Quail Hollow would make him just the seventh golfer to claim all four majors — a feat recently accomplished by Rory McIlroy at the 2025 Masters, and previously by Tiger Woods in 2000.

Spieth acknowledges the significance, calling it “an elephant in the room” and his top career goal. Despite several close calls, including a tie for third in 2019, he remains optimistic. With the PGA Championship set for May 15–18, fans are hopeful this could be the moment Spieth joins golf’s most exclusive club.

Adding to the excitement, Spieth shot a 9-under 62 on Sunday at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, tying his career-low round on the PGA Tour. This performance marks his lowest 18-hole score since August 2021 and suggests he’s peaking at the right time.

However, Quail Hollow presents a formidable challenge. The course, stretching over 7,500 yards, favors long hitters, and its notorious “Green Mile” — the final three holes — is among the toughest finishing stretches in golf. Spieth’s track record at Quail Hollow has been less than stellar; in four appearances, he has yet to finish in the top 25.

Nevertheless, Spieth’s recent form offers hope. After recovering from wrist surgery in late 2024, he has shown signs of resurgence, including a remarkable 10-under 61 in the third round of the Phoenix Open earlier this year. His putting, a hallmark of his game, remains a strength, and his experience in major championships cannot be underestimated.

The significance of completing the career grand slam is not lost on Spieth. Only six golfers have achieved this milestone: Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy. Joining this elite group would cement Spieth’s legacy as one of the game’s greats.

As the PGA Championship approaches, the golf world watches with anticipation. For Spieth, it’s an opportunity to etch his name alongside legends. For fans, it’s a chance to witness history in the making. Whether he can overcome the challenges of Quail Hollow remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Jordan Spieth’s pursuit of the career Grand Slam adds an extra layer of excitement to this year’s tournament.
