What’s going on everyone? Welcome back to Here we Golf. My name is Dan. I am flying solo today. Jason earned himself a well- earned rest. decided to go over to Greece for a week um on holiday with the family. So, good luck to him and good luck to me because I’m a little bit nervous doing this all by myself, but buckle up. Um we’ve got a decent week of golf to recap and the DP World Tour is back this week, so plenty to look forward to as well. Um live at 8:00 p.m. British Summertime on YouTube and on Tik Tok. This is our weekly golf podcast and yeah, so we’ve just come off the back of the CJ Byron Nelson on the PJ tour. Um, have a little look back at that. Um, PJ tour then goes to a signature event next week at the truest championship. Uh, we’ve got the Turkish Airlines open on the DP World Tour and we’ll also have a little look at live career as well and what happened there this week on the live Live Gold tour. Um, before we get into that though, if I may, I’ll just want to plug our affiliation with Scott Shot Scope. So, here we go. Our Shot Scope ambassadors. Um, Shot Scope have got the an incredible technology in terms of GPS devices and rangefinders and um you’ll see them all over the place being advertised by um by professionals and famous people as well. And we’re very fortunate that they’ve given us the opportunity to be ambassadors. Also, uh you’ll see on screen there, um for example, you got the ProZrangefinder. We’ve also got the uh V5 watch as well. Um with Shot Scope and Here we go working together, we’ve got a 15% discount off. Um, so if you visit their website, use the link in the description or just go to shotscope.com and use the promo code here we go, you’ll get 15% off everything across the site, including sale items. It’s 15% now on top of what uh is already discounted there. So yeah, really worth uh having a little look at there if you’re into your golf and you want to get your stats. So the the the devices themselves, they don’t just measure sort of front, back, and middle and green. You can decide which hazards you want to consider. So whether you’ve got x amount of yards to carry a bunker, um things like that brings it all in. If you’re using the rangefinder, they’re adjusted for wind and and slope as well. It’s really accurate, really effective way of helping you and manage and improve your game. Um so let’s get into it then. We will go over to the PJ tour and we’ve just had this CJ Byron Nelson. Just an absolutely incredible week if you’re Scotty Sheffller and if you’re the rest of the field when you’ve you’ve just got to just give him a clap and round of applause really. There’s not much more you can do. Um when we previewed this event last week, myself and Jay, we said it was basically a penalty kick for him. He really should be winning in this sort of field. Um he was streets clear on all the stats. Streets clear in world ranking rankings and ability. He not shown his best self yet this year. He had hadn’t won. He was coming off the back of the injury over Christmas. Um so but he was always there or thereabouts ticking over just without really threatening. Um and this was if he was going to win um he had to this this week really and he did it absolutely emphatically. We got off to a blistering start with a 61 and a 63 in the first two rounds which were hit by uh really bad weather as well. Uh long delay on Friday due to thunderstorms. Um and it looked for all the world like it might even get cut down to a a three three rounder to be honest that the amount the amount of delay they had there but they managed to cram it in. Credit to the PGA tour. Talk a lot about slow play and stuff but they’ve managed to squeeze four rounds in about in less than three and a half days really. So yeah, Scotty’s um 6163 and then open in two rounds. He had a six shot lead going into the weekend. So that’s biggest 36 all margin um since Brooks kept had it in 2019. And he’s gone on to shoot a record equaling 31 under which joint lowest PJ tour in history for um 72 all tournaments. um 31 under par and he’s won comfortably ahead of Van Roy in second and then we had uh little further back three shots further back Sam Stevens and then Jordan Smith further shot back and forth and then there was a host of players tied at 17 under and a tie for fifth um but yeah it’s it’s all about Scotty this week really just absolutely incredible um and it sets myself up well we got a PJ um championship major next week and he’s decided to skip the truest. So basically that was his that was his tuneup for the uh for the for the second major of the season and what a what a tuneup it was. Um so yeah I think he’s earned the weekend week week off this week. Um it’s a signature event going into the tourist which I’ll come on to in a bit but yeah Scotty’s having a break. Eric Van Royan’s second place ending a spot in the truest this coming week with his um his position via the AON next five and um was obviously delight of the exemption but brutally honest about Scotty not being not being for catching at all. Sam Stevens gets into the truest this week as well with his solo third and then as I say the um large group of players there tied for fifth including Sam Ben Kittyama. So yeah that’s pretty much pretty much the the Byron Nelson this week. So, we move on to the um truest which has come in in place of the uh the Wells Fargo who signed a seven-year deal truest with the PJ tour and it’s at um Philadelphia Cricket Clubs pronounced this right. Vissa Hickin Vissa Hickin course in Philadelphia signature event as I say replacing the quail hollow one which is ironic because quail hollow’s on on the schedule next week. So it’s about 71 7,200 7,400 yards long so depending on where you’re measuring it from. So it’s not the not the longest on tour but it’s it’s long enough. It’s classic uh treelined parkland course designed by AW Dillingast restored by Keith Foster. Um, so we’ve got narrow fairways and small greens. Um, and plenty of elevation changes as well. So, it’s a ball good ball strikers course going to be accurate off the tea and you’re going to want to be getting dialed into them greens as well. Um, got the tight tight driving into these narrow fairways. Um, and the rough’s pretty penal from what I’ve read as well. Greens are pretty contoured. So, it looks like a genuine really good all round test of golf. Um so you want someone who’s good off the tea posision precision um in their approach and then if they’re missing them small greens getting up and down as well. So scrambling. Um so that’s what you’d be looking for if you want someone who’s going to come out on top. And I I think it’s pretty pretty safe shout really. But um your Mast’s champion who’s back in his first individual event since finally getting over that hurdle, Rory Maroy is the is the one this week. Let me just pull up the the entry list and we’ll we’ll just scan through that quickly. So Rory’s there heading it up. So as if you look there for the the official golf rankings, uh column, there’s only Scotty missing really of the of the eligible players. Um so yeah, it’s going stands to be a quality event this one. Mroy Schoff Lake Marawa, Justin Thomas, Ludig Goldberg, and we go down. Matiama, Russell Henley, all in good form. Victor Hovlin seems to have found a bit again of late. Um could be interesting to see whether he kicks on. He’s been battling it over the last 12 months or so. Recent change of Caddy um could be a um a momentum changer for him. Maverick McNeely has got himself into the top 10 in the world in recent weeks and um and yeah it goes on. Yeah, top quality field there and but for me it’s just hard to see past the likes of Rory really. Um be looking for someone an out outside pick. Justin Rose is a player who likes to get himself nowadays. I was watching full swing. I think it was last season’s uh full swing and he he said basically he wants to get himself tuned up in time for the majors. He’s done everything that there is to do in golf. Um apart from sort of make his name now in terms of getting majors one. So it’s a with the PJ championship around the corner. Good showing at the Masters. He’s um he could be one when everyone’s going to be looking at these top top players in the field. He could be one that goes under the radar a little bit. Um his all round game’s pretty pretty good at the minute. alongside the um trourist. This week we’ve got a um another event, the Metal Beach Classic uh is running alongside. It’s also a PGA tour event. Uh that’s at the Junes Junes Golf and Beach Club in Middle Beach. Um a place I’ve played not I’ve not played this course, but I played in Mr Beach myself. It’s like the mecca of golf in the world. It’s absolutely lovely lovely place. Um the house of blues as well. If you’re ever in Mr. Beach, get your D cell down to the House of Blues. What a great night out. Um, quality place. Um, but yeah, absolute golf in Mecca. The M Beach Classic secondary PGA Tour event opposite the trouis this week. So, it’s obviously got a weaker field. Um, and it’s had a host of withdrawals today as well. There’s about about 10 pulled out. Um, 7,300 yard 71. Robert Shren Jones senior design coastal course. uh exposed to coastal winds and plenty of water and bunkers. It’s got wide fairways so you can be aggressive off the tea. Um she want focus on long long hitters and strokes gained off the tea really. And um Chris got her up last year’s winner average length and birdie making ability. Uh large greens pin placements can be tricky. So you want to appro prioritize strokes gained approach and there’s four par fives as well. So looking at strong contenders who who score well on par fives as well. Um Bermuda greens. So you want to be looking at someone who can put well on Bermuda greens and um for course because this doesn’t show up too often this course. So if you want to look for sort of similar ones um correlate with other design similar designs, you’ve got the Palmetto Championship um venue of the Coralas um and players like Gary Higgo and Van Royan um show decent form there. I think Van Roy’s got himself truest now though, hasn’t he? Um so yeah, play like maybe Ben Griffin who’s consistent playing playing at the moment this in this uh moment in time on the PJ tour. Sami Valley Maki keeps popping his head up as well of late. A couple of considerations there. Um, just keep an eye on the weather forecast, especially the Middle Beach with u it being sort of coastal. Um, wind winds can can have a big effect really depending on what side of draw you’re on. And yeah, that I think that’s the PGA tour previewed really for this weekend in a a sort of rough nutshell. I say I’m on me own so not a lot to um to bounce off really. Anyone wants to throw any questions in I’ll see if I can uh do me best to to cover them off for you. But we will um we’ll move on then to uh cover off live golf career. We’ll recap that. Um so South Korea first first Korean event. Um, Jack Nicholas Golf Club and Bryson Shambo. We say stole the show, but it was quite it was if if you if you watched it, you’d have been glued to the telly. Like it was good final round. Him and his teammate Charles How the third having a bit of a ding-dong battle in last that sort of back n on Sunday. Really good event. Um, so for for people who like are loyal to PJ tour and Bash live honestly that it puts puts up some good good drama and great great showing. Um, the Shambo shooting a 30 on the back nine was was clutch really and there was there’s a big pull. I forget because the shotgun start I forget which it was on. only had three or four rolls to go and he sunk a long birdie putt which kind of swung the momentum back in his favor from how and um this this one have been coming as well. He blew up last week and um when he probably should have won, handed handed the tournament. So, forgive me, I can’t remember who won that last week of live. Um and yeah, he he got the the individual event and with it, I say Charles H third coming in second. Um and then backed up by Casey and Liheri who didn’t have great weeks, but they did enough on Sunday to help the team. It was comfortable for the crushes as well in the team event. huge crowds there as well. Big big following there in Korea. Um and there was a number of players in the field who won in Korea in the past as well. They’ve got a month off now in Liv. Um 11 of the live field live contingent will be going over to qual next week for the PJ championship including Bryson who is shown that despite whatever your preconceived ideas are of live that he can uh he can still he can still do it. He’s shown in the majors showed up at um the Masters. He won the US Open last year and his game was right on point with a couple of really close run um efforts and then getting getting a win this week. So, he’ll have a week off this week to get himself get himself ready for the PGA next week. So, we’ll see him again and I don’t doubt that he’ll put a good um showing off the PJ Championship, but we’ll go into that in detail when when Jay’s back next week. Um generally think that’s That’s it for live. DP World Tour. So, we’ll move on to the the DP then. Let’s have a little look. DP World Tour. Um the European Swings. We’ve had a week off this week. Uh EUR and the first event of the Europe European Swing is coming up this week with the Turkish Airlines Open. It’s a lengthy one this week. We had a really short Asian swing across uh April with only four events salmon in the Masters to either side of the Masters whereas this one goes on for a couple of months. And you’ve got the Turkish Airlines open this coming weekend which I’ll talk about in a bit more depth in a minute. Uh the uh Reg Regnum Carrier in Antalya as I say next week got the PJ Championship. So no um DP World Tour event as such. Um, we’ve got the major there which will have some of our our DP World Tour players involved. Then back over this side of the ponds, we’ve got the Sudal Open from Belgium in Answer. End of May, we’ve got the Austrian Alpine Open in Saltsburg. KM Open in the Netherlands at the International. Always a decent little event that I do like the KM Open. Third major of the year US Open in June at Oakmont. Can Bryson defend? And then two more. The Italian Open at Argentio. Argentio Golf Club in Monte Argentio. I’m going to stop saying Argentio because I have no idea how to pronounce it. Might be making a bit of a fool of myself. And then the final event of the European swing is the BMW International Open in Munich in July in two months time. So yeah, decent um decent bit of golf to get into our teeth into over the next couple of months. both on this side of the pond and there in the majors. So, I’m just going to pull up the field and we’ll have a little have a little preview. So, European swing. Um, we’ve got, as I say, we’ve got the events there we’ve just covered and we’ve had uh we’ve just had the Asian Open which was won by H Nakajima. No, Nakajima came second. Jakara, your mind’s gone blank. We’re going to skip that. Yeah, Turkish Airlines open over in Antalya uh this coming weekend. The Regenham Carrier Par 72, 7,200 yards. So, it’s not a long course by any stretch. Um and it’s got wide fairways as well, so we should see some pretty low scoring. Uh plenty of bunkers and fast greens, so we try and protect the course a bit, but yeah, I’m sure we’ll uh we’ll see some some a few people go low. Um treeine fairways, water hazards, and the greens are undulating. Um, but yeah, strokes gained off the tea. I think we should have decent weather, minimum rain Turkey this time of year. If you want to go on all the way over to Turkey, go now before it gets too hot. Um, but yeah, the weather’s usually pretty solid over there. Uh, so yeah, wide fairways favoring the long hitters. The strokes gained off the tea. If you’re looking at picking winners, um, strokes games are approaching, greens in red really. Um, so and then obviously with the the green’s pretty being pretty quick, you probably want someone who’s uh who’s gaining stroke put on limited recent course history. So want to sort of if you’re if you’re looking into it in that much depth um pick out some players who’ve got similar form similar similar courses on tour such as the Balder or the Max Royal or at the Emirates Golf Club as well and then obviously recent form as always which is probably the main thing for myself um to consider. So players like like Zamakajima who stood out in the last few weeks on the on the Asian swing. um got how he’s going to be up there as one of the favorites. I think he had a he struggled last week. I think he finished 51st in the end. Um he looked for all the world like he was going to be threatening and then dropped off massively on the final day. But prior to that, his former has been pretty consistent with a tie for fourth and a tie for ninth before that. Um let’s have a look. other other sort of strong strong considerations are going to be the likes of Jordan Smith who has had a different season really not really threatened or done too much but um I did bounce back with a second last time out and we’ve not seen Jack Cruz Vike for a while but he has had a decent season when he has been seen with a uh a win followed by a 37th just pull them up so he won in Kenya 37th in South Africa and then last time out we’ve seen him who’s had a good few weeks off here. Joeberg openly finished second as well. Um so a win in the second in his last three starts worth considering. Adrien Sadier um 188th in the world but again solid form apart from miscut four starts ago. He’s got a type seven type of 19 type of third and fifth last time out. Um, and then Sam Bersto who he was he started the season pretty consistently, dropped off a little bit a couple of weeks ago, but then he’s bounced back again with a tiger 22nd and a tie for six in recent in his last couple of outings as well. Uh, Yanik Paul, a German guy, finished third last week. Someone who has been quite consistent, but we got another consistent start but seems to have peted off a bit and I don’t know if it’s just getting a bit much for him. John Perry. um tiger 25th miscaugh 36 29th last last few starts. So yeah um can based on this let’s um pull up our DP team. So there’s here’s me. So I’ve gone with Adrian Sadier and at the minute he’s my captain say just have recent forms just um it’s strong fifth last time out at the uh hero on a really low scoring week. Um it was a grind that week. So fair play to him. Porsche Singapore Classic. He’s he’s finished third. Joeberg open he’s finished 19th. Miss Cut in South Africa um you can forgive him a bad week and then seventh in the in the in the Kenya Open. So, um, yeah, Sadi a strong consideration for me this week. I don’t know if it’s locked, but it’s not going to veer too much from this really. So, we got him Ugo Kuso. Um, Kuso is just consistent as he’s not really threatened a win, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was wasn’t around the corner because he’s just been consistent as all season. We go back to um a few starts ago at the Katam Masters. He’s finished 35th, 11th in South Africa, 25th at Joberg, 20th at Singapore Singapore Classic, 17th at the Hero. So, uh, a couple of weeks off since then. Um, so yeah, another Frenchman there, two Frenchmen to to start off. Um, also conscious at this stage of the season, as I’ve just alluded to, with the schedule, there’s a lot of events coming up um, where these guys are going to be your bread and butter. So I’ve conscious that I’ve already used the likes of Sam Berto three times in me fantasy DP team. I’ve already used Hon Lee three times. John Perry and Dan Brown I’ve used twice. Matthew Jordan I’ve used twice. Start blitzing through them now with all these events coming up where these guys are going to be um showing up well. I uh I want to hold hold some of them back. Um, I did pick Marco Pen last week as well, last time out and he’s he’s there this week. But me and Jay always say I don’t really like picking someone who has gone off the back of a win because of the pressures and the media that come with it. They generally seem to peak and then dip and then before it sort of plateaus out again. So, I’m expecting I mean I’d like to see Michael Pens do well because he’s he’s um he’s just a great ball striker to such a long way and he’s he’s just joy to watch. Love seeing people hit the ball dead far basically and he’s one of them. Um and there’s tribulations and only just making the uh DP World Tour gas DP World Tour card this year um to then have this betting ban to then come back bounce back and have some good solid form to start to see and get a win. Um yeah, he’s he’s on an upward trajectory, but for me uh he has had a week off obviously with no event last week, so that might have dissipated any of that negativity that comes following a win. Yeah, I want to just see that he can do it consistently before considering him. And as I say, if he can do it consistently, he’s one to have in your back pocket rather than burning through him now. So, not going with Pens this week. Me next pick is Lucas Deich of Austria. I’ve only seen him three times thus far this season. Um, let me just pull them up. So, started the season off at the um Australian PGA. finished eighth and then at the Hander Australia finished 15th. Not seen him then until Kenya where he’s finished 20th and then we’ve not seen him again since. Um but it’s generally gained strokes. He’s a good solid solid player. Um it’s not the strongest field so there’s no reason why he can’t step up now he’s back on the DP World Tour. Not used him yet this season. first time picking him. So, it’s good one to throw in. Uh, and another one here, Jay’s mate in of the similar vein really. Um, so he just god knows where he picked up picked up today as Tet last time. Just to clarify, last time Jay said to Tatak has got a career earnings of about 50 million. I think he added about three notes onto that when he was reading it. Um, he hasn’t won that amount of money, but he did show up with a 16th last time out. So, we’ve seen him three times on the TP World Tour this season as well. 42nd first time out at the Han uh Han Classic. He finished 16th, no sorry, 16th last time out the Hanan. Before that, he finished 13th in Kenya and then 42nd in Maitius was his first showing. Um, yeah, I can’t see me picking him too much this season. So while whilst he’s uh he’s playing relatively well, obviously had a good showing last time, I’m happy to to throw him in and and and use him in this relatively sort of weak field. Um as I mentioned before, Jack Cruz, not picked him yet this season, um which will have hurt because he’s playing really well and as I say, so he started off relatively slow. He had a mis cut at Maitius. Uh 21st at the Dubai Desert Classic, which has no being featured. It’s a good solid field that one. Uh Bahrain 38th in the miscut in Katar. So he’s had a couple of weeks of a blip there and then as I say the last three starts he’s won in Kenya South African Open 37th and um second in the Joberg. So he goes in he is probably a vice captain. He’s close to becoming a me captain and that’s something I got to weigh up over the next couple of days between him and Savier. Um, but if you have watched our podcasts over the recent months since we since we’ve started in that south swing where there’s a chunk of South African events, I did say these South African players just seem to show up at the start of the cow of the year when these South African events are on and then they just vanish off the face of the air. They don’t see them for the rest of the season like in terms of form. So I’m conscious that whilst it is good form is um in Joberg, South Africa, it’s in Kenya, it’s it’s Africanbased. So to be honest, if I’m going against me theory, I’m going to take a bit of a chance on throwing him in there. And then Adrien is my final pick. Now not a fan of Agi cuz he is slow. We um when we’ve been to the the BMW at Wentworth and him at the uh Alfred Donner last year as well. Wasn’t just a one-off he went with a couple of times we’ve seen him. He was he’s just slow. He just takes his time. Um yeah, he’s he’s consistent without threatening this season, but he’s certainly got the ability and in this field he’s probably up there in terms of what one of the better players. Just a question of whether he can put it all together. I know we can show it. Uh 24th in the bank, uh 28th of the Alfredo. dropped off a little bit with a 58th to Dubai and a 67th, a 49th and a mis cut. But then in Joelberg 25th, um Vault China 26th, Hanan Classic 11th. So really stuttering start to the season, but looks like he might be on an upward trend and wonder if we can just catch him while he’s on the way up there. So that makes up my six. Um Jay whilst he’s in Greece suning it. He has kindly put a team together and sent that over. So let me just um see if I can make that bigger so I can actually see it. But he’s got out on ling out on Lee in there. It’s his third pick thus far. As I say out le form up until it’s basically one bad round in the last event. Um is playing really well. And then Jordan Smith, he’s picked again. Jordan is the he’s the most owned on Fantasy DP this week. As it stands, he’s the highest owned, but only with 52% uh ownership, whereas some weeks there is quite a number of standout players. And we’ve seen ownership in the high in the 80s, especially at the Masters a few weeks ago with Rory and Scotty. Um but yeah, 52% owned, highest owned, and then Cruz Vik is next at 35% owned. And that looks like who Jay has gone with with his captain. I guess he’s looking at similar stats and similar similar form to himself. Um so yeah, I can understand why he’s captained him there. Um Freddy Shot, what’s his fourth pick of Freddy Shot? To to be honest, I bet he’s probably glad to be shot off Freddy when he’s finished picking him and can’t pick him again because um he’s not done anything for me when he’s he’s played this season. He’s he’s certainly got ability um but he’s just dead inconsistent for me. Not a consideration. Um, I’d probably consider picking him when we get back to the likes of Germany and at the BMW International. Um, where he’s in his homeland and probably a bit more comfortable. Um, who’s he got next there? Matthew Southgate. Second pick. Southgate B me again this season as well. Let me just see if I can find him on the uh list here. Southgate’s form was super consistent. Let me just go back. So we go back to the start of the season in Australia. The P Australian PJs finished 15th, finished 20th at the Hander. He’s finished 11th at the Alfred Dunnel, 22nd in Maitius. So without threatening, he’s done well. He comes up to Bahrain, a weaker field, probably one of the weakest we’ve had so far this season. I pick him, captain him, miscal Kenya again, weak field. I thought I’ll put that to one side. pick him again, miss cut. Uh, and then he’s had a 40 second with the Joberg and then a mis cut at the Han. So, he’s had a good start to the season, but he’s dropped off massively, so I wouldn’t be picking him. Not for me, but good luck to Jay. And then he’s gone with Sadier as well for reasons I’ve discussed already, I imagine. Um, pretty pretty safe, solid pick. Um, let me just see. I’m going to see if I can pull up the leaderboard. Just give me a sec. I’m going to here.co.uk. It’s our website. We um just basically got some customized leaderboards um for the fantasy DP World Tour game to collect all our podcasts there. There we go. Right. So, let’s pull that up then. So, this is a condensed version, but if you go over there, we’ve got um Fancy DP World Tour leaderboard main podcast episodes. Fancy DP World Tour show golf and live action. We do intend to start filming a bit of golf and getting um getting some more some more golf content filmed. Um and that will go in that section as well as well as being over on our YouTube channel. If we go to Fantasy DP World Tour leaderboard, hopefully you can see this if it isn’t too slow. Hello. Hello. Hello. Oh, it’s not having it. Come on. doesn’t like it. Does not like it. Right. Um, no, we’ll have to leave that one, fortunately. Um, yeah, I think that’s the DP World Tour covered off in a nutshell. So, we’ve got Turkish Airlines open this week. I’ll I’ll pull it up on this screen and I’ll just run through the leaderboard where we’re at at the minute. Here we go. Pod on YouTube mini league top five. Here we go. Jay Jay is there at fifth place, Premier Crew, John Wood in fourth, myself in third, pass captain’s picks, Jerry Kelly in second, and Darren Sharp who is Mr. Penn is out in front. And um we’ll be breaking that down into the European swing leaderboards as we’ve done all season thus far. So, if you haven’t played along up to now, you can still join in and we will be giving you any anyone who’s doing well in the international swing uh shout out over the the coming weeks and months given it is a two-month long um swing. And I think that is pretty much a wrap for this week’s Air Golf podcast. So I’ve covered off the CJ Cup Baron Nelson on the PJ tour and we previewed briefly the truest championship signature event with no cut this week. Limited fields. Hopefully we should have no slow play complaints. Um, we’ve had live golf career with Bryson Dashambo putting his credentials to the four ahead of next week’s PJ Championship. Touched on those benefiting from the AO on next five swing with the likes of Van Royan and Stevens getting their truest place off the back of that scheme. TP World Tour is back. We’re off to Turkey for the Turkish Airlines Open this week, which is excellent for us because it’s back in our time zone. we can actually start watching some live golf uh instead of just reading stats and watching brief highlights.
