Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was spotted with President Donald Trump a day before his team was scheduled to visit the White House for their Super Bowl celebration.
Barkley was photographed spending time with the president and other at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster.
Afterward, Barkley traveled back to D.C. with Trump on on Marine One, the president’s personal helicopter.
Monday morning, Barkley defended his time spent with Trump via a post on X.
“Lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT,” he wrote. “Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump ! Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day.”
Barkley added a crying laughing emoji at the end of his post.
The Eagles are scheduled to visit the White House on Monday to celebrate their 40-22 Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Barkley rushed for 57 yards in that win. In his first regular season with Philadelphia, he rushed for 2,005 yards for 13 touchdowns on 345 carries. He finished third in MVP voting behind Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
