In a thrilling showdown at Bengaluru’s prestige golf share club, Chandigar as Ong Chima delivered a masterclass in golf, crushing the final round with an impressive 6 under 66 that crowned him champion at the two Indian rupees croapil dev grant Thornton Invitational 2025. With a stellar total of 20 under 196 across 54 holes, Chima’s final round brilliance not only secured his fourth professional title, but also marked his third victory on the PGTI main tour, finishing two strokes ahead of the competition. This victory was a gamecher for the 35-year-old golfer, catapulting him from 28th to 10th place in the PGTI order of merit and earning him a hefty prize of 30 Indian rupees L. His performance shook up the leaderboard and proved that Chima was in top form when it mattered most. Carlin Jooshi from Bengaluru lit up the final day with a smooth 66 landing him in second place at 18 under 198 while Faridabad Abinav Lohan followed closely behind finishing third at 15 under 201 after a final 70. Meanwhile, Uridge Sandu, who tied for fourth with 12 under 204, surged into the top spot of the PGTI order of merit thanks to his consistent campaign, now boasting total earnings of over 54.6 L rupees. In an exciting highlight, Man Raj tied the course record with a scorching 63 earlier in the week, a feat previously set by Gareth Pratab Singh and Saptac Tawwa, earning him a share of sixth place at 11 under 205. Among the ladies, Pronovier stood out with a final score of eight under 208, finishing 18th overall and showcasing her talent on the greens. Chima’s final round was nothing short of spectacular. Having started from the 10th hole, he faced early adversity with a bogey on the 11th, but quickly recovered. His back nine was a flurry of birdies, including a breathtaking 30ft putt. And he continued his charge on the front nine by converting four more birdies from distances ranging from 10 to 20 ft, including a perfect approach shot for a tap in on the fourth hole. Despite challenging wind conditions and tricky pin placements, Chima stayed calm, confident, and focused attributes that shined through during his dominant play. Reflecting on his round, he shared, “Playing alongside amateurs while vying for the main prize is always a challenge, but I managed well and was lucky to be in a great group.” Carin Johi, who was in third overnight and just two shots behind Chima, rallied in the final round with a solid 66, featuring seven birdies and just one bogey. His late burst of birdies on the 15th and 17th holes, sinking a 12-footer and landing his T-shot within 3 ft, respectively, kept his hopes alive.
