ladies and gentlemen are we about to find out that the wooden tea is obsolete is this the [Music] future we’re on location at cool clubs in and out of multiple testing facilities we’re playing witness to the testing of the totem tea a first ofit kind golf tea made completely out of recycled paper looking to be a game changer on a tea box near you it’s something you’re going to have to consider I’ve never seen one that straight before we’re out here at cool clubs putting our tea to the test they’re doing human testing and robot testing cool clubs enlisted four professional golfers the Kalinowski Brothers Bobby Kalinowski and the human robot Tom Kalinowski LPGA Pro Brianna doe and professional Nick pasz who can reach swing speeds of 130 mph wa and yes we won’t forget about the robot stay tuned for that bad boy a little later but for now each Pros is hitting multiple shot shot off a wooden tea multiple shots off the totem tea we at cool clubs man you only do it right at cool clubs exactly you guys picked the hell of a place to do your testing the biggest thing you’re going to notice about the totem is that it has a tool which comes with a bag of totems all you do is Slide the tea on like that pop it in the ground pull it out put the ball on that’s [Music] it felt good really straight really soft and solid no complaints here it felt really good I felt like my spin rates definitely came down a little bit I want one in my next tournament so there go there it is there are only three things that are factor– wise for golf it was the ball the club and the tea and the tea has been ignored for so many years that it sort of tweaked my imagination when I first started this out it’s been exactly a 100 years since the invention of the wood tea where the first company had ever come out with the tea made entirely out of recycled paper golfers we’re always thinking about a different putter new drivers come out every year why not try a completely new golf tea with the totem you definitely don’t feel any friction on it so this feels like nothing obviously the ball coming off and it just melts the USGA writes conformance letters and the conformance letters basically say it can be played by anybody worldwide we just recently got that letter uh which we’re really excited about so there is there’s no bar to playing the totem anywhere in the world when a lot of people are doing testing what you’re looking for is no that people are is it better it’s possible it is better but it’s definitely there’s no worse and that’s huge when you’re doing something cuz you know that it could only be equal or better yeah you’re not seeing diminishing returns the totem te is hollow your ball sits on a thin paper cylinder so when the ball expands at impact it’s not expanding into the top of the tea so what it doesn’t do is it doesn’t absorb any impact energy from the ball when you play the totem it’s like playing with no tee it’s pretty interesting cuz the totem feels like it’s not a tea kind of like with the wood tea you can kind of feel like a little bit of something at the bottom um that one kind of just felt like kind of went smoothly through pretty interesting dead center that works yeah really what we’re looking for is see if it actually lower spin rate at all the club head hitting the te obviously has some effect on how the ball comes up off so the paper to doesn’t do anything so we’re trying to see if there’s any difference there sure you know we’re using brand new balls using Chrome tours out here which is what’s on the Range really nice range good balls good good grass so again getting all those variables you know taken care of and just see what happens there you go so my normal swing speed is somewhere 125 130 give or take on the day can ramp it up a little more but usually that’s where I’m playing on the course there’s one thing I noticed today that was consistent among every goal is that they all commented on the feel of the totem every single one of them when I hit it I I feel the tea a bit that’s one reason I got rid of plastic teas it’s cuz I didn’t like how it was coming off in the face it just really loud and tingy and then same thing with weden te is just going to break my speed where these weren’t really breaking most of them stayed I could use one te for all five balls I wasn’t doing that with the other one that’s for sure we hypothesize that the totem doesn’t magnify launch errors as as much as the wood tea like he said that was a good Miss yeah obviously we’re going to run a robot tomorrow all day yeah that’s as good as you get consistency wise but got some good testers why did I pick cool clubs because Mark has the greatest facility that I know of for testing equipment period from the human data to the robot data we’re at the cool clubs are in D Studio here with the robot the ADC first robot of its kind we just found out testing against wood testing against the totom well it’s a new robot we just got it basically has a bunch of Motors not just one so we can actually control pretty much everything during the swing so it’s got a motor for the arms it’s got a motor for the wrist so you can change the wrist angle change the rotation you can actually turn the hips on it so you can do inside out over the top it’s a really accurate way to get data we tested yesterday with you know bunch of tour players basically but the robot’s way more consistent than any door player by a long shot we actually use real grass on a robot in little trays which youve never done that before for the first time ever in robot testing they’ve made trays of real Turf wooden teas going right into real grass totem te’s going right into real grass first time ever so Alex I got to jump in really quick what’s this like ah man I mean yeah totally exciting also nerve-wracking you know what you guys having fun the joy level is very high no tea has been tested this way no tea at all ever you know to be honest most golfers swing outside in and down at it quite a bit so the average golfer that’s basically pounding that scene into the ground uh you might see you know some differences there yes the robot did it again over the last 2 days to showed the breaking Park crew that it can deliver legendary distance and unparalleled accuracy the pros felt it in their swing and we saw with our own eyes that no matter
