How REAL are the Golf Courses for Golf+ VR? I used a Stracka Greens book to find out!
Hey y’all. What is up? If you saw my last video, I took Golf Plus on the Quest 3. I took the Dead Eye VR golf attachment here, and I wanted to see if I could make Golf Plus in VR feel more like real golf. I’ve got my Straka book here, green reading book. I wanted to see if the games in Golf Plus, if the courses they have, match up to how the real life golf courses play. I just got back from Pinehurst number two. Played Pinehurst number two with my good friend. He’s got a Straka book up there. He sent me some pictures of the greens as they look in the book. I’m going to compare that to some of the greens in the game to see if they’ve architecturally duplicated these golf courses so that you can actually say, “Yeah, this plays like the real course.” So, let’s hop in. Short video here. Let’s see how it measures up. Number 18. Loading in. All right. Here we are. So, this is 17. Pretty sweet. 16, I think. But they’ve mapped out the environment very well in this game. So, looking at the tea back here, it’s dead on, y’all. Like, that is the clubhouse. The angles are perfect. It’s got, you know, the trees up there that Bryson hit by. Of course, there were tents and everything in the way, but yeah, this looks legit. Let’s zoom up a little bit. I mean, it’s pretty pretty pretty pretty good. So, you can see see up there. All right. And there’s the bunker. You see it way up there. The bunker that’s about 60 yards short. Okay. Let’s just hit a shot out there. So, I mean, they got all these games, all these courses on here, you know. Oh, you’re going to go play the real course. Well, I mean, they look I mean, as far as where bunkers are, the fairways, the look, they’ve got it all. done very well. I mean, this is legit what it looks like, what I remember when I was there. This is about where I hit my T-shot when I played. So, let’s go down there and see how this looks. Here we are. All right. Yeah, there were like tents and booths and everything. So, the porch over here is where the members can sit. There’s like a bunch of rocking chairs up there um where you can watch people hit up on 18. Everything over here is for the plebeians that aren’t members. So, let’s uh let’s try to put one in Bryson’s bunker here. I get it close, go. Oh, almost. All right. The Bryson shot. Here we go. The Bryson B Shambo bunker shot. I think the pin was, wasn’t the pin back left or back right for him? All right. So, if Bryce can do it in real life, surely I can do this in uh VR. Hey, I take that perfect opportunity here to show you my secret weapon. Okay, so here I am looking at the front of the screen holding trigger to see where the slopes are. So, I’ve got or my friend that lives there has a Straka book. If you don’t know what Straka books are, it’s what the USJ has deemed illegal for their events. Basically, it’s the greens mapped out like this where it shows you with laser accuracy where the brakes are, basically how the greens were designed. So, I’ve got it right here. I’m going to put it up on the side. I’m kind of looking down at my phone through through it to see how this compares. So, and if you look like it’s got this little false front here. No. Oh, idiot. Come back. Okay. Sorry about that. We got this little false front here which matches up with how the straa is in the middle here. Right in here. So, this green is falling down to the right on the Straa. That’s what it’s doing. Like the slope is actually pretty accurate on this front half. Back half. It’s kind of coming toward the pin there. Right through here, which is accurate. Right here. Not much movement there. I think it’s all falling this way. Hard to tell, but if you look on the straa here, all of this should be kind of coming in this way and then kind of funneling off. So, pretty close. It is a little bit. Yeah, it’s coming down here and then funneling this way. So, if you’re looking for a game that’s as accurate as you can get to how the greens are built on a golf course, this is pretty good. Like, I I’ve got no complaints with this. Like, it looks real. The brakes are there. The false fronts are there. If you put this in a super fast setting, like green speed, you’re playing the US Open cuz any shot here is going to roll off the green. any shot here is going to roll off the green and that that’s that’s what they’re faced with out here. Okay, so as you can see that was pretty impressive. I went through and looked at some of the other holes at Pinehurst and all of them matched up pretty well with the Straa book. So I’m assuming they’re either using some type of LAR or they’re actually getting straa books for these courses and and remapping them and trying to make them as close as they possibly can. So I’m assuming like Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, if you’re playing that in the game, it’s like you’re actually putting the real greens in real life. So kudos to you, Golf Plus. Let me know if that’s what y’all did. I’m curious as to how you got the game to look so accurate. But keep it up. It’s a lot of fun. All right, y’all. That’s it. See you. [Music]
I have been blown away by the amount of detail in Golf + VR! I have played a few of these courses in real life and I must say the courses look like how I remember! Looks are one thing, but do the VR courses play like the real ones?
I Took a Stracka Greens Book and compared it to the greens at PineHurst No. 2. I was pretty shocked to see what I found!

So I read an article about the beginning of Golf+. The two founders actually met on a course when they were paired up for a round. One of them was testing out a green reading app he had created. They started talking and the rest is history
