If I were to start over as a beginner golfer, here are three drills I would do every single day to become a scratch golfer. First, take a towel and put it underneath your armpits. This helps eliminate that excessive arm movement, which can cause inconsistent contact and poor distance control. The next drill, take a towel and place it on the ground about a club head behind your golf ball. If you hit the towel before the ball, it means that your low point is behind the ball, which is the most common reason for those chunk or fat golf shots. And for the final drill, take a towel and place it on the spot to where you want to land the golf ball for that specific shot. Most amateur golfers focus only on the pin, but the best players in the world think landing spot

  1. I'd start with putting and chipping only for a year or even two. The game is about 90% from about 120 in and 70% in and around the green.

  3. What is it with golfers and pronouncing “amateur” differently from literally the rest of the world?

  4. Tiger doesn't think about landing spot (his own words). But subcon he def knows where to land it to get it to the pin. Great basic drills

  5. Great that all 3 use a towel. One more drill is swinging the towel rolled up and taped like a club

  6. Three tips I would give someone looking to start playing golf. 1. Visa 2. Mastercard 3. American Express

  7. Good drills. If I could chip decently, I would play in the 70s fairly often . If you got up and down every other hole and bogeyed the others, you’d shoot an 81.
