Welcome back. We are here on the WHHhi TV Daily News and now we’re going to take a look at what’s going on on the course today at the Heritage. Yeah, really. Uh this is one of my favorite ones all year. I love coming here. Love Hilton Head. Uh being so close to home, a lot of friends and family out. Played nine holes yesterday. Golf course looks like it’s in really really good shape. Weather looks nice. So I’m expecting a uh a really nice golf tournament. I I am so happy that this is an elevated event and it’s gotten, you know, some of the uh best players in the world to uh to come. It’s it was always well supported, but even more so now. Uh it’s nice that uh South Carolina’s getting bigname players and and everyone seems to really enjoy it, so that that pleases me a lot. Uh yeah, it’s been pretty crazy. Uh to be here is just pretty wild to be honest. Um, but I’m soaking it in. And you know, right after you, you know, make that putt to win, things change quickly. You know, you find yourself thinking about the Masters, thinking about hitting shots at Augusta, which, uh, you kind of, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s hard to let yourself soak in how special it is when you have to prepare for such a demanding course. But, um, so far, I’m pleased with my year. It would have been nice to get off to a better start in Hawaii, um, after getting the flu that week. It was kind of a let down, but um no, very pleased with my year so far and just looking to keep going. Yeah, I’m excited to be to be back here in Hilton Head for the RBC Heritage. It’s uh where I made my my pro debut. Um uh after playing the Masters as an amter uh 10 years ago in 2015. So thrilled to be back. It’s a great place. Love the golf course. Um you know, my family’s here with me. It’s a it’s a great place to to have the family. Um, you know, just love the feel of of the island here and I’m really excited, you know, for the golf tournament. Course is in great shape, so it’ll be a fun week. I think anytime that you work really hard and you achieve something, there’s always a little bit of a relief. But for me, after the open, it just it just helped reinforce like all the things that I know that I like about golf. I love to compete. I love playing on hard golf courses with the best players. And and you know, it’s a it’s a tough it’s a tough deal to to get yourself into those positions to to win big golf tournaments. And that’s what just sort of reinforce that I that’s what I really love to do. Basically, all you get is Monday to soak it in. So yesterday, I took yesterday off. Um really try to decompress as much as I can. Um, even today I’m still still living on a high from last week. So, um, but I’m excited to get here and see the course and uh get some reps in. On our tour links, part of our performance is they measure your average uh stroke time against the field. And so for me, I monitor it and uh I’ve been right at average or a little above average for uh time to play your shot, which it starts right when the other player uh hits their shot is that’s when they start the the timing process. So I’m I’ve certainly improved over the last couple years. Um but it’s one of those things where we’ve got to figure out the pace of play is a very nuanced conversation. It’s there’s a lot of factors to it. These signature events, they’ve gotten the fields more so because of the FedEx Cup points being elevated, more so than the money being elevated. Like, you can’t afford to miss one of these because of the point opportunities and how that translates into your chances into the end of the year tournaments and and ultimately trying to trying to win the FedEx Cup at the end of the year. If the purse year was half of what it is, I, you know, would still be just as amped up and just as excited to be here and and play still, um, still a lot of money. Um, you know, it’d be, you know, if they started shrinking a lot of the the purses, I think my mind would be be concerned with, you know, the finances of the the tour as a whole. But, um, you know, I know things are things are in a good spot. there. You know, the golf’s in a great spot and the tour’s on a good trajectory, but yeah, the purse is not a not a big thing on my my mind or something that I’m worried about. Uh especially being at home, um you know, it’s a good chance for me to really reset, really uh get my energy levels back up and uh and you know, get ready for the rest of the season. the the tour does a I mean overall the tour does an incredible job being so accommodating to our families and you know the this the traveling around as a tour player it’s it’s not for everyone. It can be it can be really tough but you know having those little glimmers here and there having your family out certainly helps bridge the gap um because you do miss you do miss stuff. That’s part of being a tour player. You miss baseball games, you miss dance recital. You miss stuff that you want to be at. But at the end of the day, this is, you know, this is what I do and and uh this is how I provide and it’s it’s it’s my job, but at the same time, I do enjoy it. But I you do have to separate it all. I think it’s really special to have, you know, what feels like an intimate setting of a golf course and then to have, you know, to have worldclass players that are, you know, definitely going to be here. I think that this tournament has been around long enough and Steve Wilmont’s done such a great job over the years. He’s seen it go from being in trouble and having trouble with sponsors to now it’s a signature event. So for me, it’s just it’s it’s great to see an event grow and to reach the status that I felt like it it should have been all along. We’re going to take a quick break, but there’s more to come, so don’t go away.
