Let me know in the comments — what ball are you playing right now? Have I missed one you love (or hate)?

You might not think that a golf ball you choose is that important, but after reviewing and cutting open over 200 golf balls this year, I’m here to tell you it definitely is. In this video, I’m sharing five golf balls you should dump from your bag immediately if you want to actually improve your game this year. But because I’m a nice guy and I genuinely care about helping you play better golf, I’m also giving you five underrated golf balls you should absolutely try this year. And with the help of my cutting tool, Jeff, I’ll be slicing these balls open to show you exactly what’s inside so that you can make the smartest choice for your game. But don’t just sit back and watch. I want to hear from you. Tell me what you think I’ve missed and which balls you’d add to the list for the underrated ball. All right, let’s get into it. So, first up on my list of golf balls to avoid is the Callaway. And it’s the Callaway Super Soft golf ball. Now, I’ve had real problems with the consistency of the center of the core on these golf balls. When I’ve cut them open in previous videos, I’ve seen that they’ve been really unbalanced and the core hasn’t been in the center. There was an example here on this golf ball where you can see that when you look closely that the outer layer on this golf ball is really thick on one side and really thin on the other. Now, if you’re an average golfer, that’s going to cause problems maybe with your putting or the flight of the ball. But I saw this across a number of different golf balls. With the history that I’ve had this year with cutting open Callaway golf balls, I would just seriously avoid them and I think it’s worthwhile just choosing another golf ball. Next on the list is the Nitro golf ball and this is the Nitro ultimate distance golf ball. Now, if you’re an average golfer like me, you’re probably looking for a golf ball that’s going to give you extra distance off the tea. This definitely will give you extra distance off the tea, but that’s probably where it ends. And the risk with playing this ball and why I think you should avoid it is because of what’s inside. Now, I cut this golf ball open with Jeff earlier this year, and I was shocked to see what the center looked like. Look at that. And when you feel it, it feels like concrete. But that wasn’t just the only example. I also found a pink ultimate distance golf ball. And the the middle of that was even worse. This is like something you’d build a house with. So, if you’re looking for a golf ball that gives you extra distance, I would seriously avoid playing the nitro. It might give you extra distance, but with a center cord that looks like concrete, you could end up breaking your clubs. Now, number three on my list is the PXG golf ball. Now, I’ll be honest, they’re not actually bad golf balls, but when I took out on the course, the durability just wasn’t good enough. These are about $35 a dozen, so they’re not cheap. So, if you’re looking to spend that sort of money, there’s better golf balls out there, and I would seriously consider avoiding this golf ball. It does have your reef end cover, and it’s a three-piece ball, but they really did scuff up in the bunkers when I played them. But, let’s get hold of Jeff and see exactly what’s inside the PXG golf ball. Right. So, the center looks pretty cool. I like those colors, but I’m sorry. The durability just was not good enough for me to to say you should put this golf ball in your bag. This is a golf ball you should dump from your bag. At number four on my list is the Kirkland Signature Golf Ball. This is the Performance Plus. Now, it is a value golf ball. At about $36 for 24 balls, it’s a great price. So, if you’re on a budget, then you might be tempted to try this ball. However, my view is it’s overrated. And in my Golf Spy, when they reviewed it, they found they were extremely inconsistent in the diameter and weight of the ball, which is ultimately going to affect the performance of the ball and your game. So, if you’re looking to save money on golf balls, then there’s better options out there. And if you stick around for my underrated five golf balls, there’ll be better golf balls than the Kirkland Signature. However, again, let’s get hold of Jeff and see exactly what’s inside this golf [Music] ball. All right, here we go. So, there we go. That’s what the center looks like. But I’m sorry, I just can’t recommend this golf ball. And you should definitely avoid the Kirkland Signature Golf Ball. And at number five on the list of golf balls to avoid is a titless golf ball. Yes, you heard me right, a titless golf ball. But this is the Titus True Feel golf ball. Now, I get it. You buy these golf balls because you’re a fan of Titus and they make the best balls in golf. But this True Feel is actually a pretty rubbish golf ball. What you’re really buying is an entry- level golf ball from Titus, which is more expensive than a lot of other better golf balls out there. And some of these will actually help your game a lot more. At $20 a dozen, it can be really tempting. But if you stick with me, I’ll show you better golf balls out there which will do more for your game. And I’m going to cut it open so you can see exactly what I mean. Because the middle of this golf ball is nothing special. Let’s get hold of Jeff and I’ll show you what I [Music] mean. There you go. So, look at that. I mean, yes, the outer layer is pretty thin, but the center core, it just looks pretty rubbish. Now, yes, that’s not scientific. But I’m sorry. If you stick with me, I’ll show you five much better golf balls. But I have to tell you to avoid the Titus True Field Golf Ball. Now, first on my list of golf balls you should definitely add to your bag this year is the Vice. And this is the Vice Pro golf ball. Now, firstly, with direct to consumer brands like Vice, you get better value. But secondly, this golf ball, this actual golf ball won an award last year from Golf Monthly, and it won an award for the most consistent golf ball, beating some of the really big names in golf. Now, you can check out my video on it here, but only after you’ve seen the other four balls you should definitely try. This is an amazing choice in golf ball. And let’s get hold of Jeff and see exactly what’s inside the middle of this excellent golf ball. There we go. So, as you can see, what a really cool color inside. So, that’s a three-piece golf ball. It feels amazingly soft, and that outer layer is very thin as well. So, this is a great choice, and I would definitely recommend adding a Vice Pro golf ball to your bag. Now, next on the list of golf balls you should definitely add to your bag this year is a golf ball I really struggled to pronounce, but it’s the Ines. Ines Tour 900. It’s an excellent golf ball that came out last year, but it’s from Decathlon, and it’s a genuine contender to the crown of the best Prov1 killer. It’s not only impressed me, but also a number of other top golf reviewers. And only $38 a dozen, you should 100% try these out this year. It’s got a compression of 90 with 322 dimples. It’s a three-piece urethane covered golf ball. And I took it out on the course and was really, really impressed. But let’s get hold of Jeff and see exactly what’s inside. There we go. So, that’s really, really bright. So, as you can see there, it’s a three-piece golf ball for that white outer layer, the inner mantle, and that very bright yellow center. So, this is the an insour 900, and it’s 100% a golf ball you should add to your bag this year. So, next on my list of golf balls you should definitely add to your bag this year is a Tailor Made. And this is a tailor-made speed soft golf ball. At $25 a dozen, a two-piece golf ball with a sub50 compression is perfect for golfers with a slower swing speed like me. Now, I really love the design on these, but actually it was the feel around the green and of the putter that was perfect for me and why I would definitely add it to my bag. And if we look inside, we’ll see that it’s really cool. This bright yellow center is really soft. And I know it’s not scientific, but it does have a really soft finish to it. So, if you haven’t tried this golf ball, I would 100% recommend the Tailor-Made Speed Soft Golf Ball to add to your bag this year. So, next on my list of golf balls you should definitely add to your bag this year is the Stricken QS Star Tour golf ball. Now, I cut this golf ball open earlier in the year on this channel, and I thought it was amazing. Now, I will be honest, it really confused me, first of all, because it’s a three-piece golf ball, and the outer layer is really, really thin. I almost found it invisible. When you look inside, it looks like a two-piece golf ball. Now, first of all, I thought they were just having a bad batch, but then I did a little bit of extra digging and you can see that the outer layer is actually so thin that you have to peel it away to see how thin that outer layer is. Now, they call that a spin skin outer layer. And what I found is that the control around the greens and approach shots were excellent as a result of this really thin outer layer. And that’s a bit of a hidden gem because most golfers don’t know about it, but whenever I mention it on the channel, it gets so much love in the comments. I found it great for distance off the tea. And as I say, the short game and feel was excellent. But this is an excellent golf ball at only $30 a dozen for a three-piece urethane golf ball. It’s a steal, and I should 100% recommend you add this to your bag this year. Give me a thumbs up if you’re a fan of the Qstar Tour. Now, the final ball on my list and my most favorite and highly recommended golf ball is the Wilson Triad Golf Ball. I took it out to course and I found it had great durability, excellent feel. I’ve even taken it to Trackman and tested it against the Prov1, the brand new Prov1, and it performed really well. I did a recent video on this and it got lots of comments of fans of the Wilson Tri golf ball. If you haven’t tried this golf ball, branch out from the bigger names and give this one a go. But let’s get a hold of Jeff and see exactly what’s on the inside of this golf ball. Wow, that red looks absolutely amazing. And as you can see, it’s a three-piece golf ball. The outer layer on that Wilson Tri is really, really thin. It was comparable to the Prov1 when I compared them. And it’s got the inner mantle and that bright red center core. Now, this is an excellent golf ball. And if you haven’t tried the Wilson Tri, I would 100% add this to your bag this year. So, did you agree or disagree? What do you think of the golf balls to avoid and the golf balls to choose this year? Let me know in the comments below. What have I missed and which ones would you add to the list? and I’ll catch you in the next

  1. What golf ball are YOU playing right now — and does it deserve to be dumped or saved? 🤔🏌️‍♂️

  2. Deffo the speed soft&triad out of the selection of keepers!! In the throw in the bin balls I found the Costco balls hard like a cannon ball, was surprised by the recent hype of this ball 😂

  3. Love the QStar Tour! Please cut open an OnCore Elixir. I'm currently gaming them. I'm a 6 handicap and find them long but also really good stopping power off the short irons and wedges. Be great to see what you think about the inside.

  4. Hard to argue with your choices of golf balls to try. I am still using the Inesis 900 because of the availability here in Thailand.

  5. I'm currently gaming the Bridgestone e 12 Contact, a ball with – for me – an exceptional feel at impact. "Feel" is highly subjective, but I've been playing for about 46 years now and the e 12 feels better for me than anything else and I've hit most everything there is to offer. The e 12 is straight off the driver with a solid feel and the feel off my irons is EXCEPTIONAL The other 2 balls I like, though not as well, are the Srixon soft Feel and the Maxfli Softfli. The Maxflis I have are the greenish yellow matte finish and they, like other matte balls, are difficult to clean but I used 1 Maxfli earlier this year when I had the privilege of playing Bay Hill and it performed well for all 18 holes. (It performed better than I did, but that's another story.) Can you, possibly, check out the e 12 and the Maxfli in a future video as I'm curious as to what's under the covers. Good video, BTW.

  6. Interesting vid! After trying a few balls including the Wilson and the Srixon, I use the precept laddie as the best combo of performance and value I've found. I haven't tried cutting one open though!!

  7. I really enjoy the nitro yes they may not be the best but for the value and my skill level they are the best option for me

  8. Supposedly Taylormade changed the core of the Tour Response to the same tach as the TP5. It would be interesting to see this years and last years models cut open.

  9. Review the Maxfli Softfli and Straightfli balls. Found and played a Softfli and it was pretty good!

  10. The q-star divide I love. Just actually switch away from it to a higher compression, but it's great for me in the winter months.

  11. Also fan of the q star tour. I play the divide version which helps lining up drives and putts without silly line markings on it. Also, i dont have to find my ball in a see of 4 white balls on every fairway and green. You can spot the divide ball from afar. Top ball ❤

  12. I find it hysterical that you find the Callaway Super soft with an uneven cover and rate it low and then show the Wilson rated highest with an uneven cover.
I have watched many of you YouTube "experts" judging golf balls. What I have seen is either, those that have something to gain for their "reviews", fanboys pushing their favorite ball for YouTube views, or simply their opinions.
One of these days….maybe….one of you might say, maybe golf is more of a "feel" game and less a "what does the manufacturer say" game.
Golf is like eating food. Everyone likes what they like. Example: I hit Supersoft because I love the "feel". I am not a pro golfer. Nor is ANYONE watching your video. 25-30 years ago I played Wilson Pro Staff. At that time about $15 for 18 balls. They played like a balata ball. Good distance and spun on the green like crazy. Their only downside was durability, like a balata. I was an 11 handicap then and now I play Supersofts because they feel great to me and I'm no longer an 11.
    Golf is feel….first and foremost.

  13. Last summer I found a Wilson triad while playing a round. Eventually played it and found my absolute favorite ball and haven’t looked back since!

  14. Minimum of three piece is my rule. The Callaway super speed is a great ball though. TM tour response is a fantastic ball as well. Like a Srixon divide, it’s cool watching the spin around the greens and they have a great feel. Love Matte finish balls as well.

  15. I’m a Pro V1 guy 100%, but will never buy new ones. Get recycled balls! 48 5A MINT condition balls for $105. Sure there may be a few 4A conditions, but all would be playable and I’d tee them up in a tournament too!

  16. i buy and play Pinnacle soft which I find to be decent and a budget ball. I have won a box or two of Kirkland signature and found them to have too much of a click sound and feel, I do not like them.

  17. I’m using the Wilson Triad currently and love it. Also I do know a lot of people using Qstars. The Titleist Tour softs deserve a mention also

  18. How many strokes are we talking about?

If anything I will score better with Kirkland now that I know it’s not such a great ball. I won’t feel bad losing them.
That always helps me hit them straight.

  19. Love my Vice Pro balls. Play the bright orange/red balls so someone doesn’t hit mine by “mistake”.

  20. Never had any issues with Calloway super soft balls…other than me being the problem 😂 Lovely feel off the face and around the greens and a good bloody price!
