Brandel Chamblee has called on Bryson DeChambeau to “quit complaining” after the U.S. Open champion was unhappy with the bunkers at LIV Golf Mexico City.
DeChambeau put in an impressive performance in the Mexican capital, but eventually fell short of victory in the final, having been pipped by Joaquin Niemann, who won his third LIV event of the season. The breakaway league headed to Mexico City for the first time, with the event taking place at Club de Golf Chapultepec.
The course appeared to be one that suited the big-hitting DeChambeau, with the ball traveling further through the air thanks to the high altitude.

When it came to the bunker conditions, though, it appeared the two-time major winner was not happy. In a video that surfaced on social media, DeChambeau was seen practicing out of the sand before complaining to those around him that they were not fit for use.
Fluffing an attempt out of a bunker, DeChambeau was heard saying: “Worst f—— bunkers ever. The worst. Look, you have the f——… what the hell. You could hurt somebody’s wrist, you could break somebody’s wrist. You can’t even get it out… It is so so bad. So bad.”
The clip has since gained hundreds of thousands of views on social media, and also caught the eye of Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee, who had little sympathy for DeChambeau. Taking aim at both the player, he took to X to have his say on DeChambeau’s frustrations.
He tweeted: “A) He signed up for this when he signed on to be a puppet for a murderous dictator and to play a tour that does not value the best conditioned courses, but those that will hold events for a murderous dictator. B) This is what practice rounds are for.

“C) You signed on for hundreds of millions, quit complaining.” DeChambeau had previously described the challenge facing players around the course as “diabolical”, despite his advantage off the tee. “The golf course is gettable, but it’s diabolical, as well,” he told reporters after the first round.
“There were a lot of moments where I felt like I was going to get it to nine, ten-under, and there were moments where I’m like, man, ‘I could be three-under or two-under easily if I don’t get my act in shape. “It’s a teeter-totter golf course. You can hit a drive down by the green, but it depends on the lie, depends on the flag, depends on if you can make some six, seven-footers out here.”
Expanding on the toughness, he added a day later: “So there’s some areas where the grass is really thick. And you barely get in the rough, and you can have a super thick lie and it comes out dead and you have no control of the ball, and there are areas where in the rough it’s super firm and dry and fast and you can get fliers out of there…
“On the greens, if you’re above the hole on certain pin locations, considering where they placed them this week, it’s nearly impossible. So really, placing yourself in good positions and giving yourself a chance to make birdie every single hole is key, but it’s diabolical because of that dry factor and then wet factor that we have out here.”
