Is there anything you are trying to do with the wrists during this, any ulnar deviation ? How about on your regular non drill swing?
I like to practice a fairway off the deck from a good up lie. Then go right to driver with a low-ish tee height. This promotes a very similar swing with fairway wood and driver as opposed to a driver swing that is much different with the ball teed really high
It’s all about the club path….with any club in the bag…
More great advice from Tom S. I was looking at a YouTube review of a pretty expensive mini driver recently that I was considering, then read in the comments where a subscriber recommended just teeing the ball low (about one inch high) and playing it slightly back in the stance more like a fairway wood rather than buying another expensive club. So I tried it with my S&T swing and began striking tee shots (stingers, really) straight and long. This works really well for me! New shot in the bag. Great recommendation, Tom!
SET THE MACHINE! 😂👍
Hey Tom, loving your super simple system of ball striking. It's really improving my golf and making it a hell of a lot more enjoyable.
Any chance of doing a video on ball position relative to club selection?
I think a lot of people struggle with ball position.
Cheers
Rob (Central Coast, Australia)
3 wood tee… 😊
My advise…. Don’t try this with your brand new 650.00 driver… pull one out of the garage and dust it off. 😅
Great video
This is one thing I have noticed with my new swing I tend to tee it lower
I was skying a few at first until I started teeing it lower and now I just nail them down the middle
Your a legend Tom 👏
Out of curiosity what is the loft of the driver you're using?
Wow
I’m trying this out in about 1 hour 😮
You’ve literally taken my game and made it drastically more consistent. To anyone reading this: just get the app already! It’s worth the ZERO dollars that it costs. Some really great info and drills for anyone who is trying to improve
I am trying this the next time I'm at the range because this "tee it high off your left foot" BS is too inconsistent for me.
I’ve been teeing it lower than suggested heights for years. It always felt right with my driver.
Thank you Savant Sensei Saguto…the Chef Approves
You forgot to mention that it's almost impossible to hit it left(for you righties) when teed low, and played off the heel..good bit of knowledge for those holes with trouble on the left..
I have tried this in the past. I just drop kick it or hit real fat.
Last week I hit 3 wood off the tee box, big dogleg right so didn't want to hit thru the fairway. Teed it very low and absolutely hammered it. You've now got me curious about teeing the driver lower than I usually do. Will try this tomorrow
I went to a Korn Ferry Tournament once and noticed that they teed the ball very low too.
I tried this out tonight on the range. This might have been the best tip I’ve ever used.
It allowed me to basically swing the same as my irons. I had the most consistent contact I’ve ever had with driver and got plenty of height/distance.
Not every shot was perfect, but overall there was huge improvement. Enough that I think I might actually take driver out of the bag for the next round I play.
Saguto just told all you people how to hit a driver off the deck. Whoops
I dont get it Tom! I'm getting killed with my over the top… as in every freaking club!
This is unreal. You really are the best out there. I just started teeing it up lower and have had great results. Before i saw this video. I already focus on your weight left for irons and wedges. And i follow your guitar lessons. You're a legend. Thanks
Tom… your videos are awesome… my swing week 1 June 7th last year, vs today week 46. You're the man and I appreciate all your videos dude.

Crispy KFC right there!
I’m excited to try this tomorrow. Thanks Tom.
Best teacher on Youtube!
Yes, the right clavicle rotation drill, from max left, is definitely key. But, obviously, a player has to make a good backswing, in their actual swing, for the right clavicle to be able to turn thru in the downswing. And, for me, the key to the perfect arc, that your club describes, in the backswing, is a combination of your slightly strong left hand grip; and, heel pad pressure down on the shaft. But, either way your grip and the pressure that you apply onto the handle is key to your swing arc. So, it would be good to hear more on that. And, when you stop to think about it, wouldn't it would be great if the grip could set the club off on the perfect arc, without any recall for alignment sticks etc. And, I do think thay this is possible.
Hi Tom I am a young Australian junior golfer and I have been more of a watcher of your channel any many others. I decided to act and take it to the range and wow it was as pure I put my weigh forward tucked my right arm in and tried to swing with my shoulder to the inside. As I said I hit it pure but my swing was as over the top with my irons any thoughts anyone.
Nice video. I had always hit 3W etc great with just the very top of the ball above the club head.
A few months ago I decided WTH and did the same with driver.
The only other thing I did was switch driver to 9.5 degrees which helped with the spin.. Game changer..
So yeah this video is very much worth the watch.
I had problems to hit a ball from a high tee and thought that it is my fault … 😅.
All flight-partners look strange, when they see me using wood 3 and 5 without a tee from the teebox. After hitting the ball they stop smiling.
My first Saguto-video without the feeling to be a poor golfer😊
Greetings from Munich
Tom
I discovered this accidentally a few weeks ago after having caught a case of the driver shanks. My driver hosel rockets were so ridiculous that I would hit these insane high gear effect slices that would have so much spin they would come back at me half as far as they went out. Seriously it was like trying to play golf with a boomerang.
I noticed during this time that even though I couldn’t hit driver to save a bus load of nuns I could absolutely smoke my 3 wood off the deck like I was on autopilot. So I started teeing my driver 1/2 off the ground and put a swang on it like it was a 3 wood. Boom. Instant driver smoke show.
This is a great drill that can be used on the course. Stay cool brah.
I went from an 11 degree driver to 10.5 it went good at first then I started topping it so I dialled the new driver up to11° and problem solved .
Tom, hands down the best instructor on YouTube. I finally started golf this year my boys have been playing forever.
Because of you I have started at scoring 136 to now 105. Only have played about ten times now but hoping to stay in the low 100’s to even getting into the upper 90’s
All due to your videos please keep up the good work my friend.
May be but teeing up with a driver so low causes often , in the best scenarios, a fade and in the worst a slice.Try for example to hit a ball with the driver off the deck, guaranteed it will go right
I hear the power tools in the background and think of the show – Tool Time..new show in town Golf Time starring Tom the Crispy Saguto, where crushing the ball and making it weep is what we do!!! Thanks and see you on the next episode!!
I tried this yesterday! Wow. It works! Now, I have more practice to do because I occasionally hit the turf below the tee, but it's getting my swing on the right path and helping me swing through properly. I killed some drives during my round yesterday. Thanks Tom!
Tom is the king !
Hmmmm, will try it.
I was visiting my mom in myrtle beach in March and went across the street to walk-on and realized i was at the same course you shoot your videos at.
