As an amateur, the trooper is the best bag you can get. It’s pretty much indestructible and holds plenty of discs (20+ for me)
I’ve been playing for 5 years now. I still use a satchel, one by Disc Living that has belt loops that I keep on my belt. I love it, and the courses around Vancouver don’t require more than 5 or 6 discs. They are also quite muddy much of the year, so it’s great not to have to set your bag down.
Ridge Roller for the win!
Great video! This year I finally moved up from my 2002 disc gear bag that had a CD player holder to dynamic discs Trooper bag which is a solid choice for someone on a budget
I started with the Latitude 64 Swift, I think it was $25 at the time. Absolutely loved it, served me well for almost 2 years. After a bunch of time in the sport I eventually wanted to upgrade and knew what I wanted. Just pick up a used Squatch lore 2.0 for $120 in perfect condition. Couldn't be any happier, its exactly what I want in a disc golf bag.
I think there is something to be said about starting out a hobby using entry level gear. It allows for a lower barrier to entry, you expect less out of yourself and the sport bc you spend less on everything. It allows you time to figure out exactly what gear you prefer which only comes with time. It helps you appreciate the more expensive stuff later on, and other people don't expect you to be a pro when you have cheaper gear.
Concerning the Squatch Lore. They fixed the waterbottle issue with the 2.0. It has a velcro insert you can put in it to make it so you can fit 2 water bottles side by side without them falling over. I have a waterbottle and a speaker. Works perfectly
I can’t believe you missed the Lat64 Swift for budget. It has high disc storage, extra pockets and Two bottle holders for $35. It lasted me over 250 rounds and barely has any wear, I just went for a bigger big that would be more rigid and go in a cart.
mid range bag, big miss in not including the Discology Disc Golf OG V3 bag. Best bag I've ever owned.
I had a Grip BX3 at first and switched to the Rufus from Pound. The difference is quite noticeable in quality and most importantly, comfort. I ended up purchasing the ballistic nylon version of the Octothorpe and couldn't be happier. As Ferris Bueller once said, "If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one (Pound Bag) up."
I should have been in this video no doubt 😂 Reid knows
I have the Prodigy Apex bag (not the XL version), and I can definitely recommend it as a high-quality mid-range bag. It holds around 16–17 discs, is lightweight, and is built really well with high quality materials. Plus, it looks great! The only downside is that it doesn’t offer much extra storage space for towels, extra clothes or other accessories.
Really surprised the discology OG v3 wasn't on the list
Have you gotten your hands on the Sigr Odin yet?
I just started disc golfing and got my first bag yesterday. I got the MVP satchel for 15. Holds some discs, a drink, and has a zip up pocket for stuff like a uv light. Decent color options too.
Sorry to see that you guys have totally missed the best discgolfbag on the planet. The V4 by Berg Sport/ Berg Bags, half the price of the Pound bag and absolutely at the same level in quality, storage and capacity. You defenately need to check it out in another video. 🎒👍
the new sigr bags?
I have had pretty much at least one bag from all the premium companies – Grip, Upper Park, Squatch, but Pound is the best out there for sure. I have a Rufus, and it is the best bag that I have ever owned. One more that is not mentioned but has to be up their for quality, is the Revolution Mini Deluxe, especially with quad straps. It has really great storage for a bag of that size.
Nice video, but you missed the Berg Sport V4. Pound is the only bag that rivals it in quality but can not compare to the ingenuity and storage capacity. Cheers mate
I've been eyeing the SIGR Odin Backpack. I'd love to know your thoughts on it and how it stacks up with your "bougie" section of bags.
I started 7 years ago with a satchel, moved up to a budget backpack and then crowned with my Pound Silvertip Octothorpe. I love that bag but it's way more than I need 90% of the time so just as you predicted I've downsized to a Pound Vagabond shoulder bag for my current Goldilocks fit.
I've been quite happy with the Dynamic combat ranger – I think you're right that they overstate sales, but I still picked up a pretty good deal on the sockibomb version when they were liquidating all their Risky stuff. Bag and two of his signature discs for 125 or so.
Only minor beef with it is the pocket on one side has a fixed stitched divider sizing it for a medium and a small bottle. It would be a better design to do one big pocket with dome fasteners or something that you could divide it or leave open.
