Kai Trump could hardly believe her eyes after almost scoring the perfect hole-in-one during a recent round of golf – only to be denied by the pin.

The 17-year-old continues to focus all her attention on becoming better at the sport as she aspires to make it to the very top, taking after her grandfather United States President Donald Trump and his love for the game by practicing day in, day out in the hope of turning pro. That has led the teenager to document her progress on her fast-growing YouTube channel, playing on some of the best courses in the country.

One recent video, however, left fans stunned after Trump almost pulled off the impossible during a leisurely round of golf. The daughter of Donald Trump Jr. is known to be very talented at what she does, as shown by her commitment to play golf at the University of Miami, and that was on full display earlier this month.

Taking on the par 3 course at Panther National, a private golf course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Kai was determined to get an ace in her 9-hole round, and almost achieved exactly that in the most unbelievable fashion. Attempting a crazy shot, she connected with the ball perfectly as it sailed towards the flagstick.

As the ball made its descent, both Kai and her cameraman started to believe that it was on its way in, setting up for one of the most remarkable shots ever seen. A distinct sound could then be heard as the ball made contact with the hole, leading Kai to believe that she had just pulled off the impossible.

Turning towards the cameraman, who could be heard saying “no way”, the teenager’s jaw dropped in disbelief as reality began to sink in. However, a male voice out of shot said that the ball had in fact “hit the flag”, which turned out to be true once they made their way up to the hole.

“It hit the pin, and then bounced there and stopped,” a disheartened Kai said, showing where the ball had landed. She then gave a look of frustration as she tried to smile at the camera, to which her cameraman simply replied: “Good effort.” Nonetheless, it was an amazing achievement to even hit the flag let alone record the ace.

The teenager can certainly take confidence from her impressive attempt and may well strike gold the next time she tries to pull off the impossible shot. Her decision to try and score a hole-in-one from so far out just shows the level of confidence she is playing with, and further proves how much she backs herself to succeed.

However, that same spirit wasn’t on show at the recent Junior Invitational in Sage Valley, where things probably couldn’t have gone worse for the 17-year-old as she struggled against some of the world’s best. Kai had been invited to compete with 24 of the world’s top young female golfers, where she was keen to show what she can do.

As it happened, though, President Trump’s granddaughter ended her final round 17-over, shooting 89 and finishing the tournament at 52-over, with rounds of 89-79-83-89, placing her last among the competitors. Notably, her score was nearly double that of the next closest competitor, indicating a tough time for the No. 151 ranked girls golfer in Florida.

Her final ranking wasn’t helped by the fact she dropped 17 shots on the final 13 holes in her first round of the junior tournament. Despite receiving praise from PGA Tour star Rory McIlroy, Trump failed to find any consistency in her game, and will now hope to do better when she next decides to take to the course.
