Kai Trump has announced which golfer she’s hoping will don the Green Jacket at the conclusion of this year’s Masters – but the 17-year-old and avid golfer herself received a fair bit of criticism for her take.

Entering the final round of the major, Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau were neck and neck with each vying for their first win at The Masters. Heading into Sunday, the Northern Irishman boasted a two-stroke lead over the American following a stellar third round in which he shot 6-under 66 – bringing him to 12-under-par through 54 holes.

McIlroy appeared to be in trouble early on, recording a double bogey on the first hole of the culminating round. But the 35-year-old recovered nicely, sinking birdies on two of his next three holes to reclaim the lead.

Taking to social media, Trump voiced her support for McIlroy in a TikTok to Lady Gaga’s 2009 single ‘Bad Romance.’ The grandchild of President Donald Trump – who stopped short of naming his Masters favorite – lip-synced the lyrics “I don’t wanna be friends” alongside a message that read: “Rory isn’t going to win the Masters.” She additionally captioned the post, “Let’s go Rory, it’s time to get that green jacket!”

Droves of TikTok users offered their own thoughts on the thrilling finish to the Masters, with many expressing a similar sentiment as Trump. “Rory deserves that green jacket,” one X user wrote, with another adding: “Rory for the win.”

Others sided with DeChambeau, insisting that it was his major to lose. “Sorry to say it but Bryson’s is wearing that jacket tomorrow,” someone said. A fourth clapped back at Kai, asking: “Why wouldn’t you support an American? Go Bryson!!!”

Trump’s loyalty to McIlroy should come as no surprise given the pair’s multiple run-ins over the last couple of months. Back in January, the teenager and her mom, Vanessa visited the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for night four of the 2025 TGL season.

It was there that the mother and daughter watched as Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club defeated McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf team, 4-3, in the tech-infused golf league that they co-founded.

As players from both sides were being formally introduced, Kai managed to snag a high-five from McIlroy while reaching over the railing during his walkout.

Several weeks later, McIlroy and Trump played a round together at Torrey Pines during a charity event intended to raise money for those who’ve been impacted by the California wildfires.

Upon hitting a beautiful shot from the rough that came to a standstill on the green, Trump received due praise from McIlroy – who couldn’t help but sneak in a backhanded compliment.

“Good shot, Kai. You’re too good for this YouTube golf,” McIlroy said. Trump took the unsubtle dig in stride, replying: “Honestly, I think that’s what it is. I’m just too good.”
