Jerry Kelly has one-upped Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. On Friday in the opening round of the PGA Tour Champions Mitsubishi Electric Classic, Kelly fired a 10-under 62 to set the course record at TPC Sugarloaf.
Woods and Mickelson held the old mark, along with Ben Crane, at 63.
The Champions tour is playing the par 72 at 7,054 yards this week. Kelly went 33-29 to set the mark.
Jerry Kelly walks the 18th hole during the first round of the 2025 Mitsubishi Electric Classic at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Georgia.
“I birdied three out of the first four or five, then I hit a little bit of a lull,” he said. “Starting on the back side, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. … five in a row there. Then happened to miss one and then made the par 3, then woefully short on 17, but got the one on 18. It was just very consistent.”
Kelly, 58, has also now recorded his low round ever on the PGA Tour Champions in 558 rounds. His back nine 29 is the lowest nine-hole score on tour in 2025. Kelly leads Ernie Els by three after 18 holes.
