My forehand has always been my weak point. Over the past couple of months I’ve gained distance and here’s how I have done it.

  1. Totally understand "sports dad" problems. My daughter just finished 4 years of college soccer. I had SOOOO MUCH free time.

  2. I REALLY like the thoughts on this. I'm definitely starting to get more distance with my forehand. This started when I began to focus on getting that elbow through better. Now I have a good visualization of this with this video.

  3. All good tips here. It took me a really long time to develop an "OK" forehand, mainly because I don't do fieldwork, I just practiced on the course. So I was avoiding them at first. I did do some forehand-only rounds though, and that helps get some reps. I focused on the same things, leading with the elbow, and I always really need to focus on driving my wrist toward the target line. I used to "scoop" the disc nose-up sometimes, particularly on hyzer shots, or roll my wrist over on flat or anny shots. So when adding more power, I really have to focus on keeping the disc on plane. I can only throw about 80% power at most, otherwise I'm too wild, like throwing a pitch. I need to practice with understable discs more and get cleaner releases, it's more of a feel that develops over time.
