  1. Hagler was assertive and aggressive the whole fight, to me Hagler won this in my eyes leonard was on the bicycle quite often and was holding and grabbing and should've gotten a point taken off for that, the last round he threw a couple flurries and was on the bicycle for most of the round to me that's not fighting! That how I' and many felt about that fight for decades. Back than the commentators favored Sugar Ray and their commentation proved it they were critical of Hagler throughout the fight. Ray flurries were often like a spell with boxing fans yet they didn't do any damage but the fans were always were taken by them.

  2. Hagler started off too slow and gave away the first three rounds, he seemed mechanical and his timing was off. I think if they had fought 4, or 5 years earlier Marvin would have won.

  3. A message to all of you Marvelous Marvin Hagler fans who gave the fight to him- Sugar Ray won that, and it wasn't even close.

  4. 🥊 Win The Crowd . . . And You'll Win Your 𝓕𝓡𝓔𝓔𝓓𝓞𝓜!! 🥊

    🏆

What I am surprised at is people still do not seem to realize that there are some people who "know how to Win" and there are others who refuse to engage in those antics. . . Sugar Ray Leonard knew how to Win!! . . . Immediately following another Victory in a small arena in North Africa, Maximus . . . (beginning to succumb to his fate in despair) . . . insults the crowd who were cheering for him by angrily yelling derisively at them . . . " . . . ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!?! . . . ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?!? . . . " . . . This tarnished the reputation of his Master, Proximo . . . For Maximus still had not learned how . . . to Win!! . . .

    Proximo: What do you want? . . . Hmm? . . . Girl? . . . Boy?

    Maximus: You sent for me?

Proximo: Yes I did. . . You are good 𝓢𝓹𝓪𝓷𝓲𝓪𝓻𝓭, . . . but you are not that good,. . . . you could be 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭!!

Maximus: I'm required to kill, so I kill. . . That is enough.

Proximo: That's enough for the 𝓟𝓻𝓸𝓿𝓲𝓷𝓬𝓮𝓼, but not for 𝓡𝓸𝓶𝓮. . . The young 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐫 has arranged a series of spectacles to commemorate his father, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬. I find that amusing, since it was 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬 the Wise, the All Knowing 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬 that closed us down. . . So, after five years of scratching a living in flea-infested villages, we're finally going back to where we belong. . . . The 𝓒𝓸𝓵𝓸𝓼𝓼𝓮𝓾𝓶 . . . [𝐢𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐲] . . . Oh, you should see the 𝓒𝓸𝓵𝓸𝓼𝓼𝓮𝓾𝓶, 𝓢𝓹𝓪𝓷𝓲𝓪𝓻𝓭 . . . 50,000 𝓡𝓸𝓶𝓪𝓷𝓼, watching every movement of your sword. Willing you, to make that killer blow. . . [𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠] . . . The silence before you strike, and the noise afterwards, it rises. . . Rises up like, like [𝐬𝐡𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠] like a 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐌. . . [𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐲] . . . As if you were the 𝓣𝓱𝓾𝓷𝓭𝓮𝓻 𝓖𝓸𝓭 himself.

    Maximus: You were a Gladiator?

    Proximo: Yes, I was!!

    Maximus: You won your 𝓕𝓡𝓔𝓔𝓓𝓞𝓜?

Proximo: A long time ago, the 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐫 presented me with a 𝐑𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐬. It's just a wooden sword. The symbol of your 𝓕𝓡𝓔𝓔𝓓𝓞𝓜, . . . He, . . . he . . . (𝐌𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐬 begins to laugh silently) . . . touched me on the shoulder and I was 𝓕𝓡𝓔𝓔.

Maximus: [𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞𝐬] You knew 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬?

Proximo: [𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐲] I DID NOT SAY I KNEW HIM, . . . I SAID HE TOUCHED ME ON THE SHOULDER ONCE!!

Maximus: You asked me what I want . . . I too want to stand in front of the 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐫, as you did.

Proximo: Then listen to me. Learn from me . . . I wasn't the best because I killed quickly. I was the best because the 𝓒𝓻𝓸𝔀𝓭 ♥𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓭 ♥me . . . Win the 𝓒𝓻𝓸𝔀𝓭 and you'll Win your 𝓕𝓡𝓔𝓔𝓓𝓞𝓜.

    Maximus: I will Win the 𝓒𝓻𝓸𝔀𝓭 . . . [𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐥𝐲] . . . I will give them something they've never seen before . . .

Proximo: [𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐬] Ha!! . . . So 𝓢𝓹𝓪𝓷𝓲𝓪𝓻𝓭!! . . . We shall go to 𝓡𝓸𝓶𝓮 together, and have bloody adventures. . . And 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓖𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓽 𝓦𝓱𝓸𝓻𝓮 will suckle us until we are fat and happy and can suckle no more!! . . . And then, . . . when enough men have Died, perhaps you will have your 𝓕𝓡𝓔𝓔𝓓𝓞𝓜 . . . [𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐎𝐥𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐫] . . . here, use this . . .

  5. Split decision, my ass. Hagler lost this fight like he had never lost a fight. He got beat clean. Hagler was one hell of a boxer but I lost respect for him when he claimed he won this fight. He knows he lost. It wasn't even close.

  6. Two incredible fighters…I remember the nerves the day of this fight ….did not want to see either fighter lose.
HAGLER got caught up in rays fight…
HAGLER was as tired as I ever seen him in a fight ( more than likely the misses of thrown power punches which drain you so fast)
Both these men were and always will be KINGS IF NOT GODS OF THE RING.
MARVELOUS MARVIN HAGLER you left us to early and left us a lifetime of your legacy.
    God bless.

  7. Sugar was a master at mind games. Knocking out Hearns and making Duran quit, weighed heavily on Hagler’s mind. One because if Hearns had not broken his hand he may have knocked Hagler out. Sugar knew that and came up with the perfect strategy. Near the end of the round go toe to toe with a furious flurry. You could see it made Hagler nervous and made him lose his confidence🥊

  8. Leonard is the first in a line of dopey rabbit boxers that don't engage in the fight and try to steal the jury decision (actually cassius clay was the first but in the heavy weight class, where it is more excusable). It's one thing to control the fight while being engaged in fighting the opponent with skills it's an entirely different matter to avoid confrontation and hop around the ring to fight the clock instead of the opponent and it's not that difficult to do that and should be penalized. Then just gets within boxing distance to "tag" the opponent with grand flurry gestures to make the jury think you're the dominating fighter, unfortunately a lot of jury fall in that trap. Even comentators in this fight fall in that trap. You can see Hagler is not hurt at all when Leonard displays for the jury. He flurries with speed but no power with the energy he saved by doing non combative boxing, fake boxing. Leonard was that type of non combative boxer and he knew it and that's why he admired real boxers who fought toe to toe and won like Duran, which when he tried to imitate was puts in his place on the canvas. I seriously think boxing rule should be updated to penalize rabbit boxers because if you don't want to box you shouldn't be on a ring. But because it was not penalized more boxers of that type exploited that loophole and turned boxing into a boring jury manipulation matter. Honing that skill to be non combative by never allowing the opponent to be within reach to strike is what the likes of mayweather did. It's not true boxing and made for boring fights because it's like not boxing while being in a boxing match. Then when you allow the opponent to come within striking distance you all prepared to "tag" him and step out again to add fake points. At the end you get a very frustrated opponent because he is a better boxer but you don't engage in boxing. This is what happened with Marvin and with other boxers that Leonard fought including 2nd fight with Duran and stole a victory.

  9. That punk Leonard was on in his bicycle in the first round that’s not fighting Ali would dance but he would stick that hard jab in your face.

  10. The ring was so big you could’ve had two fights going in the same ring why did the Haggler people agree to such a big ring and smaller Reyes gloves would have been better for that showboat Leonard since the start of the fight he has been on his bicycle and then comes in and throws some paddy punches and the crowd gets all excited just look how long it took haggler to knock out Hears and how long it took that punk Leonard to knock Hearns I rest my case and then there was only one Sugar Ray and that was Sugar Ray Robinson and Leonard was no Sugar Ray Robinson.

  12. La pelea la ganó hagler . Leonard puro correr. Tenía que hacer como tommy Hearns que perdió con las botas puestas . Hagler fue el mejor

  13. Only respect for SRL, great perfomance and great showing of his skills. But Hagler has won this fight by 1 or 2 rds. at least. 118-110 in favour of SRL was disgraceful.

  14. Sugar ray won. He seize the moments more than hagler. Hagler was dry. Sugar ray energy was more electrifying. Hagler didn't fight with the heart of a champion.

  15. As much as I love Marvin Hagler he gave ray the first 3 rounds and when he finally started getting his rhythm it was too late and Ray was smart not trying to trade with Hagler, he danced and threw flurries and won rounds .

  16. Personally I give that bout to Hagler. He fought a warrior fight. No clinching & no punch after the bell. He fought it out cleanly. He should walked out as the winner.

  17. Hagler absolutely won this one, you just have to turn the volume off during the entire match and see how your perspective changes, damn that judge 118 to 110 in favour of srl NO WAY!

  18. I have a rule of giving really close rounds to the pressure fighter and still had Leonard winning 7-4 one even. the even round was one of the middle rounds where they basically both fought inside toe to toe most the round and both landed well.

  19. Controversial take here… Modern (unbiased) judges would have cards that were relatively one sided for Sugar Ray. It would have been a UD for him, too. That 118-110 score isn't so egregious now that we have people using very similar defensive strategies in modern boxing. Today, people use a similar style with less offense, and they STILL win

  20. Sugar ray leonard the greatest talent in boxing, WOW HE'S EXEPIONAL AND TOO GOOD 😂🎉😢
