Kai Trump may be the granddaughter of the President of The United States, but this did not stop one golf tournament announcer from getting her name wrong at an event this week.

Kai was one of 24 players selected to compete in the prestigious Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in South Carolina, with the field containing some of the best junior golfers in the world. The most popular to those watching appeared to be the 17-year-old granddaughter of President Trump though.

Trump supporters descended on the South Carolina golf course to catch a glimpse of the youngster in action, who has taken after her grandfather as a keen golfer.

When getting her round underway this week though it was a case of mistaken identity, with the Daily Mail reporting that the first tee caller announced Kai as one of her playing partners, before quickly stumbling over his words and correcting himself.

Despite the support across the golf course, Kai struggled to find her best golf at Sage Valley, in what proved to be a tough week. While she made a solid start to her opening round with five pars on the bounce, the granddaughter of the U.S. President went on to play the next 13 holes in 17-over-par.

This left her at the bottom of the leaderboard, but she returned for her second round a day later and made plenty of improvements, going 10 shots better than her opening 17-over 89 with a seven-over 79. Another tough day followed in the third round though.

Kai carded an 11-over 83 on day three to once again leave her at the bottom of the leaderboard out of the 24 players in action. Whilst it has proven to be a tough week for the teenager, her golf game has recently caught the eye of one of the best players on the planet.

The grandchild of President Trump impressed four-time major champion and world No. 2 Rory McIlroy after they played together at a charity event at Torrey Pines recently. The tournament was in aid of people impacted by the wildlifes that swept through California earlier this year.

Kai shared some of her play alongside McIlroy on her YouTube channel, where the Northern Irishman was heard commenting: “Good shot, Kai. You’re too good for this YouTube golf.” Cheekily responding, the teenager added: “Honestly, I think that’s what it is. I’m just too good.”
