Rory McIlroy is known to own various properties across the United States, but it appears the five-time major champion has also branched out across Europe too.
McIlroy finally made golfing history earlier this month, becoming the sixth player to win the career Grand Slam with victory at the Masters. The Northern Irishman first got his hands on the Green Jacket after first seeing off the challenge of Bryson DeChambeau, before pipping Justin Rose in a playoff.
In the aftermath of his win, McIlroy is known to have returned back to his home in Jupiter, Florida, alongside his wife Erica Stoll, who was on property at Augusta with their daughter Poppy to see him become champion.

McIlroy then headed back to his roots, flying back home to Northern Ireland, where he was able to meet up with his parents, who he paid an emotional tribute to prior to his Green Jacket presentation in Butler Cabin. McIlroy has camps across the globe, and it has now been claimed he also has a family home in Portugal.
The south coast of the country, known as the Algarve, is one of Europe’s most popular golfing destinations, and per Backgrid, McIlroy is believed to have a property in the area, situated near the beachfront on one of the many golf courses.
Staff who work at the property have told Backgrid that it belongs to McIlroy. It’s claimed a vehicle belonging to the five-time major winner is parked outside the house all year round.

McIlroy and his wife are no strangers to the area. Last summer, on the back of losing out to DeChambeau at the U.S. Open in heartbreaking fashion, McIlroy and his family jetted off to the Algarve for some time away from competing. He went on to take a four-week break before returning at the Scottish Open last July.
This time around, his final round battle with DeChambeau went his way, and after taking a week off by missing the RBC Heritage, McIlroy will return to the PGA Tour this week. He will do so alongside Shane Lowry, with the pair defending their title at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
The five-time major champion will have a spring in his step, having finally become a Masters champion, 11 years on from his last major triumph. “It’s a dream come true. I have dreamt about that moment for as long as I can remember,” McIlroy said at Augusta of his victory.

“I mentioned it out in the prize ceremony, but watching Tiger (Woods) here in 1997 do what he did, and then winning his first green jacket, I think that inspired so many of my generation to want to emulate what he did. You know, there were points in my career where I didn’t know if I would have this nice garment over my shoulders, but I didn’t make it easy today.
“I certainly didn’t make it easy. I was nervous. It was one of the toughest days I’ve ever had on the golf course… It’s been 14 long years, but thankfully, I got the job done.”
Several legendary figures in golf have paid tribute to McIlroy since his Masters win, including Tiger Woods. “Welcome to the club Rory McIlroy,” wrote Woods on X. “Completing the Grand Slam at Augusta is something special. Your determination during this round, and this entire journey has shown through, and now you’re a part of history. Proud of you!”

Phil Mickelson added on X: “What an incredible Masters. Congrats to Rory on his win and for completing the career grand slam. Amazing.”
Gary Player, meanwhile, wrote on X: “I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Rory McIlroy on his historic win at the Masters and completion of the career Grand Slam. The drama of today capped off with his playoff victory was simply meant to be.
“I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my admiration for Justin Rose, who embodies the true spirit of a gentleman in our game. This is one of the rarest and most difficult achievements in all of sport, something only now six golfers in history have ever accomplished.

“We are proud to add Rory to our exclusive club and no doubt he has set the standard for his era. To win all four major championships takes unwavering perseverance and the courage to overcome adversity time and time again in the face of immeasurable pressure few have ever experienced. Rory showed true grit today and also through the entire tournament.
“It was 11 years ago when Rory first started the final leg of his career Grand Slam journey. And throughout this time, he’s carried himself with class, led with principle, and played with passion.
“For him to finally don the Green Jacket in golf is a moment to be celebrated by fans around the world. Rory has made his mark on history, and all of us who love this game are incredibly proud. Well done, my friend. Welcome to our club.”
