Charlie Woods and Kai Trump have both made a huge leap in the American Junior Golf Association rankings despite their performances at the Sage Valley Junior Invitational last week.
Woods and Trump were the key names competing in the field at Sage Valley, with the former the son of 82-time PGA Tour winner Tiger Woods and the latter the granddaughter of President Donald Trump. There is no doubt the two names drew plenty of eyeballs to the event, especially in light of the new off-course romance story.
Sadly for both though they failed to find their best golf. Woods – who has been alongside his 15-time major winning dad at events in recent years – finished 25th at Sage Valley out of 36 players.

Woods looked as if he was set to secure himself a top-20 finish in the final round, however, the high school star dropped five shots across his final five holes it what proved a tough finish. Things were awful difficult for Trump too, who finished last of 24 in her draw.
The teenager finished the week 52-over-par with rounds of 79-89-83, leaving her 22 shots adrift at the bottom of the leaderboard. But while Woods and Trump struggled to make their mark at one of golf’s most prestigious junior events, there was some good news for the pair.
Woods saw his name catapult up the American Junior Golf Association rankings, with the son of arguably the greatest golfer of all time moving from 838th to 603rd in the boys’ list, a cimb of 235 places. The jump proved even bigger for the grandchild of the President.

Trump saw her name rise from 815th to 530th in the girls’ list despite her last-place finish. Due to the strength of the field at Sage Valley, the tournament was given maximum points in the rankings, despite it not being an official AJGA tournament.
The past champions list at Sage Valley includes a number of big names, including Joaquin Niemann and current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. The man who has joined Scheffler and co is teenage sensation Miles Russell, after the 16-year-old clinched the boys event.
Russell, who finds himself top of the AJGA rankings, carded an opening round three-under-par 69, before shooting three-straight 70s to ensure he came away with the title. In the aftermath the youngster caught the attention of fellow left-hander and six-time major winner Phil Mickelson.
Mickelson – who left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf in 2022 – took to social media earlier this week to tip Russell as one to watch for the future. ” “It’s going to be fun watching this young lefty’s career!” the HyFlyers captain wrote to his followers on X.
