Justin Thomas has confirmed caddie Joe Grenier will not be staying on his bag full-time, despite their victory at the RBC Heritage last weekend.

Thomas secured his first win on the PGA Tour in almost three years at Harbour Town, seeing off Andrew Novak in a playoff after the pair were tied at 17-under-par after four rounds. It comes after Thomas brought in Grenier at the Masters, following an injury to his usual caddie, Matt “Rev” Minister picked up an injury.

Grenier had split with his long-time partner – and good friend – Max Homa the week prior to the opening major championship of the year, with Homa struggling for form in 2025. It comes after another golf legend admitted “my generation’s time is up” in a heartbreaking health update.

The split worked out for Grenier, whose stint alongside Thomas has been an impressive one, topped off with victory on Sunday. Having secured a long-awaited win, it remained unknown as to what the future looked like for Thomas and his choice of caddie.

Speaking to SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio on Monday, though, Thomas confirmed Minister will return once he recovers from injury. “We all knew that going in – it was very much a fill-in situation,” he said. “We were so lucky that Joe was available until Rev got healthy.

“I love Joe to death, but I’m very excited to have Rev back.” Despite committing to bringing back his usual man in, Thomas was clearly left impressed with the work of Grenier during his stand-in role, most notably down the stretch at Harbour Town, before going on to victory.

“It’s great. We’ve had a lot of fun,” Thomas told reporters. “I think we — it’s hard because it’s — I always — have always thought caddies are in a tough spot already and kind of like a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation, let alone when it’s the second week he’s ever caddied for me.

“He knows I’m playing well, and he knows that I feel the same way. So he’s wanting to help but also trying not to over caddie, and it’s tough. But he’s doing a great job. It’s more fun than anything just because he’s got a great personality and sense of humor, where I can make fun of him.”

Grenier split with Thomas’ Ryder Cup teammate Homa earlier this month, having spent 10 years alongside each other, winning six PGA Tour titles. “Joe and I made memories for a lifetime, and can’t be more thankful for all the hard work. We have parted ways, and it will be sad to see him go,” Homa said in a statement when confirming the split.

Following five missed cuts in a row, Homa was able to return to form at the Masters, making it to the weekend at Augusta National and finishing in a tie for 12th. He then went on to finish 70th in last week’s no-cut event in South Carolina.
