GREENSBORO, Ga. (WCYB) — Even when things seem to change drastically, the results still remain the same for ETSU men’s golf.

In an impressive final round performance, the Bucs captured the program’s fifth consecutive Southern Conference Championship on Tuesday on the par-72, 7,393-yard Oconee Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia.

Despite a first-year head coach and an entirely different starting five from their 2024 championship win – it was a Bucs celebration once again.

The Buccaneers entered the day tied with UNCG at 14-under-par. ETSU had the tournament’s best team score for a round during the final, shooting a 14-under 274 to finish the event with a score of 836 (-28). The Bucs were able to build their lead to double digits on the front nine, thanks to 11 birdies and two eagles.

Individually, while UNCG’s Colin Dutton was the medalist at the event, ETSU’s Yannick Malik finished second with a tournament score of 9-under-par 207.

Alongside Malik, Kristian Bressum eagled the first hole and followed that up with a birdie at the second en route to a 4-under 68 and a fifth-place finish at 7-under for the tournament. Gavin Tiernan scuffled on the back nine but still came home in the red with a 1-under 71 and finished seventh with a 6-under par score, his first top ten finish at ETSU.

ETSU will learn its postseason destination when the NCAA selection show airs on Wednesday, April 30, at 1 p.m. Eastern on the Golf Channel.
