The second nine at Augusta National produces iconic moments year after year. #themasters

Since 1934, the Masters Tournament has been home to some of golf’s greatest moments. Amidst blooming azaleas, towering pines and flowering dogwoods, the first full week of April ushers in a stage unique to golf and to sport. Over four days and 72 holes, the smallest field in major championship golf competes for a chance to capture the Green Jacket and a place in Masters history.

  1. On Sergio's win, at one point on the back nine Justin Rose had to be 99 percent to win and Sergio just one percent or less. I mean, he had close to a zero chance well into the back nine.

  2. Great to revisit some of these,. So many great memories, but ypu could have saved so much and just put Jack's back nine in '86. That is what defined the back nine in major championship golf, as well as The Masters.

  3. Cabreras 7iron to make birdie and go to playoff with A Scott IS A MUST, it was raining also …. Iconic shot

  4. Hey Masters committee & TV networks,
if it comes to a play-off, instead of 10 & 18 sudden death over & over, how about using some of the magic holes that are on the back nine.
Back when Faldo was winning against Scott Hoch, they played the back 9 through but they never needed to get beyond the 11th hole.
Imagine a sudden death play-off going to 12 or even 13.

  5. all of these were great! but unless you were alive and watching the '86 Masters with the smooth 30 that Jack scorched the back nine with to win after nobody gave him a chance after the front nine, not to mention his age and lack of recent success, makes that moment one of the top sports moments in history. every person in my house had tears in their eyes, it was monumental. to me it's right below the USA hockey team beating the Soviet Union in the Olympics in 1980.

  6. Rarely does a golf commentator get so caught up in the moment that their emotion is verbalized with exclamation …. that " OOOOHHHH!!! " on the Larry Mize shot gets me excited every time !

  7. All great moments, but I think it's a shame that they never included Matsuyamas win and his caddies reaction of bowing to the course as he replaced the flag on 18…It's right up there for me personally as one of the best Masters moments.

  8. To bad nobody in 1935 had one of those hand-crank movie cameras pointed at the 15th green in the final round. Eventual champion Gene Sarazen hit a 3 wood over the pond for a double eagle.
