The Links at Land’s End
Those who have played The Links at Land’s End (The Links) already knew what millions are about to find out.
The Wood County golf course has been recognized by Golf Pass as one of “Top 50 Public Golf Courses in the U.S.” Specifically, The Links was ranked as the second-best golf course in the state and 27th best course in the country.

“This is a phenomenal honor, something all of us as residents of Wood County are proud of,” said Christine Thomas, Executive Director of the Wood County Economic Development Commission (WCEDC). “Just another reason why Wood County is a destination, not just for all the incredible events, like the upcoming Bassmaster Elite Tournament, but also as a weekend getaway for residents in Dallas, Houston, Shreveport, and other cities.”
GolfPass combed through nearly 275,000 GolfPass reviews to create the list from the 7,300 courses that its members have played.
“As we’ve done the past decade, we’ve taken all this valuable review data to create our best-of golf course lists,” according to GolfPass. “These 50 U.S. golf clubs and courses stood out above the crowd.
“In order to be eligible for this list, a golf course must a) be publicly accessible and b) have received at least 10 reviews in the previous year. In determining the final rankings, we weigh several factors, each of which correspond to the way our reviews are structured:
– Overall Rating
– Value
– Conditions
– Layout
– Pace of Play
– Staff Friendliness
– Off-Course Amenities”
VALUE WAS A KEY CONSIDERATION
The company continued, noting that “courses that over-deliver on what they charge tend to succeed most. That’s why you will see some $350 courses compare favorably with $50 courses in our Top 50.”
This is an important distinction, according to Tom Keenan, one of the owners of The Links.
“We strive to deliver an incredible golfing experience at a reasonable price,” said Keenan. “Our goal is to deliver such value that golfers want to come back to Wood County, again and again.”
The Links has accomplished all this, while being an amazing partner with other entities in Wood County, hosting events for the Quitman-Lake Fork Kiwanis Club, Wood County Marine Corps League, Patriot Sporting Challenge, and the local chamber of commerce.
