The chance to play the world-renowned Old Course at St Andrews is no longer a distant dream for Scots golfers.

St Andrews Links Trust will open its famous fairways at significantly reduced rates this summer in an attempt to widen access and promote participation in the sport.

The Drive initiative will make 179 tee times available at reduced rates between May and October, providing more than 700 golfers with the opportunity to play the Old, Castle, Jubilee and Eden courses.

The scheme represents an 87.5 per cent reduction of the high-season green fees, with a round on the Old Course costing £42.50 instead of the usual £340, and a round on the Castle Course dropping from £180 to £22.50.
