Let Takomo know they need a left handed copper set please
Well done James 👏 😊
Not necessarily a fair comparison. You're shafts on fitted set is worth double the price of the unfitted set.
I think the unfitted set stood up well.
if you're gonna spend a lot more money on a fitting once you have them, then direct to consumer have no real value. Plus the chrome looks much better than the bronze, in my opinion.
This was well done! Are the balls a variable? Have you hit the balls a million times and it's time to change out? Are you mixing, Wilson, TP5 and TP5X? Not a criticism, just a question?
James, stop chasing the money… Be a true independent reviewer and tell the people what clubs are in your bag… You spent so much time with PXG as an example and loved the clubs… So use them… Same goes for with the LAB putter… Stop chasing the endorsement money…
Nice James, great feed back. Some people just should not comment IMO
Would a fitting be useful for someone that isn’t in that standard size range? I’m 6’1, not the tallest guy in the world, but static fit charts have me at 2 degrees upright. I have my first fitting ever scheduled for next week so I’m curious what they put me in. Good content as always.
Rocking those green grips on my t150s yessssss James
James 201s your views mate pls or anyone have them
If you get fit i feel it just gives you more confidence as you then know there correct for you 👍 if it goes wrong then its YOU not equipemt
could a high handicapper use the 301cb? i love the look but i’m currently gaming a set of sim2 max. I hit them relatively well but get little to no feel out of them.
I'm feeling EXACTLY the same thing with temps in regard to both LA GOLF and Fujikura Axiom shafts. Was wondering if it was in my head or if it's a real thing. Doesn't much matter but could be a variable.
How is the wear on that copper finish?
I low key thing takomo is a scam.. I ordered the 301 combo set and they don’t even come close to our mainstream brands… very disappointed, gonna try and return them asap 🤦🏽
I appreciate the fact that Takomo and Seed are sponsoring The Next 100 Tour because I look forward to the very enjoyable vlog every week!
I would say front to back dispersion might be 3 yards but right to left could be as much as 15 yards
Swing speeds were different by 3-5 mph on the shorter shots. Not the club, it was either heavy strike of inconsistent seing
How nice do they look 🔥
Consistent distance and tight dispersion wins every time.
Are you using the same ball for each swing, James? Different balls can produce different results.
So is your suggestion to get fit, get your specs and then order that spec on takomo? This is almost what I did, but they don't allow returns on custom which sucks considering you don't get to test them ahead to see how they feel.
So go and buy these , then get different shafts in them , so whats the point
My game has progressed to the point I can hit either set consistently bad.
The 301's are nice, but one of the best rounds I have ever witnessed you play, was with the 201's, that little bit of extra forgiveness but still looking like a blade from above was IMHO worth it. Takomo need to offer the copper finish in all their models. They do look mint, same with the Cobra king forged Tec, always looks better in the copper finish. But the Tacomo's deliver without the massive price tag.
I assume the swing weight is the same throughout your fitted irons? I remember you had lighter shafts in the long irons, do they still match swing weight or are they a lighter swing weight as well?
10 to 14 handicap…. Wonder what would be best fit? Trying to get to single digit handicap this season.
I was fitted for a set of Callaway Apex TI Fusion at Club Champion here in Australia. I love the way they feel and the way they are wearing.
Really wanted them but now at 8 weeks and getting frustrated to cancel
Conspiring graphite to steel should not give you the same feel?
Your sweet looking copper set with LA golf shafts would be 3 times the price of the standard set. Did you waste your money. But they look cool and I like the green grips
James, your swing/ball speed had A LOT of variance. I would say that had more to do with the distance variance then the actual clubs. At the end of the day, is paying double the price for Takomos due to upcharge for slightly better dispersion/feel worth it? That's a personal question, but even at double that still just puts them in Ping/Mizuno/Titlest off the shelf prices.
I am considering the takomo 101t but coming from some forged mizuno mp53 irons, I'm worried they won't feel as nice and it's difficult to get a demo club in my hand 😢
It looks like you're not always using the same style of ball. Would that explain some of the variance?
Complete and utterly rubbish clubs, you said they should go 150yds but every ball went 149yds. Shockingly bad 😂😅😂
I’m looking to upgrade from my beginner stix club set. I like takomos but I’m not a fan steel shafts. I’m ordering just the 101 heads. Can anyone recommend a good budget friendly graphite shaft?
I tried to like the takomo 301 combo set but with same shafts as my 2019 t100s I hit the titliest way better longer and straiter not even close
Nothing remotely remarkable about Takomo. No originality. No design or tech innovation. No actual contribution to the improvement of golf equipment performance. They're just over hyped, decent looking garbage at best. If their claim is that they are making golf more affordable.. these really arent worth more than about $300, and with plenty of room left for profit margin.. so they're actually ripping people off.
This is really interesting – I actually think the important point is for a mid – high handicapper where shots will be even more inconsistent, the standard set would be perfect. And for price, why spend double the amount on a “named” brand.
