LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – For many the Masters is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This year, 14 University of Nebraska students got to be a part of one of the iconic moments in golf.
Nebraska has ties to the Masters as Jim James, the chief club and hospitality officer, is from the Cornhusker state.
It’s a competitive application process requiring an international application from UNL and one through Augusta National, many of those selected already and prior hospitality experience making them an even better candidate.
The group of various classes spent 10 days at the Augusta National Golf Club working in the patron’s cabin where their main roles were to be servers to the attendees.
“Yeah, there are luxury things here in Nebraska but there is genuinely nothing that college students have the opportunity to do where everything has to be perfectly placed, every person who comes in is important and valued, everything just needs to be to the highest level of detail and beautiful for these people because they paid so much money to be there, it’s like they’re going to Disney World,” said Abby Cantrell, UNL student.
Despite working 14-hour days, they still got the chance to catch some of the big stars on the green.
