Great concept, i still have my John Letters blades and 1, 2,3 and 4 woods from 1973, changed the plates and faces in the woods more times than i can remember, still give them an airing occasionally, putted with a hickory putter
I was thinking the video was a competition into how many times you could say pure in the beginning….then I realised that you were going to play golf 😂

I misinterpreted the title to mean Fryer was using the antique clubs for more of a challenge.
Mizuno TP-9s are the newest set of irons I play with.

When I grow up, I want to swing like George.
Great idea. I have similar but I am guessing larger T Zoid Comp EZs and easier to hit John Letters Swingmaster 2 from 20 & 50 years ago. Plus some traditional Ping irons and my trusty Wilson 8813. Those older clubs are much more forgiving Matt 😉and you’re inspiring me to use them more.

I like these videos where a pro uses old clubs. They always highlight just how well the tour pros can strike the ball with any kind of club. It's very impressive to watch, and just emphasises the point that it's the swing, not the club, that counts.

Mizuno commercial as usual for profit. The golf corporations are pushing smaller clubs and mini drivers because viewership of golf is going down. The Professionals are hitting Driver /pitching wedge into par 5s. The technology is screwing golf courses and making it boring to watch. I didn't even know there was a mini driver in this video before I commented. It's obvious that the 460cc driver is going to be phased out gradually. Money talks
I think Matt needs to be careful with the self-flagellation, it'll end up driving people away from his content, Nobody wants to watch 40-odd minutes of someone constantly telling themselves they're rubbish. I like the guy don't get me wrong but he needs to change his mindset, he's playing golf on youtube and getting paid for it, there are much worse places to make a living. Cheer up lad.
425 yard par-5!!!! Back in the day of retro clubs, par-5 holes started at 470 yards length.
These are fun challenges to watch, but using modern golf balls cancels out much of the disadvantage of using old clubs.
To play with those clubs, George did very well.

I have that MP600 driver. Sounds like a tin can being thrown at a tumble dryer. Hits the ball fine but worst sound imaginable.

It's the modern ball that makes it easy for the modern player. Try it with a wound balata.
It's hard to believe Matt couldn't find a persimmon driver and an old putter. Next time you need either of those, give me a shout! 😁
George Bloor …low key making his way up the rankings. I'd be very surprised if the story doesn't finish with contending on DP Tour. Very good all round game and temperament.
Those Mizunos are point and shoot , some of the best and easiest clubs I’ve ever hit . Just about to watch the video surely our pro can manage these .
