  1. The actual line is more sinister. After the entire town listened to Gene's character 'Bill' whipping 'Ned' (Morgan Freeman), Bill says to Ned, 'And when their lies ain't the same as your lies. Well, I ain't gonna hurt no woman. But I'm going to hurt you…and not gentle like before.'

  2. It was a perfect movie. It begins with the script. The character W.W. Beauchamp, the writer, provided continuity, a hierarchy, as he moves from English Bob, then to Little Bill Daggett, and finally to William Munni who spurns him. Brilliant plot device. Schofield Kid who was in it for the glasses but finally saw he wasn’t like Will Munni. The brothel mamasan Strawberry Alice. Everything was so perfect Shakespeare couldn’t do it better.

  3. When Gene gets mad, he is really mad. And he will hurt you, and yell at you, and destroy you. He is the Best actor ever. Like in 1978 , when he was in Superman part 1. Hs didnt care that he knew that Miss. Tessmacher's mother – lived in California and was to ge destroyed by the missile that he aimed there. He just shook his head, like nooo, not any more….

' but my mother lives in California '….. Not any more , nobody lives in California… Gene Hackman

  4. “…I’m gonna hurt you, not gentle like before, but bad…”
One of the best lines in cinematic history

  5. When Unforgiven first came out, I went to see it. I walked out of the movie theater stunned. By far and away the best western I had ever seen and almost completely unlike anything that had come before. I literally said to my friend, "if this doesn't win best picture, it is a crime."

  6. The Quick and the Dead is my favorite Gene Hackman Western and his tragic shootout with Dicaprio playing his son lives rent free in my mind!
