As public golf courses, we’re committed to growing the game by creating welcoming and inclusive spaces for all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or picking up a club for the first time, now is the perfect time to swing into spring. With seven courses across five convenient locations, we offer something for everyone.
“We’re thrilled to welcome golfers back to the greens as Calgary’s courses officially open for the season. This will be a special year of Golf in Calgary with the Shaganappi Bunker Renovation officially getting the green light to begin this spring. This is another example of how we are investing in the experience and value Calgarians can expect at our courses.” John Faber, Lead Golf Operations.
The Shaganappi Bunker Renovation is all about bringing fresh energy to the course while keeping an eye on the future. Our goal? To design bunkers that not only look great but also stand the test of time with minimal upkeep. This upgrade reflects how the game of golf has evolved and how we’re responding directly to the feedback we’ve heard r from players over the years. It’s time to give Shaganappi the bunker makeover it deserves!
The City of Calgary is also continuing to break down barriers through our Junior & Young Adult Subsidy Program, providing access to youth ages 8–24 from non-profit organizations, school groups, adaptive programs and community partners. All lessons are led by CPGA-certified and award-winning instructors from the National Golf Academy. these programs include:
-Golf Town Come Out & Play Junior Camp
-Operation Tee Time in partnership with Calgary Police Service
-Big Brothers Big Sisters
-Kids Up Front
– Junior Golf Camp with Immigrant Services Calgary & Centre for Newcomers
“The work we do is about more than golf. It’s about reducing financial and social barriers so more families can participate in the sport. By offering subsidized programs for youth from diverse backgrounds, we ensure that everyone has a chance to experience the joy and benefits of golf,” Gennie Liu, Golf Program Specialist.
We’re also proud to continue our Indoor Golf Dementia Program and will be expanding it this spring and summer following last year’s successful pilot. The positive feedback from participants and their care partners has been truly inspiring—thank you to our dedicated staff and volunteers for making it possible.
