After winning The Masters at Augusta, Rory McIlroy joked that he’s targeting the three other majors in 2025 and suggested: “You can’t win them all without winning the first!”

  1. I think this could be a turning point in his career. The press have constantly said when or if he would win another major and it had to have played on his mind. Now he’s crossed that hurdle, a lot of the pressure is off. I hope he can build on this. Early to mid thirties is usually the peak for most golfers with maybe Vijay being an exception.

  2. Congrats Rory. You are an exceptional golfer and person. You deserve every compliment thats coming. You make me proud to be from Co. Down. Heres to many more happy days😂

  3. Imagine being Tiger, and having Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer starting that he'll win more than them combined before he ever won his first Masters.. that's some pressure to!
    So happy for Rory

  4. "The most exclusive club in golf has just admitted its sixth member, and it's Rory McIlroy". That's a classy ass line right there. Well done Rory!!

  5. I don’t think even if I’d never taken a dump my entire life and then finally managed to squeeze it out I’d feel the same as Rory did yesterday

  6. Considering all the ridiculous things he’s said about players, all while backing the Demon, JAY, it’s hard to take him seriously—let alone respect him

  7. Im so happy for Rory but i don't ever want to gi through watching thst ever again coz my heart won't take it 😂 Well done Champ 🙏🙏💕

  8. I suggest that there will be just as much support for Rory’s future as there has been for him to win the Masters for the past 14 years. I will certainly be doing that. I thought 11 years ago that he would reach double figures in major wins, at least. After yesterday I think that 10 is within his capabilities and will continue to support him every time he steps out on the course. I wonder if he has ever had a number in his own mind and am even more interested to see what he can do now that this enormous burden has been released from him. Who knows, maybe he will spoil us with a run to compare to his first 4 majors.
    Go Rory!

  9. It's striking how golf journalists are unanimous, in saying that when you interview Rory McIlroy — he always gives honest, thoughtful answers. He's the opposite of the modern athlete 'robot', who uses a lot of words but never really says anything — other than what their 'handlers' and 'team' have come up with, for public recitation. In other words: avoid controversy, get through it as fast as possible, and move on. This weekend has shown us what the golf journalists mean: when was the last time, you heard a historically great athlete, say that he was so nervous he couldn't eat, and his legs felt like jelly, and his club (or his bat, or his racquet, or the ball) was shaking in his hands? That's correct: never. My guess is that, in addition to being a naturally curious, thoughtful, and reflective person — the way Rory interacts with the media comes from respecting others, and understanding that like him, they "have a job to do" as well. And THAT, it's my belief, is down to who Rory's parents are, and how they raised him. So "flowers for Rory," as the saying goes — but also congratulations on a job exceptionally well-done, to his parents Mr. and Mrs. McIlroy. Like millions of others, I can't wait to see if the Masters victory "unlocks" Rory — and he goes on a tear. This weekend it's been pointed out that the PGA Championship is being held at Quail Hollow Club — a course where's he's won 4 previous tournaments. And then of course, the Open Championship returns this summer to McIlroy's native Northern Ireland, at Royal Portrush — and who, other than Shane Lowry will know that course, and have played it, as many times as Rory has? Likely no one. So here's hoping that 2025 will be "The Summer of Rory." Good luck, young man!

  10. I think he was so lucky to win and effectively bottled it again, more luck than anything else that got him over the line. So I can't see him dominating the majors at all.

  11. What a club Rory just got into…at this stage no one is topping Nicklaus in terms of number of majors or Woods in shear domination but winning the career grand slam is about as good as it gets.

  12. Glad he won but oh man he did choke again multiple times. Bryson was hitting exceptionally bad irons(then putting started to go bad too) completely lost his swing and had he not Rory my man you would have lost again. The way Rory played he should have finished 4 ahead but thats him, all the skill and talent but then completely loses it. I am not a hater I enjoyed it immensly and was happy he won but he is the same guy. Nobody won with 4 double bogeys before and that tells you everything. Dont think you will get this chance again Rory unless you get rid of the timidness. The 85 yard hit into the ditch, missing that eagle after such amazing curve around the tree, missing 125 yard approach shot into the bunker then missing par put for the win… I'd say you were very lucky because all Bryon needed was to not suck so bad yesterday and Rose the day before and it would have been same old story. Again he should dominate the field with such skills and talent.

  13. Now he can just relax and play. He could win more majors with this pressure lifted. 6 would put him with Mickelson, Faldo and Trevino.

  14. To win all Four Majors you have to have the complete game – each Major has a unique skill set and to win all four shows you are a very special talent

  15. I've never seen so much bad golf and amazing golf from one player to win a major. Testament to how gifted Rory is.

  17. I was supporting Rory but made the mistake of looking at his Wikipedia site. If he played for Ireland at the Olympics he’s Irish. Also his treatment of wives etc seems iffy. I’m unsubscribing from Sky Golf as again I’m not Irish. I honestly don’t think McIlroy has the mental strength to ‘dominate’ the majors. Just sincerely hope some idiot British politician doesn’t decide to give him a knighthood.

  18. We know when he plays his best he's freed up and swinging away. I hope we get that Rory now from now until retirement

  19. I need to remind everyone that The Masters is the EASIEST of the four Majors to win.

    Why????

Because it has by far the weakest and smallest field of the four, as it includes a number of amateurs and ageing past winners, who would never play in the other three Majors. Also it’s an invitational tournament, so on many occasions, top professionals don’t qualify as they don’t meet the necessary criteria.

It is also the only Major played on the same course every single year, so it is more familiar to the players.

The Masters is played in April (Spring time) which means the overall weather conditions are not as treacherous as the other three.

Augusta National definitely has the most forgiving course conditions compared to the other three. The fairways are wider, no deep rough, and the greens are larger. Augusta National is superbly manicured and conditioned, so the players have the best opportunities to shoot low scores.

In other words, the PGA Championship probably has the strongest and deepest field (all professionals).

The US Open is possibly the toughest test, and this is proven every year by the winning score usually being around level par or over par.

As for The Open, it certainly has the most international field, and players can face the most brutal and unpredictable weather conditions. It is also played on links golf courses, which poses a significantly different challenge to the players.

So, in conclusion, it’s going to be an almost impossible task to win all four, unless you are playing with the exceptional ability of a 24-30 year-old Tiger Woods.
