Rory McIlroy is overcome with emotion after winning the sudden death playoff at the 89th Masters Tournament. #themasters

Since 1934, the Masters Tournament has been home to some of golf’s greatest moments. Amidst blooming azaleas, towering pines and flowering dogwoods, the first full week of April ushers in a stage unique to golf and to sport. Over four days and 72 holes, the smallest field in major championship golf competes for a chance to capture the Green Jacket and a place in Masters history.

  1. The fact that so many around the world had a similar reaction to Rory, for Rory, and we don’t even know him… says a lot. One of the best days ever.

  2. Whoever says Golf is boring has no idea what they are talking about😂❤Congrats Rory Legend❤❤❤love from someone who played from age 14 to 24❤❤❤

  3. Rory is a class act. No one deserves this more than him. People confuse passion with anger and Rory is beyond passionate about his craft. He knew he had what it took to be great and didn’t falter. Every golfer, recreational or professional knows how much time/dedication that goes into the sport and for him to come away with a Masterpiece is fitting and well deserved. Congrats Rory!

  4. I dont watch golf nor do I play it. Genuinely dont even follow it. I do, however, know about Rory McIlroy. Im here because I saw a clip on IG of him winning and i wanted to see the full celebration. Seeing this kind of emotion is powerful and inspiring

  5. My congratulations to Rory as he patiently played tournaments over the years with anticipation of each Masters. Watched the last few minutes, forsaking baseball and softball which are my interests. BTW, used to play golf so I know the ups and downs that any golfer experiences.

  6. Not a golf guy so i genuinely dont know the anser to this, but is there a crowd reaction like this when others have won? This reminds me of wrestling how theyre cheering him on like this and its amazing to see. Congrats to you Rory this is looking like it will stand as a legendary moment in sports history
