Horton Smith won the first Masters in 1934 and in addition to going down in Augusta National lore as the inaugural champion, he also pocketed $1,500 for his historic win. Fast forward to 2025 and it’s Rory McIlroy becoming the Masters first $4 million man.

The money has certainly changed over the years. Jack Nicklaus played in 45 Masters and made a record 37 cuts. His career earnings at the tournament are $772,359. Arnold Palmer, who played in 50 Masters and made 23 cuts, earned $204,013.

Tiger Woods, who made the cut for a record-setting 24th consecutive time in 2024, held the top spot on the all-time money list for the Masters until 2023, when Phil Mickelson’s surprising tie for second made him the new No. 1 on this list. In 2024, Scheffler joined the top three.

In 2025, Rory McIlroy became the first to win a first-place prize of more than $4 million.

20. Vijay Singh

Singh won the 2000 Masters by three shots over Ernie Els. Singh has made $2,669,205 in 31 starts, including 2024 when he made the cut.

19. Fred Couples

The 1992 Masters champ has made $2,885,601 in 40 appearances at Augusta National. He became the oldest golfer to make the cut in 2023.

18. Charl Schwartzel

Schwartzel won the Masters in 2011. He has made $3,047,801 in 16 starts.

17. Brooks Koepka

Koepka, the 54-hole leader in 2023, missed the cut in 2025. In 10 Masters appearances, he’s earned $3,306,484.

16. Xander Schauffele

Schauffele had a tie for eighth in 2025 and brings his career total to $3,381,637 in eight career starts.

15. Cameron Smith

In nine appearances, Smith has made $3,436,668 at the Masters.

14. Sergio Garcia

Garcia has earned $3,471,530 in 26 Masters Tournaments. He won the tournament in 2017 in his 19th Masters appearance.

13. Angel Cabrera

Cabrera, the 2009 Masters champ, has made $3,553,257 in 21 appearances.

12. Lee Westwood

Westwood has made 21 Masters appearances and has won $3,687,748.

11. Adam Scott

Scott has made 24 Masters appearances and has earned $4,058,807. He won the event in 2013.

10. Hideki Matsuyama

Matsuyama has $4,244,867 in earnings in 14 appearances at Augusta National.

9. Bubba Watson

Watson has made 17 Masters appearances, won the tournament twice and has earned $4,164,830.

7. Dustin Johnson

Johnson in 2020 won his first green jacket, a prize that was worth $2,070,000. He missed the cut in 2023, 2024 and 2025. He has earned $4,662,235 in 15 trips.

8. Jon Rahm

The 2023 winner was the first $3 million man in tournament history. His total is $5,456,217.

7. Patrick Reed

Reed won the Masters in 2018 and earned $1,980,000. His solo third in 2025 was worth $1,428,000. In 12 appearances at Augusta National, he has now won $5,460,851.

6. Jordan Spieth

In 12 Masters appearances, Spieth has earned $6,361,828. He won the tournament in 2015. In 2025, he tied for 14th.

5. Justin Rose

Rose has made 20 Masters appearances and has lost in a playoff twice, in 2017 and again in 2025. His career tournament earnings are $6,681,765.

4. Scottie Scheffler

He has played in six tournaments at Augusta National and has two green jackets, winning in 2022 and 2024. His fourth in 2025 was good for $1,008,000 and his all-time Masters total is $8,045,325.

3. Rory McIlroy

McIlroy has made 17 appearances in the Masters. His finally broke through with a win in 2025, earning $4,200,000 to boost his all-time Masters money to $8,543,021.

2. Tiger Woods

Woods has made $9,642,636 in 26 Masters appearances. Woods has five green jackets. He made the cut in 2024 for a record-setting 24th time. It was also his 25th made cut at Augusta National. He didn’t play in 2025 while recovering from surgery after an Achilles injury.

1. Phil Mickelson

Mickelson has earned $9,860,317 in 32 starts at the Masters, including $1,584,000 for a tie for second in 2023. He has won the event three times and has made 27 cuts. He missed the cut in 2025.
