Is there an ultimate way to set-up your golf bag to guarantee success? It’s pretty easy to pick out a set of irons but what should we be using between that an our driver?

In this video I test out all the best top of the bag gapping options from Ping including their new G440 fairway wood, G440 hybrid and G440 4-iron. I take a look at which is most optimal for me and what will suit different styles of golfers.

  1. Great vlog – looks great out there!
Id love to be able to play a 4 iron but its just not for me. I use both 20deg and 24 deg hybrids – the former mainly for getting out of the 1st-cut rough. In the past I used a 7-wood but always found it to be losing me distance.
    Cheers

  2. Being a shitty golfer in general im always told i need hybrids ,”you just swing them like an iron”they always say …yet i just cant hit them near as well as an iron or 7 wood (which isnt all that consistent already 😜🤷🏼‍♂️)as ive aged ive changed from not carrying woods at all to remove my slice( mostly)to now liking long woods over long irons …

  3. I switched to hybrids so I have G425 3H, G430 4H, G430 5H, and G430 6H. I’m a 12.2 handicap but feel this makes my game better and more fun. I get amazing distance out of them used trackman for my distances and confirmed on course
    6H C 188-192/ T 198-210
    5H C 195-200/ T 210-218
    4H C 205-210/ T 220-225
    3H C 215/ T 230-235

I will never go back to comparable irons I love the hybrids

    Great video and info

  4. I struggle with hybrids for some reason, but recently got into a 7w and it's been fantastic. i still take the 4i if it's a windy day

  5. Another goody Hannah,
I'm 70, I've always been a Taylormade hybrid guy but a friend gave me his TSI2 21* 7 wood and it's been a great match…ave 207 with it. It's a staple in my bag since day 1 of having it

  6. Got a new 4H for Christmas this year. Trying to compare it to my 4i seeing if it's a more consistent replacement. Need to get my swing back in line before I make the judgement though. At worst looking for something to clear the gap between my 4i and 3H

  7. Thanks Hannah; I carry a nine wood (!). It's my "go to" club for trouble. Any thoughts on how a club can become a talisman for positive strikes? If there is one club in my bag that "works" every time it's the nine wood. Do you have a favorite?

  8. I have skipped the 5 iron for a hybrid already. I am also thinking of changing from 4 hybrid to a 7 wood, just because of the decent angle in to the small greens we have at our course.

  9. Never been a good 4i player, recently changed to a callaway rogue st 7 wood. Totally love it, out of the rough it's a stroke saver. Great video Hannah keep them coming

  10. I find my hybrids to be the most forgiving clubs in my bag. I’m a high handicapper but I know my 4H is going to carry around 180y and be pretty straight. Even a terrible shot won’t slice too much. I simply don’t get that consistency with my 4i. So I carry 3H, 4H and 5H and then 6i – 9i plus wedges. I carry my driver on a good day, but teeing off with a 3H is a safer option.

  11. Haven't had a 4 iron in the bag for the best part of 20 years..dropped the 5 iron last year for a 26° 5h..confident enough to take a bit off it to cover any gap to the 6iron…

  12. Hybrid for sure. although the 7 wood is pretty forgiving, its not as good as the hybrid out of the rough, which I find often😅 or uneven lies like the hybrid

  13. Interesting comparison video Hannah, you would do much better alternating between the hybrid and 7 wood depending on course setup and weather while you should give your 4 iron away to a golfer who has much more speed because your peak height was way too low and I would be looking for at least 95-100 feet but its apparent that your clubhead speed is nowhere near fast enough to get optimum launch conditions with long irons.

  14. I'm carrying both a 4 hybrid and 7 wood, each at 22 deg at the moment and yes, they both carry the same distance, but the shot is so different, so whilst I have room, I'm keeping both, but would likely drop the 7 wood if adding another club, as the hybrid is so versatile. Good video that Hannah!

  15. I keep 4i in the bag to keep rescue shots low and back in play but rely on my 5Hybrid to get around the course.

  16. Had my Cobra Baffler 4H 21 degree (stiff) for more than 15yrs, wouldn’t swap it for the world. My favourite club in the bag. Great review Hannah.

  17. It's certainly a problem for me H. I've got ping g730 irons (fitted for me) starting at 5i that's really got 4i loft. There's a 20m gap between the 5i and my 5w so I'm looking at either a 7w or 3h even though the Ping site says that the 7w is equivalent to a 4i. Real problems for me. Is it just in my head? Probably. On a more personal note … Majorca? I'm jealous.
