At 10.06am Georgia time, Thursday, Scottie Scheffler didn’t so much walk from Augusta’s practice area to the putting green behind the first tee box as he did lope there; head down, shuttered in from the world by his low-peaked white Nike baseball cap.
We know this because, while making our way to watch the start of Scheffler’s round, we almost tread on his foot as he loped straight past us.
