Philomath High junior Shaylee May shot her way into the top 10 at Monday’s girls golf tournament at Diamond Woods Golf Course near Monroe.
In a meet hosted by Harrisburg, May came out slow on the first nine holes with a 64 but finished strong on the back nine with a 57 for a 121 total. The team’s other junior, Isabelle Muir, came out strong with a front-nine score of 56 and came in with a 67 on the back nine for a 123, which placed her in 12th.
The rest of the varsity lineup for the Warriors included seniors Sophia Bauer (130), Anneka Steen (130) and Reagan Chisholm (141).
Santiam Christian’s Akira White was the top individual with a round of 88. In the team standings, Santiam Christian was first with 443, followed by Harrisburg (447), Philomath (504) and Sweet Home (564).
Philomath is scheduled to compete again Thursday with a North Marion-hosted meet at Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora.
