Dropping Baits 4000ft for Deep Sea Monsters
I’m going to drop this massive squid jig down 4000ft, searching for a Giant Squid at Tropic Star Lodge. This world-class Panama resort is located in the Darien Jungle, over 100 miles from the nearest road. Tropic Star has produced hundreds of world records and is home to some of the largest fish ever caught! For the next 5 days, we’ll be fishing for tuna, sailfish, marlin, grouper, and giant squid. After catching the tuna, we returned to the dock, cleaned the tripletail, and brought it to the restaurant. I then met up with Richard White and started building the giant squid rig. The following day, Richard and I headed offshore and found a massive school of bonito busting on the surface. Not catching anything was disappointing, but with the endless possibilities at Tropic Star, I put aside squid fishing and went deep-dropping, targeting new species. The hunt for the giant squid continues.

Squids normally come up to the surface at night so you should try to catch the giant squid at night because most stories I've heard of the giant squid are at night

I fished at Tropic Star Lodge. Caught a huge pacific blue marlin, hammerheads and mahi. Unreal place. Flew in on a tiny plane and landed on a dirt road.
