FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Several inches of snow across the Fargo-Moorhead area have delayed golf courses from opening this season.
Some courses, such as Edgewood Golf Course, were looking at an opening date as early as next week.
“We needed the moisture, so I won’t complain about that, but it’s definitely going to delay our potential opening,” said Jason Spitzner, Golf Course Superintendent at Edgewood. “For us, once we melt all the snow, we dry up. We were really close on Monday, and now if we get some temps, we’ll just go from there and see what mother nature brings us, and if it’s dry enough, we’re looking to get open here real soon.”
Spitzner and those at Edgewood are hoping to open soon with the other courses as they are a part of the Fargo Park District’s “5 fore 1″ pass.
“All our golf courses are a little different; some are newer, and some are older, and we’re all going to be ready at about the same time, and we’ll work with our golf pros and let them know that we’re getting close,” Spitzner said. “When the golf course is ready, we’re going to open it.”
Golf courses in the FM Area should be open within the next month, including driving ranges, if the weather is warmer and drier.
